It would be safe to say that, apart from a couple of words to make up the sentence, a Slavic-speaker from Bulgaria and Serbia to Slovenia, Poland and Russia, would not have a clue what the above means.

How about the word PULI, do the Bulgars or Serbs use it? (Torlak and Shop dialects obviously excluded). In Croatian, there is "buljiti" which means to 'stare', it seems pretty close? The difficulty with determining the origin of such words comes from the overlapping of the dialects during various periods in history. Macedonia was under Serb rule during the time of Stefan Dushan, but before that, Serbia was, in the context of an East Roman theme, under the influence of Skopje (capital of theme) and Ohrid (archbishopric), so it is difficult to say where some words originally come from.

What about the word BARAI, is this also a unique Macedonian word meaning to 'look for' or 'seek'?

I've very glad this thread was started and is going the right way, especially with locking the thread with the list of words. I tried to start the same thread on maknews once upon a time and it went the way of every other thread... a discussion on Macedonian identity, followed by ancient history, followed by god knows what...

sidor-iron for ironing clothes
plachki-clothes
patoritsa-cane
noshja-night

sidor ... I think the Greeks might try to claim it but it may be Turkish.
stis ... is there any other word for it it probably represents a construction method for pressed mud bricks.
plachki ... do you think it comes from oblechai si ?
patoritsa is the only one I have not heard, but makes sense.

RTG, here's my guess on the words,
stis- da stisnish an area or room with walls
plachki- from pletano
patoritsa- da odish po pat
As for sidor, do you use it?, someone once told me it was only used by a few Lerinci villages, and its probably Turkish/greek?

I have a cousin named Sidor. His father is from Ohrid and mother from Prilepsko.

So if it's not Macedonian in origin, then it's likely Turkish.

Sidor is used by us, it may well be a Greek word (I cannot find it used by the Turks).
I still think "stis" is from "pressed" bricks though.

As for sidor, do you use it?, someone once told me it was only used by a few Lerinci villages, and its probably Turkish/greek?

We say it 'sithero'

Us too, but for some reason we use it for boots as well , my Dad thinks it comes from, " da skornish na snego", to get up on the snow
