Respected scientists worldwide, not good enough for Macedonia

In what has become the norm for Macedonian institutions, countless Macedonian scientists who have earned the respect of prestige institutions and organizations are somehow just not good enough for their home country.

The last case is with Dr. Mirko Trajkovski who at the moment works as a scientist at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, working on the cure for diabetes. His work has been published in Nature magazine and is said to be very close to finding cure for diabetes, according to the latest research results.

Defects in insulin signalling are among the most common and earliest defects that predispose an individual to the development of type 2 diabetes. Dr. Trajkovski and his team have identified microRNAs as a new class of regulatory molecules that influence many biological functions, including metabolism. The research has shown that silencing of miR-103/107 leads to improved glucose homeostasis and insulin sensitivity.

The team had identified caveolin-1, a critical regulator of the insulin receptor, as a direct target gene of miR-103/107. Silencing miR-103/107 enhanced insulin signalling as the tests on mice showed. This has been identified as new treatment for obesity and type 2 diabetes.

34 year old Dr. Trajkovski being the patriot he is, attempted to transfer his knowledge and return to Macedonia ignoring the pile of euros he would easily get in salary in Europe or North America. Dr. Trajkovski has already been offered position in Boston, was asked to teach at Oxford and at a prestigious institute in Sweden, has been contacted by German corporations as well. Ironically, Dr. Trajkovski applied for jobs at Skopje's Medical and Pharma Institute!

He was denied by both places. Skopje's Medical Institute did not even consider his application, while the Pharma institute responded (emailed Dr. Trajkovski) after two months with a single sentence that they were not looking for someone with his profile,
but there were other jobs that just didn't fit him!

What Dr. Trajkovski didn't seem to understand is, the Pharma and Medical Institutes in Skopje have positions listed only for relatives. The nepotism at both institutes is remarkable. Very often newly hired young professors have relatives working for years at these Institutes. The relationships range from father-son, mother-son, mother-daughter, grand father-father-son. Everyone is related! It would be terrible for someone like Dr. Mirko Trajkovski to mingle with established "families" at these Institutes.

MINA has written numerous times of educated Macedonians attempting to return home and being denied at every level. There is great fear at Mak Institutions that these "outsiders" would disturb the "status-quo", expose the lack of knowledge and nepotism that's been the norm at these organizations for 20 years.

Years ago i read that there was no such thing as bulgarian long time ago to be replaced by the tatars. So make of that what you will.
One of my relatives in macedonia said that if there is a cure for diabetes it will definitely be found in macedonia as the are very close to getting to a cure. The problem is as soon as they find it it will be sold for an undisclosed sum,The fact is even scientists are selling their countries cures for money.
I think who ever offers the right money will get it.

DPA vs. DUI fight in Parliament prevented

Parliament speaker Trajko Veljanovski was forced to call in the security this morning as MP's from DUI and DPA came close to exchanging blows. Luckily all ended in a vicious verbal exchange.
The primary reason for the incident was attributed to Merail Ferati of the DPA who insulted members of the DUI party from the podium. Her speech brought up DUI's Talat Dzaferi to the podium who told DPA delegates "Some men you are, letting a lady defend you in Parliament".
Ibraimi and Imer Aliu of the DPA rushed towards Dzaferi with the goal to stop the DUI MP from talking any further.
Arben Labunishta of DUI came out to help Dzaferi, after which chaotic scenes ensued, close to a massive brawl.
Veljanovski quickly reacted by calling Parliament security and ending the session.

I find this a sexist remark.

Just shows how this race has not progressed through evolution. They are still cave men who show disrespect to woman. I wander if they still club their women and drag them by the hair.

Soros' "Open Society Foundations" Top Man in Macedonia Revealed as a Collaborator of the Communist Party Secret Police

          Canada NewsWire

          TORONTO, Aug. 9, 2011

TORONTO, Aug. 9, 2011 /CNW/ - The Republic of Macedonia is a country from the former Communist bloc, and a one-time member state of the federation of Yugoslavia. For the past twenty years, since its independence from Yugoslavia, Macedonia has struggled to do away with the last vestiges of the ostensibly abandoned totalitarian Regime. In 2009, under pressure from the European Union, Macedonia's Parliament adopted a law commonly known as Lustration. This act was envisioned as a means of cleansing the public of the Communist Party Secret Police (CPSP), former officials from the ostensibly abandoned Communist system and the current Oligarchy, by opening the files of the CPSP—which include severe violations of human rights and infringements into private citizens' lives. Further, lustration envisioned removing all proven collaborators of the CPSP from public posts and positions of influence. Shortly after the law's adaption, the Macedonian branch of the Soros funded OSF challenged the constitutionality of the most meaningful acts of the Law and managed to block all of them.

Presently, the breaking news from Macedonia is that the OSF-Macedonia head, Vladimir Milčin has been revealed as a collaborator of the CPSP. He is only the third public figure to have been outed by virtue of the castrated Lutstration Law. Of the other two, one is the man who was President of the Constitutional Court when OSF-Macedonia, lead by Milčin struck down the most meaningful parts of the Law.

