Citizens on A1: Our Journalists are like Prostitutes...

Everyone saw through Velija Ramkovski, strangely even the SDSM-run printed media.

Katerina Blazevska of Dnevnik which is closely associated with the opposition claims it was a huge mistake for the SDSM to use the 'Live TV' feed from the station in order to create an incident, thinking they'll earn few political points. "I did not want to be present at the same location with people (SDSM) who were not there to protect anyone rather wanted to find themselves in front of the camera. The SDSM politicians and activists saw the live feed as simply another chance to bad mouth Gruevski and the ruling Government" says Blazevska.

Nova Makedonija speaks of a legitimate action by the Taxation Office who for months were not allowed to visit the 40 companies registered at Pero Nakov b.b. "Of course, this action turned into a circus thanks to A1's owner and SDSM activists," says Nova Makedonija.


Chief editor of Vest, Goran Mihajlovski, says he strongly supports the work of the financial police specifically in reviewing the business dealings of Velija Ramkovski.

Mihajlovski states Ramkovski's unlawful business dealings are a threat to his own newspaper as well as the democracy in the country.

Utrinski Vesnik, another printed daily closely affiliated with the SDSM in its editorial piece "Inspectors visit Ramkovski, A1 accuses of intrusion" quotes the press release from the Macedonian Institute for Media which stated A1 TV has been abused by its owner for poilitical and personal business dealings.

Skopje residents are not happy with A1, all of them saw through the scandal it wanted to create, some go as far as to call the 'journalists' who work there "prostitutes who would write and say anything for the right money".

Ohrid's mayor Aleksandar Petreski and the city council has decided to award their city's highest award to A1 TV Owner's Velija Ramkovski.

While Ohrid's citzens are disgusted with where "St Kliment" award was headed, the SDSM run city boasts there was no one more deserving than their friend, Mr. Ramkovski.

Ohrid residents believe their award has become a joke because for a second time in a row "criminals associated with the SDSM" are the ones receiving it.

A1's owner is an alleged criminal, currently sued by the city of Skopje and the Taxation Office.

The City of Skopje has failed to receive utility payments from A1's owner for 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010. According to Skopje's mayor A1 owes 500,000 Euros + interest in unpaid utilities. The City of Skopje also alleges Velija Ramkovski has not paid registration fees for most of his companies, nor has he obtained permits from the HealthCare authority to produce foods and beverages. The last Skopje mayor Trifun Kostovski attempted to collect unpaid utilities from A1 TV (Sinim, Vreme Ech, Aks-Stra), however was faced with a month long personal attacks by the TV station, asking for his resignation.

The Taxation Office while investigating the first on the list of Ramkovski's companies has discovered fraudulent accounting in which he owes 1.5 million euros to the state.

Granted, Velija Ramkovski has some issues in Skopje, but not in Ohrid.

Ohrid's mayor Aleksandar Petreski applauded A1's owner for building the 'bridge of hope', although they admit the bridge was built without a building permit and could be unsafe.

The president of the comission Violeta Mickoska says A1's owner deserved the award because he showed a commercial about Ohrid for free.

I am ashamed to admit that all of my family in Ohrid are SDSM supporters, but i guess it no longer matters who you vote for in macedonia, VMRO and SDSM are both fighting hard to become FYROM

Letra - We are Mocking St Kliment's Holiness

Ohrid residents continue to have difficulties getting over the recently issued St Kliment award to A1 TV Owner's Velija Ramkovski.

Nobody more than Zoran Veljanovski - Letra, the president of "Ohrid Summer" Festival and a 2004 recepient of St Kliment who did not wish to publicly comment on the latest recepient, and will speak on the matter tomorrow during a meeting which was scheduled as a result of the announcement by the Ohrid's mayor in regards to the award for 2010.

The Board of Ohrid Summer Festival is not thrilled that apart from Mr. Ramkovski they too will share the St Kliment award as an organization for 2010.

Several of the Festival members are said to be disgusted with Ohrid's mayor and specifically with A1 TV Owner. They believe it's incomprehensible for the city of Ohrid which is world famous and for 50 years brings world renowned artists to give an award to a man associated with strip tease joints and financial fraud.

Unoficially, we find that Ohrid Summer Festival's board may not accept the St. Kliment award. According to them, the award will not contribute too much to the dozens of other awards the festival has received, though they certainly will not share one with A1's Owner. The Festival simply wants to protect St. Kliment's Holiness.

As each day passes, it only gets better, especially if you earn your money in Macedonia as a comedian. And it's all thanks to the TV station called "A1 TV" and the individuals it illegally employs, at least on paper.
MINA and A1 go way back and nurture amusing relationship which culminated in 2008 when MINA awarded A1 with a �Foscar� . We never received a �thank you� from A1�s management, possibly because there wasn�t cash in our package, rather a statue, a Foscar.

