Makedonetz, The Greeks have labbled Gruevski as the most stubborn person they've negotiated with, he wont change our name or identity. Like i said months ago, the longer these talks go on the stronger we get. We are in a much better position now then when we where 6 months ago.

The pressure and media hype will rise soon again with the EU enlargement process. Remember last December they said that finding a compromise would be too soon (for December) but ample time for next June.

Now they are saying the same thing that June is too soon and best to wait for the next NATO talks later this year.

I only wish our resolve grows to abandon the talks with each passing phase.

Well 52% in Mk are apposed to this name change and i read they came out with a few "other" names for our considerations

Qoute"The addition of the determinant “Northern” enjoys the greatest support – 27 per cent, followed by “Vardar” with nine and “Upper Republic of Macedonia” with two per cent."

Survey Shows Limited Support for Name Compromise

Macedonians are in no mood to accept a change in their country’s constitutional name as a means to reach a compromise with neighboring Greece, the latest opinion poll by local daily Dnevnik has shown.

The complete survey revealed on Wednesday by one of the country's most read dailies shows that the public is sharply divided over this crucial issue, on which the country’s EU and NATO perspective depends.

Asked if they would accept a geographic determinant to be added to the official name Republic of Macedonia if the identity and the country's EU, NATO membership were guaranteed, 52 per cent of respondents said no, while 44 per cent were in favour.

The addition of the determinant “Northern” enjoys the greatest support – 27 per cent, followed by “Vardar” with nine and “Upper Republic of Macedonia” with two per cent.

Asked if Macedonia should continue to search for a name compromise with Greece, 51 per cent of respondents said they should be unilaterally interrupted, while 48 per cent favour their resumption.

However, the survey indicated a significant difference in the opinions of the two main ethnic groups on these issues. 79 percent of ethnic Albanian respondents support the continuation of the talks, whereas the percentage among ethnic Macedonian respondents is much lower, standing at 36 per cent.

The vast majority of ethnic Macedonians - about 80 per cent - believe that in addition to changing the name Greece is demanding that citizens give up their national identity. 44 per cent of ethnic Albanians in the poll share the same opinion.

60 per cent of respondents believe that Macedonia may join the EU and NATO without changing its name, while 36 per cent hold the opposite opinion.

Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski's policies enjoy the approval of 48 percent of those surveyed, in comparison to 45 per cent who disapprove. The opposition parties' policies on the name issue are supported by 32 per cent of respondents, while 54 per cent disapprove.

The editor-in-chief of Dnevnik, Saso Kokalanov, presented the data and noted that the survey revealed an interesting pattern related to age groups.

He said that there is larger flexibility regarding the name issue among younger people. A majority of 53 per cent of respondents between the ages of 18 and 29 support efforts to find a compromise, while those older than 65 tend to hold more hardline positions.

Macedonia and Greece have been stuck in a name row for almost two decades. The issue escalated in 2008 when Greece blocked Macedonia’s NATO entry over the dispute. Last December Athens prevented Skopje from getting a start date for its EU accession talks, citing the same problem.

Greece insists that the name Republic of Macedonia must be changed, arguing that it indicates territorial claims against its own northern province, also called Macedonia.

The UN led talks on the issue, which have been going on for years, have so far failed to provide a compromise. Observers have speculated that the determinant "Northern", which could establish the difference between the state and the province, has the greates chance of being accepted by both sides.

Gruevski: We want solution not harming state and national interests

We are interested in a name solution that won't harm national and state interests. Unless a compromise is reached acceptable for the citizens without harming the state and national interests, then we would support it, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski stated on Tuesday.

              - I'm not against it. On the contrary, I champion solution, but I have said that a solution cannot be accepted with threats, which the citizens do not want and which is estimated to do harm. If a compromise solution is found that is acceptable for the citizens and doesn't damage the state and national interests, we would gladly support it and hopefully the citizens would support it, too. We are interested in achieving success in the process of settling this issue we're facing, said Gruevski when asked to comment opposition reactions that he was not interested in a name settlement following his address at the annual assembly of the VMRO-DPMNE Union of Young Forces over the weekend.

Asked about a possibility of early elections to be held this year, Gruevski said it was not planned.

              - All announcements, forecasts and analyses that early elections are planned this year are not correct, said the PM.

Speaking about the relations with coalition partner DUI, Gruevski said regular communication was taking place with party's leadership, that dialogue was continuous, which was closed for certain issues.
              1) Macedonians belong to the "older" Mediterranean substratum...
              2) Macedonians are not related with geographically close Greeks, who do not belong to the "older" Mediterranenan substratum...

Blind faith and wishful thinking or the words of a faithful party follower - partiski vojnik, IME!

