Albania and Kosovo are 2 countries that have the right to agree to work together and have all the cross border projects and agreements they want.. If the regions goal in to be in a border free EU then I believe as a region we should create a mini Balkan EU when it comes to trade, freedom of movement, joint regional economic projects ect..

How are we going to join and get along with the EU (As every government keeps repeating) if we can't sort shit out between each other..

As for Kosovo and Albania "Unifying" this will only occur if the powers that be want it to occur.. nobody will ask the Albanians they will just make it happen if it is to happen one day!

Serb mayors in north resign, cut communication with Pristina

The mayors of the four Serb municipalities in northern Kosovo have signed a four-point declaration, after which they resigned all their functions.

At Tuesday's extraordinary meeting of the mayors of the municipalities of Kosovska Mitrovica, Leposavic, Zubin Potok and Zvecan, a declaration was signed by which the leaders of these municipalities withdrew from their functions and severed any communication with the authorities in Pristina.

As stated during a press conference, after the conclusion of the extraordinary session, the mayors of the four Serb municipalities signed a joint declaration consisting of four points, stating the reasons for their decision to abandon the functions and any communication with the authorities in Pristina.

According to the first point, such a decision was made due to the introduction of inhuman charges of 100 percent on Serbian goods, which severely threatened the right to life, medical treatment and survival of Kosovo Serbs, leading into an even deeper crisis.

The second point states that the declaration is signed because of continuous violence, the beatings of Serbs, the unlawful arrests and an attempt to kill Milan Radoicic, which also jeopardizes the right to life to Serbs in Kosovo.

Point three lists violations of all international agreements, from (UN Security Council) Resolution 1244, the Brussels agreement, and CEFTA (regional free trade agreement), while point four states that the decision is made due to Pristina violating its own legal acts according to which the rights of the Serbs must be respected.

KFOR spokesperson Vincenzo Grasso told Tanjug on Monday that the exercises announced for the next days in northern Kosovo have already begun.

The history of the Kosovo-Serbia trade war

Blocking the import of goods from Serbia has made sense in the past. But without an economic vision, trade policies are determined ad hoc and Kosovo producers are left unprepared.

Albania's Rama Defends Kosovo Import Tax Hike

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama says he supports Kosovo's decision to hike import taxes on Serbian and Bosnian goods, calling it a justified political reaction to Serbia’s hostile acts.

At the fifth joint meeting of the governments of Albania and Kosovo in Peja, in Kosovo, the Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama backed the decision of the Kosovo government to raise the tax on imports from Serbia and Bosnia from 10 to 100 per cent.

Kosovo imposed the increase in taxes on Serbian and Bosnian imports on November 21. The EU has called on Kosovo to withdraw the decision, saying it contradicts the terms of Kosovo's membership of the CEFT regional free trade deal.

Rama said the new tax was politically justified. “The tariff is not an economical act, but it is a silent political reaction and an invitation for Serbia to stand with its feet on the ground, because the path to the future cannot be built with a knife in the back of Albanians,” Rama stated on Monday in Kosovo town of Peja/Pec.

“It [the tax rise] is an irrational condition in normal circumstances, but it is normal in an irrational situation. Whoever thinks the tariff is economical is wrong, it is political, because of the approach of Serbia,” he added.

According to Rama, Albania wants to cooperate with Serbia, but “Serbia cannot have one face with Albania and another with Kosovo”.

“They [Serbs] cannot bring in goods with the description 'Kosovo i Metohija'; they can keep 'Metohija' for themselves,” Rama stated, referring to the Serbian formula for the former province which declared independence in 2008
          .

Among other agreements signed between the Kosovo and Albanian governments is one on scrapping roaming charges for mobile communications networks and a protocol for joint customs at the Morine-Vermica border crossing point.

Rama said the police and customs from two countries would operate together in one joint point. “Kosovo and Albania will walk together, side by side, like the double-headed eagle,” Rama stated, referring to the Albanian national symbol.

