Does anybody know what is the official position of Republic of Macedonia regarding the name dispute ? I still dont know what they are offering.

Milososki-Droutsas meeting in Budva
Skopje, 28 January 2011 (MIA) - Foreign Minister Antonio Milososki will meet Friday in Budva with Greek FM Dimitris Droutsas.

The meeting, which is initiated by the Macedonian party, will be held at sidelines informal meeting of foreign ministers of the South East European Co-operation Process (SEECP) member states.

Pertaining to the coming meeting with Greek counterpart Dimitris Droutsas in Montenegro, FM Milososki says is would be good if the meeting tackled other issues besides the name row, such as bilateral economic cooperation, elimination of double taxation, as well as opening of new border crossings.

Milososki-Droutsas talks will take place ahead of a meeting of UN mediator Matthew Nimetz with countries' negotiators - Zoran Jolevski and Adamantios Vassilakis, scheduled for February 9 in New York.

Macedonia expects confirmation of the countries' commitment to the UN-led process and continuation of dialogue, as well as elimination of the feeling over the process marginalization, says Foreign Minister Antonio Milososki in an interview with Radio Free Europe.

He adds that Macedonian negotiator, ambassador Zoran Jolevski has been summoned to Skopje for instructions over the country's stance for commitment to resumption of the dialogue and building trust with Greece, resulting in a solution to the bilateral dispute. ik/fd/9:26

A waste of time like all such meetings before it. Their views are opposed to each other, there is no point of discussion, and the only one's responsible for allowing this fiasco to continue are the members of the Macedonian government. We have never needed Greece's approval to exist, it was the cowardice of our politicians that put us in this position in the first place.

I really agree with you SoM.

Most Macedonians do not believe that the New Greeks and invading 'Greeks' have a valid claim to Macedonian territory, certainly not a historical one, if this was indeed a historical issue. But the fact is that it is very much a historical issue, if a false claim is the central assumption behind the Greek position and forms the basis of its aggression.

You are right to suggest that the Macedonian politicians have folded up like pancakes.

The only thing keeping this alive is the reckless and ruthless aggression of these Albanians and Turks 'in disguise' (New Greeks), and the perception among Macedonian leaders that we are helpless, weak and impotent, Oh, and Macedonian leaders like Gruevski who has no problem meddling with our identity, as though it were a fkn bargaining chip.

We the Macedonians demand your country to stop using the preliminary reference Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. Our country's name is Republic of Macedonia. Please respect that, just as well as we respect the name of your country Australia.

We the Macedonians believe that this decision is not only unjust for the Macedonian people but defies universal rights and principles.

The reference under which the Republic of Macedonia was admitted to the UN is only for use within the UN, as per resolution 817. The preliminary reference which was included in the UN constitutes a reference, not a name!

We the Macedonians ask that fundamental human rights and principles also apply to us. We ask that you please end the injustice and discrimination against us and recognize our country by the name Republic of Macedonia .

Over 130 countries worldwide, including the USA , Canada , Brazil , India , China , Japan , Russia, Turkey … have already acknowledged our country under the name Republic of Macedonia!

From March 21 until March 30 Hague Tribunal will hold a public debate in Macedonia’s lawsuit against Greece, triggered by the violation of temporary agreement at NATO summit in Bucharest.

The discussion will be open to the public and conducted in two phases. Macedonia will present its case in the first phase on March 21 and March 22, while Greece will presents its standpoints on March 24 and 25.

On March 28 Macedonia will have a right to a rebuttal, while the public debate will be concluded on March 30 with a closing statement made by Greece. According to past practices the court will rule on the case within 6 months or by the end of the year. The ruling will be binding and enacted by the UN Security Council.
