Rotten at the head is Macedonia.
The Macedonian people need to show they care before it is too late.

This is the classic Democrat/Republican bait and switch. Republicans play it off that they are "friendly to the balkan nations" and the Dem's view Macedonians and Serbs as dirty slavs who are treating the Albanian terrorists poorly.

there are no politicians of conviction and principles in the western political process and in the usa there have not been any politicians of any integrity for decades. but thats not our concern our main problem is the lack of political will and understanding of machiavellian politics within our own nation. our politicians are little pussy cats purring and hanging around their western heroes. frankly its pathetic this problem could be solved very quickly but it needs the courage and will to withdraw from the so called name negotiations immediately and if need be pack the greek ambassador of to athens asap.
the only nations who have a problem with our name are greece and france while shitcozy is president and his time is quickly running out.
to our macedonian politicians i say stram da vie ushte oro igrate so nashite dushmani.

grow some balls and take a leaf out of the Afghanistan resistance fight for your rights talking is getting you nowhere.

TM, So When Ambassador Phillip Reeker tells us that USA is the best friend we've ever had do you believe him? Talk is cheap, we've shown our efforts in peace keeping missions and fighting side by side with the American forces in Afghanistan and Iraq, if they wish to fight a war on terror they can do so, at least they should respect peoples names and identities and allow us to clean up their back yards in the process. The Americans will be our best friend by simply not interfeering with our efforts on the name issue aswell as our battles with the Albanian Terrorist fighters.

the usa's best friend is britain followed closely by australia its an anglo axis of evil and thats an indisputable fact.

sadly some of our macedonian brothers and sisters who live in the usa are blinded by the mirage that is amerika.

tm is not one of them he is a true macedonian in every way what a pity more us macedonians are not like him

Diplomatic back flips from big and powerful nations are very rare but Macedonia doesn't help the situation by asking for respect from others when clearly we're seen as being prepared to negotiate our own identity, that obvious lack of self respect is self defeating...

Perfectly stated. How can we possibly ask for respect when our own PM can't respect himself? His comments about Alexander to CNN are akin to the Greek PM saying the ancient Ionian colonies of Asia Minor are a shared history between Greeks, Turks and Arabs.

Meanwhile, Gruevski is putting up statues of Alexander in Macedonia. Show some consistency for Christ's sake, as a Macedonian I am not prepared to share my history where it relates specifically to the Macedonian people. End of story.
In the name of the blood and the sun, the dagger and the gun, Christ protect this soldier, a lion and a Macedonian.

The great Obama can jive talk and make some more "suggestions" to his macedonian "friends" but the reality is its the macedonian people who will end up deciding wether we continue to remain to be macedonians, as we have been since god knows when, or become something else and literally bend over a barrel.

Macedonia is almost there, it has survived the horrible 90's and the bull sh_t "civil war" of 2001. It has something like 127 countries that recognize macedonia, with more recognition happening in the future no doubt.
All we have to do is end the name negotiations and keep on forging good ties with the countries of the world while grease ends up killing itself.

Lets see if the macedonians realise just how close they are to victory, and DONT allow for any stupid weak politicians to mess things up with one signiture.

I would say a protest in Macedonia and only Macedonia would be more than enough. If all the people in Macedonia who said they would not change their name to get into the EU went out to protest. This matter would already be resolved.

Risto, there has had protests in the past but they have not resulted into anything, i think by taking this big step in having a world wide Macedonian protest is in a way very symbolic and it will show the world how much we care about the name Macedonia and how much we care about our Macedonian identity.
I am confident it will make a difference.

wikileaks - putting Reeker's threats to Macedonia in perspective?

Just read an article about Julian Assange and Wikileaks.

Given Reeker's threats re: Macedonia and the name issue, I thought I'd have look at the wikileaks site.

I found this linkk pretty interesting reading

                              Some selected extracts appear below:

" Kosovo should serve as a warning for those foolish enough to believe American clichs about "freedom" or the dubious benefits of "globalization."

Camp Bondsteel, located on rolling hills and farmland near the city of Ferizaj/Urosevac,is the largest U.S. military installation on the European continent. Visible from space ...... http://wikileaks.org/wiki/Special:Ju...NvbS9pZC80OTM3

As researcher and analyst Michel Chossudovsky wrote back in 2001, among the "inconvenient truths" unexplored by Western media is the close proximity of far-right Islamist terror gangs and planetary U.S. destabilization operations.

Since the Soviet-Afghan war, recruiting Mujahedin ("holy warriors") to fight covert wars on Washington's behest has become an integral part of US foreign policy. A report of the US Congress has revealed how the US administration--under advice from the National Security Council headed by Anthony Lake--had "helped turn Bosnia into a militant Islamic base" leading to the recruitment through the so-called "Militant Islamic Network," of thousands of Mujahedin from the Muslim world.

The "Bosnian pattern" has since been replicated in Kosovo, Southern Serbia and Macedonia. Among the foreign mercenaries now fighting with the KLA-NLA are Mujahedin from the Middle East and the Central Asian republics of the former Soviet Union as well as "soldiers of fortune" from several NATO countries including Britain, Holland and Germany. Some of these Western mercenaries had previously fought with the KLA and the Bosnian Muslim Army. (Michel Chossudovsky, "Washington Behind Terrorist Assaults in Macedonia," Global Research, September 10, 2001)

Fast forward seven years and one can hypothesize that the BND, stepping on the CIA's toes and that agency's cosy intelligence "understanding" with Mafia-linked KLA fighters and al-Qaeda assets, would have every reason to sabotage the BND's organized crime operations--not that the German military intelligence service's hands are any cleaner!

While we may never know all the facts surrounding this curious affair, one thing is certain: the role played by powerful Mafia gangs as a source for black funds, intelligence assets and CIA "agents of influence" will continue. Administrations come and go, but like motherhood and apple pie the shadowy workings of America's deep state is an eternal verity you can count on!

Guess you need to catch up on the last 8 years, mate! Camp Bondsteel is closing; yanks and KFOR leaving ahead of schedule. They haven't paid much attention to Macedonia for years. Why do you want to be in NATO? Just drop the NATO stuff and move on--the Americans and Canadians and Brits and Germans, etc., etc. only push it because you say you want in. Why do you want to be partners with Greece anyway?? Macedonia can go its own way -- Switzerland of the Balkans; Grujo can lead us there!
