    I know Risto, I know...

but I'm still young and naive and think that there must be some reason, logic and own-thought somewhere deep inside them, just waiting to come out.

      Demos,
Isn't that what the Albanians who populated Greece did when Greece was created?

So are you telling me the glorious Macedonians had their own language etc, but decided to drop it and adopt the tongue of the migrating and barbarian Slavs who didn't even have an alphabet?

I think your modern "greek" culture is a fluke. It has deluded your brain to the point of rational thinking.

You wouldn't know what rational is even if Alexander the Great rose from the dead and told you (in Greek of course)..

Trust me, YOU wouldn't know what rational is if Ali Pasha rose from the dead and told you in your true mother tongue.

But one day, Sasha Veliki woke up and said "Screw it...I'm not going to speak my language anymore. I'm going to only speak Greek. I'm going to force my entire "nation" to speak Greek. Thanks for that powerfully impotent version of sarcasm.
Do you believe that Slavs migrated into Macedonia in the 6th century?
Why don't we see Slavic texts for yet another 300 years?
Deal with the question and let me know.

When you can't answer ... then please feel free to take a moment to think about the chance of another language existing prior to the 300 years of known Slavic domination (yet known lack of written language).

It is most likely like this, the upper classes spoke some form of "Greek" in addition to their Macedonian language, the lower classes spoke only Macedonian.

Move forward in time 'till we reach the 19th century and we find the same exact thing, towns people thus merchants spoke Greek in addtition to their Macedonian but their peasant neighbors spoke only Macedonian.

The Macedonian Saints indeed taught them how to write. But what were the people doing prior to those 300 years? Were they somehow more enlightened? If they were, they must have been so enlightened that they got the shit kicked out of them. And indeed who was it that got the shit kicked out of them if we are to believe your history books .... the Romans of course. Why do you have such an uncomplicated and simplistic view of history? Is it convenient? Is this why you cannot face up to simple truths about the lives of the ancients?

Correct me if I am wrong.
                          (In other words don't)
But slaves in what is now Southern Greece used to write texts and assisted in all manners of education. They were not Hellenes, they were not even allowed to take part in the glorious democracy for the privileged few. People like you can even get an education nowadays so it would appear anything has always been possible.

It could have been funny. But he was trying to use a modern language to describe historic names. Nobody does that. The Greeks circumvented this problem by adopting an archaic language relatively recently and then using those names to identify with an ancient race. Which is funnier?

                              Risto,

If you ever see "Sasha Veliki" inscription unearthed anywhere at Heraklea or even "Aleksandar" call me...until then "mour mou" as we say in Greece...

I'd respect you guys if you told me...okay yes. We are not related to the ancient Macedonians who are clearly Greeks in language, culture, and religion, but we did migrate to Macedonia in x century and have been living here since.

If you had the balls for once be honest with yourselves, I'd respect that and so would many Greeks. It's not the name that pisses us off the most, but the clear distortion of history.
