    Norwegian way of punishment!

Norway killer could be held in 'luxury prison'
Anders Behring Breivik could be jailed in one of the world's most progressive prisons, where inmates enjoys cells equipped with flat screen televisions, minifridges and designer-style furniture.

Halden Fengsel prison was opened last by King Harald V and is home to some of Norway's most hardened criminals, including murderers and rapists.

The jail is spread over 75 acres of woodland just outside Oslo and facilities include a sound studio, jogging trails and a two-bedroom house separate from the main facility where convicts can stay with their families during overnight visits.

Guards move around the prison unarmed and often play sports or eat meals with the men they are tasked with watching. Half of the prison staff are women, a policy based on research which shows a female presence induces a less aggressive atmosphere.

In a far cry from the brutalist set up of British or American prisons, there is even a "kitchen laboratory" where inmates can take specialist cooking courses.

Speaking at the opening of the jail last year, governor Are Hoidal said: "In the Norwegian prison system, there's a focus on human rights and respect.

"We want to build them up, give them confidence through education and work and have them leave as better people."

Its obvious you dont understand political correctness or US politics in the last decade or so. The fact that there is a show hosted by a Turk American called Young Turks is self evident of how fucked up the country has become. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cenk_Uygur
Just by watching his clip his agenda by trying to equalize Islamofascism to an insane individual is obvious. That right there is a perfect example of " political correctness ". I dont like Fox News, never did. Im a Liberatarian by choice. Not a Neo-Con like most on Fox News.

Bottom line is that your an idiot and getting more irrelevent by the day.

Completely baseless and unsubstantiated. The guy was crazy that is it. When you start to see Christians fundamentalists strapping bombs on their chests, hanging kids, murdering muslims, and God knows what else than you can say that. Until then take it for what its worth. A loony that went haywire. He needs to be executed and not make a story out of it. That will only further his "cause" in his own fucked up way.

He is a christian fundamentalist, according to him, and he didn't just decide one day to go out and do this. He carefully plotted and planned every step of this heinous crime. You seem to be avoiding the obvious for some reason.

Negative ^ He is a psychopath first and foremost than he is a self declared fundamentalist. Not the other way around.

He is more a sociopath than a psychopath. Anyway, I tend to agree with Voltron to a certain extent, in that Christian fundamentalism has a long way to go before it catches up to its equivalent in Islam. Sure, the sentiment may be there in the former, but it hardly ever manifests itself in the way that has become common in the latter. To be fair though, the former doesn't get as much exposure as the latter.

How could anyone possibly label this guy as a Christian?

I don't doubt he is a psychopath. However he is a self-professed christian:

On the Facebook page attributed to him, Mr Breivik describes himself as a Christian and a conservative. It listed his interests as hunting, body building and freemasonry. His profile also listed him as single. The page has since been taken down.

Police chief Svinung Sponheim said that internet posting by Breivik suggested he has "some political traits directed toward the right, and anti-Muslim views".

Police officials have also said that the suspect appeared to have posted on websites with Christian fundamentalist tendencies.

Mr Breivik had served in the Norwegian military doing national service and had no criminal record according to reports.

He is believed to have grown up in Oslo and studied at the Oslo School of Management, which offers degrees and postgraduate courses.

Government business records show him as the sole director of Breivik Geofarm, a company Norwegian media is describing as a farming sole proprietorship.

The company was set up to cultivate vegetables, melons, roots and tubers, Norway's TV2 says, and speculation in local media is rife that through such a link he may have had access to fertiliser, an ingredient used in bomb-making.

The Norwegian newspaper Verdens Gang quoted a friend as saying that the suspect turned to right-wing extremism when in his late 20s. The newspaper also said that he participated in online forums expressing strong nationalistic views.

A Twitter account attributed to the suspect has also emerged but it only has one post, which is a quote from the philosopher John Stuart Mill: "One person with a belief is equal to the force of 100,000 who have only interests."

As with his Facebook page, the tweet was posted on July 17.

