From the book :"In the shadow of Macedonia"

Visiting Belgrade on September 1971 the Greek minister for foreign affairs (my note, there was military junta in Greece these days) Ksanthopoulos-Palamas answered to his Ju colleague who asked for the recognition of a Macedonian nation : " Athens is applying the international law and want to have relations with Yu as a state , not with its individual republikas. If in the future a consisting part of Yu acquires independance then we 'll deal with it. As for the Macedonian minority in Greece, it does not exist. In Northern Greece exist onle few slavic speakers. After the 1st world war the people who didnt feel Greeks left for Bulgaria. During the Greek civil war all those who didnt feel Greeks were expelled. Look at what freedom has done.
Yeah, it has brought out every insecurity Greece has ever had in its short existence. I can't wait for the next chapter.

Greece created a name dispute, where there wasn't one.

I don't believe the Greek media.
Since Republika Makedonija was founded in 1945 of course there wasn't such a problem.

No Traveller, before greece came into the possession of 51% of Macedonia's territory there was no problem.

You deserve a broken jaw if you really think Macedonia was founded in 1945 you piece of shit.

I was referring to Nezavisna Republika Makedonija or something like that. The province of Jugoslavija. For anything else i will stick to UN negotiations' result. Till then i respect your right to call yourselves as you like.

Now , what has happened because it is making big headlines in Greece. It seems that a friend of Greece in Washington intercepted a message of a former US ambassador to Skopje (i didnt understand well, i think they said she which was sent to US goverment and the Army (!!!???). In this message it is clear that the last Nimitz's proposal is a product of negotiations between US officials and Gruevski and it was served to Nimitz. I remind you that Nimitz is appointed by UN not the Americans...What the message said: The name will be North Macedonia and the ethnicity and language Macedonian. The trick was that they would appear for UN approval only the name and that the ethnicity and language would appear in annexes to the UN security counsil in which there would be no veto or voting and Greece could not intervene. The socialist party in Greece today say that Mr Nimitz's role is murky and he must give explanations. He denied to do so at the time we are talking. It seems that Greece has a grave enemy who is called the "Bush administration".

Just read the news that Gruevski had a number of attempts on his life in the past year.

The Macedonians have so many enemies - it could have been anyone. Greeks, Albanians, Europeans ... who knows.

It's Macedonians. The underground/mafia and those who support an opposing ideology.