Q1. Has Grujo broken his promises from before?
Q2. Did he and his party promise NEVER to enter into coalition government with UCK TERRORISTS - DUI?
Q3. Does (or did) he support TREASONOUS deals and agreements that are against Macedonian national interests?
Q4. Does he implement and endorse the Ramkoven dogovor?
Q5. Did he VOTE ZA/FOR the Ramkoven Dogovor (aka Framework Agreement) as a CABINET MINISTER in 2001?
Q6. Did Grujo support (or has he ever publicly opposed) the Agreement signed between Bulgaria and Macedonia in 1999 where RoM officially ceased to be concerned about Macedonian national minority in Bulgaria, amongst other concessions going against our Macedonian national interest?
Q7. Did Grujo ever oppose any of the many anti-Macedonian BUGAROMAN policies, acts and decisions of LG and his ministers during 1998 -2002 DPMNE governing reign?
Q8. Was Grujo not the chosen successor of the greatest (crypto) Bugaroman - LjuBcho Georgievski to become the party President in 2003 whilst his mentor and sponsor was declared "Honorary President" and pulled the political strings until their split in 2004?
Q9. Does Grujo not endorse and fully implement the treasonous "Interim Accord" of 1995 (In fact he is suing Greece for non-compliance, i.e. he is for its full implementation more so than anybody else!)?
Q10. Does Grujo promote the SYMBOL of TREASON and CAPITULATION - The VENTILATOR "STATE FLAG" with pomp and ceremony and sponsors spin-doctors to spin delusional stories about its supposedly ancient origin and design inspiration (which can not be found in the period of 1995-1998, in the time of the rule of the original designers - SDSM!)?

                Original Grchev stylised design flag
Its relation to ancient rock art (and similar theories) is to be found only in the delusions of the current supporters of the SDSM Ventilator and the spin-doctors trying to drum up support for it use!

Defence forces is another sector of Macedonian national interest sold out by Grujo!

                  @indigen

                  Great summary.

I am still wanting to hear an explanation from the VMRO-ci about Gruevski in his silence whilst LG was a bugarofil and looking at cutting up the country? Why did he remain silent, as a cabinet minister? Then all of a sudden becomes a successor.
Also none of them want to bring up the fact Gruevski went to Bucharest in 2008 with the aim to accept a modified name for RoM, and we can thank Dora for us still being called RoM, becuase she would not accept the name Macedonia in any form. The accpetable name for Grujo was RoM-Skopje or Northern Macedonia. To both the Greeks said no.

UMD jumped to support this. Even to this day, their explanation is that they only followed government policies at that time. If that was accpetable to the government, then it was acceptable to them.

When Gruevski was questioned on TV if he was prepared to give in at the NATo summit, he did not deny it, although he did not say yes either. That means there is some truth. I am sure we will be reading this in future Dora's biography of how great Gruevski is.
This might explain why he wants to keep on negotiating our name....

I smell something fishy here, with too many inconsistencies in certain posts from a certain character.

It would seem that people with an agenda, likely non-Macedonians, are misleading the Macedonians.

Indigen, I guess DA and SDSM thought it was too patriotic for their thinking.

I know its not enough, but he's not going to put all his cards on the table. The fact that Greece and their spies are frustrated is already proof enough that he's standing up to them.

Ljubco and Ljube have been fierce critics of Grujo and what is Grujo going to talk about when they are right down the bottom with no trust or support from anyone. Tomorrow is the EU-Western Balkans summit in Sarajevo.

Here is what Antonio Miloseski had to say:

Greece with Macedonia can demonstrate that "Agenda 2014" is a realistic project, Milososki says

Macedonia is always in the mood to resume the dialogue surrounding the issue imposed by Greece 20 years ago, but I believe that in the spirit of EU, Athens needs to be given a chance to demonstrate with deeds and actions that what is rhetorically being announced as the Agenda 2014 is a realistic project, Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Milososki said Tuesday.

He is in Sarajevo, where he is set to take part at the EU-Western Balkan meeting on Wednesday, which will be held under an initiative of Spain's EU presidency.

If it is a real project, then, Milsosoki stated, Macedonia is the first country that might be a part of that successful story, which could begin in Sarajevo or at the end of Spain's presidency with a decision reached by consensus that Macedonia should start membership talks.

                                - Macedonia has been demonstrating that it is ready for a dialogue which would result in a compromise. However, it should be stressed that EU member countries, in this case Greece, should not abuse irrational and bilateral issues for rational needs of the entire region and the credibility of EU, the Macedonian FM stated after his meeting with Bosnian counterpart Sven Alkalaj.

The Bosnian FM moreover noted that bilateral rows, such as the Macedonian-Greek and Slovenian-Croatian issues, must be solved prior to the EU membership of Western Balkan countries.