Greece Detains Macedonian Journalists in Lerin PDF Print E-mail
              Tuesday, 16 August 2011

Milena Gjorgievska of daily Vest and Goran Momirovski of Kanal 5 were detained by Greek police earlier today while visiting Lerin with a group of Macedonians.

The group of Macedonians, all currently living in Skopje were born in Lerin and visited the small city to obtain their birth certificates.

-Myself and colleague Momirovski accompanied around 15 Macedonians from Skopje all hailing from Aegean Macedonia who for years can't obtain their birth certificate from local authorities. The official told them they need to go to the Greek consulate to obtain their birth certificates. They requested an explanation as to why would they need to go to a Consulate when they were born in Lerin and the certificates were here. The official was a woman so when she saw myself and Momirovski holding a camera, she became hysterical and called the police." says Gjorgievska.

"We were detained for two hours by the police, they took our passports and the cameras. Once they realized we were not there to film their offices and there was no footage on the camera, we were freed," adds Gjorgievska.

The Macedonian consul in Solun upon hearing of the detainment of Macedonian journalists was on his way to Lerin. Meanwhile the SE European Journalist Association SEEMO was alarmed about the incident. This isn't the first time Macedonian journalists are detained in Greece.

Greece of course had their own version of the incident: Greece's consulate in Skopje came out with a press release stating "Macedonian journalists were filming inside Governmental building hence the detainment". This contradictory stattement came despite the fact Greek police found no footage shot in or around the Government offices.

As part of their program, each year both Vest and Kanal5 send journalists to visit the Lerin region and film Macedonians celebrating holidays.

Стравот на Атина од овој Македонец одел до таму што го нарекле „Страшниот Чакаларов“ „гркоубиец“ и „крвожеден комитаџија“.

If you look at the times of post mine was fist, but that is not important. With the start of the radio station or should I say trying to get it approved, Pando Ashlakov told me that the government has amended the rule so that there has to be eight people working in the radio station full time, they have the people but not the money. Plus the live sermon given by a Greek priest spreading hate speech doesnt help.

This would be such a symbolic act if our government was to purchase all these shares.

Thats if we have any money left after financing all these Albanian projects.

Macedonians can buy part of Solun's port
                    Saturday, 10 September 2011

The Solun Port will be privatized by the end of the year.

24 percent of its shares will be put up for sale on the stock exchange and the Greek state-owned company will keep the majority share of 51 percent. The Greek offer opens a path for Macedonian companies to partake in the purchase of the port’s shares.

Experts claim that Macedonian companies could enter the company, but only if they act together and the state has to provide guarantees.

43 percent of the cargo transport in the Solun port pertains to Macedonian companies. Thus, Macedonian companies will be perceived as a serious partner, says Emilianos Mikalaitis deputy managing director of the port.
But then again knowing Greece's morals and ethical values, is it as good as throwing money away.

After all is said & done greece still thinks it has something to salvage. Also it has forgotten that the moralistic element that the aegean part of macedonia is not really their's to sell.It 's the macedonian people of that region. It's like a thief selling something they stole.it doesn't change anything.

Macedonian GDP records 5.3% Growth PDF Print E-mail
                            Friday, 23 September 2011

The Macedonian economy seems to be in a world of its own, with its GDP recording growth of 5.3% at times when everyone else is seeing red or hovers around the 1% mark.

The State Agency for Statistics this morning issued the results for the second quarter. The biggest increase was recorded in the Construction sector 26%, small businesses, automotive industry and home appliances recorded an increase of 18%, the energy companies, gas and water registered a 12.8% increase.

This is the second largest GDP increase for Macedonia at a time when most of the world is facing debt crisis. The biggest increase ever was recorded also in the second quarter, in 2008, when the GDP went up by 6.3%.

As a comparison, Macedonia's southern neighbour Greece in its second quarter registered a GDP decrease of 7.3%!

In the region, Romania's GDP went up by 0.2%, Slovenia's by 0.9% while its Banks were recently downgraded. Croatia registered an increase in GDP of 0.8%, Serbia of 2.2%, Bulgaria's GDP went up by 2% and Albania's by 3.4%.

Macedonia also recorded an increase in GDP in the first quarter at 5.1%. If this trend continues, Mak economy experts claim the country will surpass its expectations for this year. IMF earlier this year predicted growth of Macedonia's economy at a minimum of 3.5%.

If someone can find a more reliable source would be great

Macedonia are using computers and modern technology to promote an online program that teaches the Macedonian Language to students of Northern Greece.

The program is titled “Learn Macedonski Online” and the lessons begin on the 17th of October, while the formation of the classes will depend on the students’ applications.

According to the project leader, Mitko Giovanof “teaching will be done by teachers online and students will have an audiovisual communication with the teachers, following the terms of the latest computer technology”.

The lessons are going to be free of cost, following the official government curriculum and the classes will be divided into three levels:beginner, intermediate, advanced.