His profile reminds me of the many greeks who fought in Bosnia with their "orthodox brothers" the serbs:

Greek Lawyer Pleased to Defend Bosnian Serb
                      By RAYMOND BONNER

THENS, Greece -- When criminal lawyers are asked how they can represent unsavory clients, they often say that everyone has the right to counsel.

But Alexandros Lykourezos, one of Greece's most prominent and flamboyant lawyers, does not resort to that cliche when asked about his work for one of the most wanted men in the world today -- Gen. Ratko Mladic, the Bosnian Serb military commander, who has been indicted on charges of crimes against humanity and genocide.

"I like him," Lykourezos said, explaining why he has taken up Mladic's cause. "I consider him a friend" -- so much so that the lawyer, who would not discuss the international war crimes tribunal's indictment against Mladic, said he was representing him pro bono. While evasive about what he was doing for Mladic, he did say that he had traveled to Bosnia to meet him.

Lykourezos acknowledges that it may be hard for Westerners to understand his association with such a notorious suspect. Indeed, he said, he is censured by friends in London, Paris and New York. But not in Greece, where there is much sympathy for Serbia and the Bosnian Serbs.

"The reaction has been only positive here, totally positive," said Lykourezos. The lawyer, who is 62 and has wild, collar-length gray hair, spoke as he sat at his highly polished mahogany desk in khaki slacks with penny loafers and no socks.

"It is difficult for anybody outside Greece to understand rationally," Lykourezos said about Greece's relationship with Serbia.

It stems from Greece's hostile relationship with Turkey, which is also often hard for outsiders to fathom, Lykourezos added. The animosity is rooted in centuries past, to the days of the Ottoman Empire, when both the Serbs and the Greeks chafed under rule from Istanbul, which Lykourezos calls Constantinople, the Greek name for the city.

These days, though both are NATO members, Greece and Turkey have been on the brink of war, most recently earlier this year over a small, rocky island.

The Greeks and the Serbs are also Orthodox Christians and see themselves fighting to hold the line against Islam in Europe.

In recent NATO debates, Greece has strongly opposed any military operation to seize Mladic, or other people indicted on charges of war crimes, and it did not like the idea of forcing Dr. Radovan Karadzic to resign from the leadership of the main Bosnian Serb political party as a condition for the party to be allowed to take part in elections.

During the Bosnian war, Greek companies shipped oil to the Bosnian Serbs and to Serbian-dominated Yugoslavia, in violation of the United Nations economic embargo. Greek arms merchants got weapons to the Serbian forces, in violation of the arms embargo.

When the Bosnian Serbs attacked the United Nations "safe area" of Srebrenica last summer, Greek mercenaries fought with them and raised the blue and white Greek flag triumphantly when the enclave fell. Several thousand Muslim men were massacred, and Mladic has been indicted on charges related to the killings.

But the fall of Srebrenica and the massacres went virtually unreported by Greek journalists. Indeed, Bosnian Serbian atrocities throughout the war were ignored by the Greek press, leaving most Greeks as ill-informed about the war as the Serbian people themselves.

A couple of months after the fall of Srebrenica, Lykourezos went on television to raise money for Serbian refugees. More than $400,000 poured in, he said.

Does all this mean that Mladic or Karadzic might find asylum in Greece?

While avoiding a direct answer, Lykourezos noted that while France, Italy and Germany had passed laws to insure that anyone indicted on charges of war crimes who was found on their territory would be arrested and extradited to The Hague, some countries -- including Greece -- had not.

Even though international arrest warrants have been issued for Mladic and others who have been indicted, some countries must pass domestic laws to provide for compliance with them.

Recently, representatives from the war crimes tribunal came here to ask the government to adopt laws that would insure full cooperation with the court, Lykourezos said. He said he thought Parliament would take up the issue when it returned in September from its summer recess.

But given the attitude of the Greek people, it might be difficult to get such laws enacted, he said.

Many persons have carried out crimes in the name of religion. In their own world, they consider themselves believers, unfortunately the truth doesn't factor in their perceptions. Having said that though, you are correct Tom, if a strict definition of what it is to be a Christian is followed. But few people in the world that consider themselves Christians adhere to this strict definition. In the end, it is a matter of perception, irrespective of the perception of others.
