That’s what I don’t get. They are all thieves. Though Zaev through witetaps managed to convince the public that their main rivals are uniquely corrupt. The thing about Zaev, he’s the ultimate weasel as he is not only a thief but a snitch.

No one in Macedonia or the west bothers to question DUIs corruption, murderers of police, drug runners, no respect for law and 10 years in gov with VMRO.

There was something else on Twitter recently from a Slovenian MEP who called out the EU’s double standards on this topic, the interference and silence from the EU in addressing the problems in Macedonia and the police state that Zaev is creating.

Euroskeptics could turn this into a real shit fight if these stories gained greater traction in the wider european community...so far the dismemberment of the Macedonian ethnic identity and the rape of their self determination has progressed in largely utter silence and disregard from the so called leaders of democracy and those that feign the protecting of human rights...

Serbia puts military on high alert over incident involving ‘Kosovo special forces’

Serbian armed forces were put on the highest combat readiness after Kosovo’s Special Forces made their way into a Serbian enclave in the self-proclaimed state on Saturday.
Some 60 ROSU troops arrived on the territory of a Serbian autonomous region in the northwestern part of the area claimed by Kosovo, in violation of the agreements between Belgrade and Pristina.

The Kosovar special forces positioned itself around the dam on Gazivoda Lake and took control of the local hydroelectric power station, detaining several Serbian citizens. They also entered the Center for Ecology and Sport Development in Zubin Potok, Marco Duric, director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija in the Serbian government, said.

The Kosovar troops were sent to the Serb-populated area in order to provide security during a boat trip to northern Kosovo by the self-proclaimed state’s leader, Hashim Thaci.

Thaci, who is facing protests in Pristina over the possible land swap with Belgrade, made a visit to Gazivoda on Saturday that was labeled a “PR-stunt” by Boris Malagurski, a film director and political commentator.

“The reason why he went there on Saturday was because the movement, called Self-Determination (Vetevendosje), had huge protest in Pristina and he tried to drag away attention from that and show that he is very powerful and can go wherever he wants,” he said.

Tens of thousands of people from across Kosovo flocked to Pristina on Saturday to say ‘no’ to the land swap proposed by Thaci. They gathered at the city’s Skanderbeg Square, chanting slogans and carrying Albanian national flags.

The leader of the Vetevendosje movement, Albin Kurti, told the crowd that the Kosovars won’t accept “new pain and new compromises” and blamed Thaci for “poverty and corruption,” plaguing the self-proclaimed state, the Balkan Insight reported.

The EU insists that Belgrade and Pristina must “normalize relations” if they want to join the bloc, with Thaci earlier saying that “border corrections” could be part of that process. No formalized plan for the swap has been worked out so far, but one of the proposals is to exchange the predominantly ethnic Albanian Presevo Valley in southern Serbia for Kosovo’s north, which is populated by the Serbs.

Serbia’s President, Aleksandar Vucic, has ordered the country’s armed forces to be on the highest combat alert in response to the incursion by Kosovo's special forces, with the measure still being in place. Serbian Interior Minister, Nebojsa Stefanovic, described the incident as an “Albanian attack” in the country’s Kosovo and Metohija.

Pristina dismissed the claims of occupying the area and said there were no arrests carried out, according to the local deputy police commander, Besim Hoti. The troops were at Gazivoda for a “single visit,” he told RTS.

ROSU servicemen withdrew from the dam at around 16:10 local time (14:10 GMT) as soon as Thaci’s visit concluded, Duric confirmed.

The official said the situation was “very dangerous” and compared to state of things to the start of the Arab-Israeli conflict. The ROSU troops “were armed to teeth and looked more like terrorists than security forces,” he added.

Malagurski believes that the repeat of such provocative incidents between Kosovo and Serbia is unlikely. “They’ve finished their PR stunt and, I think, this is where it ends,” especially, after Belgrade sent a strong message to Pristina by putting its military on high alert, he explained.

The control over the Gazivoda and its facilities has been a matter of dispute between Belgrade and Pristina for years. The lake is the major drinking water supplier for several municipalities of the region and a local power station also uses the water from it.

Gazivoda is a very disputed and a very important lake,” which is essential for Kosovo, Malagurski said. “The local power plant gets its water from it. If Gazivode is taken away from Pristina, Kosovo would essentially lose electricity.”

Self-proclaimed Kosovo unilaterally declared independence from Serbia in 2008 and the recognition of the region is matter of a major international dispute. Kosovo has been recognized by the US and a number of its allies, yet, a number of countries, including Spain, China and Russia opposed the controversial move. In fact, over half of the UN states did not support Kosovo’s independence.

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres said on Friday that “Kosovo is not a state” for the international organization.

Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj announced that as of January next year, Kosovo and Albania will have no borders. The borders will be abolished, and traffic as well as goods between the two countries will be able to move smoothly.