Kosovo's Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development, Nenad Rikalo, who comes from the main Kosovo Serbian party, the Belgrade-backed Lista Srpska, warned that Kosovo Serbs will continue to oppose the hike in import taxes.

Withdrawal of the decision, Rikalo said, would send a message that life can continue peacefully in Kosovo

If the separation of Kosovo from Serbia was amount Albanian separating themselves from Serbia, then why should these Serb populated areas be part of Kosovo?

If Albanians in Kosovo see no issue unifying with Albania then why shouldn't the Serbs in Kosovo seek REunification with Serbia?

That's the big fat elephant in the room. I'm loving this. The Albanians actually believe Kosovo is theirs to do as they wish. It will be fun watching EU USA NATO UN try to justify any bit of this.

I think a reunification of northern Kosovo back with Serbia is warranted given the political games played by the Kosovars - what with border relaxation with Albania and import taxes from Serbia.

The shiptari in Kosovo should get a taste of their own medicine with what they are trying to do in Macedonia.

I was speaking with a Serb friend, who said Serbs wouldn't want to re-unify with Kosovo in full "why would we want to go back with them"

It really make one wonder how that decision was made and who made it. Why didn't those Serb populated areas remain part of Serbia. Why create the same problem all over again. No one can argue that Kosovo is historically Albanian territory. The only justification for the split from Serbia was to avoid ethnic conflicts and wars. Well then why the hell would you leave Serbs stranded in a now Albanian dominated country.

Then you have the delusional Albanians who can possibly take their fucking blinders off not matter the situation.

I also can wait until the shit finally hits the fan in that region. For decades the west has meddled and pasted over the cracks. We will find out if they finally broke the will of the balkanites or whether they will eventually fight back and solve their own problems.

Kosovo-Serbia Standoff Will Likely Ease, Experts Say

The resignations of several Serbian mayors in the north of Kosovo have created a fresh spike in Serbia-Kosovo tensions – but some Serbian experts expect the crisis to de-escalate shortly.

Kosovo to form army on Dec. 14, says parliament chief

Kosova's parliament to vote on establishing national army on Dec. 14, says head of parliament Kadri Veselji

Kosova's parliament to vote on establishing national army on Dec. 14, says head of parliament Kadri Veselji - Anadolu Ajansı

The national army of Kosovo will be officially established on Dec. 14, head of the country’s parliament said on Monday.

"We will officially have an army of Kosovo on Dec. 14, which is the date when the Kosovo Assembly will vote on the proposals of the law on the transformation of the security forces into the army," Kadri Veselji said at a news conference.

In October, the Kosova's parliament voted in support of establishing a 5,000-strong national army. However, Serb minority representatives opposed the move, declaring it "illegal".

Kosovo is a former Serbian province that unilaterally declared independence, but Belgrade insists the country remains part of Serbia.

Since then, tensions have remained between Kosovo’s ethnic-Albanian majority and a small Serb minority in the north.

Responding to the announcement, Serbian director of the Office for Kosovo said that the formation of Kosovo army is the “biggest threat to peace and security in the Balkans.”

"The establishment of this illegal formation would jeopardize everything that has so far been achieved in the process of normalizing Belgrade-Pristina relations,” Marko Djuric said in a statement.

He assessed that such a formation would contribute to “deepening the inter-ethnic distance in the region.”

Vucic said tonight two bad news arrived from Prishtina, 100% taxes will remain until Serbia recognizes Kosovo's independence, and that Kosovo will form an army, which is a signal of a catastrophe unless someone controls Pristhina.

Under the new agreement, Macedonia has nothing to do with this other than have an obligation to report this ethnic Macedonian from Albania to the Greek authorities.

...Later, a 44 year old Golden Dawn (Nazi) member ambushed Zifle as he was walking down the road, killed him with a hunting rifle and dragged his body into a ditch along the local road between Dragotin and Spartha, three kilometers from Lefkimi, where the murder took place.
As appalling as this article is, my attention is drawn to the name Dragotin. I'd be really interested to know how this town got its name.

It might have something to do with the Serb soldiers who stayed there for a time after doing the runner when the Austrians and Germans invaded during WW1.