There should be no questions that the 2009 and 2010 Foscars also as expected went to A1. Simply no one can beat this station and its �journalists�.

A1�s success can be attributed first and foremost to its owner. Through his humble beginnings as an illegal manufacturer of detergent, food and drinks, Velija Ramkovski rose through the ranks in creating a TV station with an American credit line that hasn�t been repaid. The motto of the station is very simple: You Give Us Cash and We Will Say Anything in Your Favor. The �screw the facts, show us the cash� business model has brought great success for the station, although there have been few hiccups with �journalists� sued for �libel� and ordered to pay thousands of euros in damages to public officials and citizens.

Mak Media for few days now reported on cash payments being given out to journalists. A1�s chief editor was given 46,000 denars in Cash each month and 24,000 as �salary�. The cash payments were documented in a set of books which were taken out by A1�s �journalists� who as they stated were �prevented� by the police to perform their duties. Their duties being �hide all the double accounting documentation�.
Some of the �journalists� ended up driving away with loads of cash and documentation, hiding it in an empty apartment in Cair, not realizing they were being followed by the police who later entered the apartment. The police found a pile of 100,000 euros in cash spread out on a table. The cash was destined to go to �journalists� for their lovely anti Macedonian and anti Government theatrics disguised as �news�. Where did this cash come from is another topic.

A1 �journalists�, faced with attacks from other TV stations and media, wrote 8 articles in 3 days how �objective� and �neutral� they were. That�s nice, untaxed money, cash that keeps coming in, isn�t this illegal? Do you still wonder why A1�s �journalists� were so theatrical a fortnight ago in defending Ramkovski�s businesses? The hysteria, provoking the police, the hair pulling, the crazed suicidal statements�they were simply defending their cash supply.

It gets better. Ramkovski afraid of d-day for him, spoke on his TV Station that the current Government three years ago had financed a TV campaign that he knew came from taxpayers money. Ramkovski�s logic was to attack the Government, with something� anything. Two days later Velija afraid of a lawsuit from the Government for Alfa TV denied ever saying such thing, and blamed his �journalists� for losing control in their reporting because of �euphoria�!

So, with the news that George Soros is buying one hundred political �reporters� for National Public Radio (NPR), one waits with bated breath for the left to decry the fact that a famous anti-American leftist is buying and influencing the �news.�

One will likely wait in vain, too.

In fact, The New York Times doesn�t even mention the left-wing ideology of the foundation that is supplying $1.8 million to NPR so it can hire political reporters across the country.

The left-wing Open Society Foundations is donating the large sum to NPR for a project being called �Impact of Government.� The project is planning to add at least 100 reporters across the country to cover local state house politics to fill the holes left by the firing of so many local reporters due to the contraction in the field of journalism over the last decade.
One might look at this plan and imagine that it isn�t such a bad idea. If states have lost reporters ready to hold local politicians accountable why is it so bad for $1.8 million to be spent to fill that gap? But in the NYT piece one can see why this donation should raise eyebrows instead of making folks feel at ease that the plan is merely helping fill a reporting gap.

Ms. Schiller said the journalists would not be part of typical statehouse coverage, but instead would work on enterprise journalism that looks at how state government decisions play out over years, and extend beyond a single state�s borders.

What exactly does �enterprise journalism� mean? This sure smacks of agenda journalism as opposed to mere reporting, doesn�t it? And even if that isn�t the intent, the rhetoric here is suspicious.

But what makes this all even more suspicious is the source of the $1.8 million donation. The Open Society Foundations was founded by well-known anti-American George Soros. Yet, nowhere in the news is this made clear to readers.

One might recall the hullabaloo that was raised when it was revealed that News Corp, owner of Fox News, had donated one million dollars to Republicans for this election cycle. It was the end of the world as far as the left was concerned. It was �proof� that Fox could not be trusted.

Yet, here we have George Soros buying reporters for NPR, the same Soros who has an extremely left-wing agenda that he has been pushing on the world for decades. After all, if the assumption that conservatives owning Fox makes its news slanted, shouldn�t the same logic dictate that anything Soros owns reflects his ideology? Shouldn�t we assume that NPR�s new reporters will be left-wing hacks bought and paid for by one of the richest, most active, most extreme left-wing activists in the world?

So what is the difference between a left-wing billionaire buying 100 reporters for NPR and Fox News being owned by conservative owners? Why has the Old Media establishment completely ignored the extremist agenda of the foundation making such a large donation to NPR? Why isn�t NPR to be suspected of being a left-wing mouthpiece now?

The answer to this question can only be that the Old Media establishment is already bought and paid for by the far left and would never raise questions that might reflect badly on a left-wing agenda. Only conservatives need �outing� as far as the Old Media is concerned.

That George Soros owns NPR like this? Well, that�s just a little secret between you and me.