"We will remove the border with Albania. We will remove even those small houses. We will remove it all," Haradinaj announced.

So far, there is no official stance from Albania on this issue. The removal of borders should take place in January 2019.

If the same standards and rules were applied all over Europe, we would be in perpetual war and borders would change yearly.

TIRANA, Nov. 26 – At the joint meeting that took place in Kosovo’s Peja between the Albanian and Kosovo governments on Monday, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama spoke about the cooperation between the countries’ foreign ministries to achieve the national unification between Albania and neighboring Kosovo.

During his joint meeting speech, Rama invited Kosovo counterpart Ramush Haradinaj to approve that both the Albanian and Kosovo foreign ministry to begin working on a common strategic draft that will unite Albanians by the year 2025.

“Albania, Kosovo and the way to Albanian union in the horizon of 2025. A demographic, economic, social document of both political systems, and all of this. I know very well what Belgrade or any other place will say but I see Albanian union as a necessity in the path to the EU and the EU should stop employing a two-faced approach.

He added that Albania cannot indefinitely wait for the European Union to take a decision regarding the country’s eventual membership, while Kosovo is already tired of waiting for the EU to approve visa-free travel for its citizens within the union, although all other countries in the region already benefit from visa liberalization and Serbia “keeps opening accession chapters.”

Having conducted five governmental meetings so far, Rama said the time has finally come to pass from words to action and the governments went on to sign a number of other agreements which foresee that within the first six months of 2019 there will be no trade tariffs and roaming tariffs between Kosovo and Albania but an established customs union.

Additional agreements mentioned during the speech for the media was unification of all issued documents and driving licenses.

Concerning Kosovo’s decision last week to place a full trade ban with Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina and which had both official Belgrade and the EU calling for the Kosovo government to back down immediately, Rama said it is “Serbia’s stabs on Kosovo’s back” which fully explain it.

“It is an irrational decision under normal conditions, but quite normal in irrational conditions such as those outlining the two-faced approach of Serbia. Whoever sees the 100 percent trade tariff as an economic decision is wrong. No, 100 percent tariff is a political response to the continuing excesses of Serbia’s supremacist behavior towards Kosovo,” he said.

Kosovo’s government decision to place a full trade ban came only two weeks after official Prishtina had imposed a ten percent trade tariff tax from all products coming from Serbia and Bosnia – a decision which had Vucic immediately call for a pause on normalization talks until it was revoked and the EU call for Kosovo to back down.

Failing to become an Interpol member last week and continuously struggling to be recognized on the international arena, Kosovo politicians and government members blamed Serbia’s “angry lobbying” against Kosovo and called the ban a “necessary political maneuver.”

This time, in response to Kosovo’s decision, Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said Belgrade will not be reciprocating Kosovo’s trade ban, but added alternative reactions were being looked into.

According to official numbers, last year Serbia’s exports to Kosovo reached a market value of 440 million euros (502.3 million dollars), while its imports reached 21 million euros (23.97 million dollars).



Serbia holds military drills amid Kosovo tensions

BELGRADE, Serbia (AP) — Serbia held large military drills on Saturday to mark 100 years since the end of World War I in an apparent show of force amid rising tensions over Kosovo.

The live-ammunition maneuvers, dubbed “The Century of Winners,” include 8,000 soldiers, 100 battle tanks and MiG-29 fighter jets supplied by Russia.

Tensions recently have increased in the region, with Serbia and Kosovo accusing each other of undermining efforts at reconciliation following a 1998-99 war which ended after NATO intervention. The former Serbian province declared independence in 2008 which Belgrade doesn’t recognize.

Serbian officials are especially worried by plans of Kosovo’s ethnic Albanian leadership to transform its security forces into regular army troops. Serbs have warned of unspecified measures to prevent that move and “protect” the Serbian minority in Kosovo.

Supported by its ally Russia, Serbia recently increased its sabre rattling over Kosovo, including raising combat readiness of its troops over a series of small incidents. Serbia’s army intervention in Kosovo would trigger a direct clash with NATO-led peacekeepers stationed there.

According to the report, during a news conference held in the town of Pec he repeated used the phrase "what the fuck" - and he was uttering this profanity in English.

Speaking about the trade dispute between Serbia and Kosovo after the latter increased by 100 percent taxes on goods coming from central Serbia and from Bosnia-Herzegovina, Rama said that Kosovo was "absolutely ready to play its international role" - but that Belgrade was "not always clear and honest in the Brussels dialogue."

Rama also told reporters that Kosovo is "a complete state" whereas Pristina "always had a sincere approach to dialogue with Belgrade."

Having continued his criticism at the expense of Serbia, he mentioned one time when "Serbia asked from one Kosovo minister" to remove the term "Republic of Kosovo" from his speech. "The EU would say to that, 'what the fuck'," said Rama.

The Albanian prime minister used this profanity in English several times during his address.
