does anyone know if Macedonia has microsims? can I buy a prepaid data microsim for use with an ipad?
I've checked the t-mobile website and they do have ip4's but doesn't mention anything in the prepaid section about microsims :-(

I am a little bummed about it all since I've had the same SIM and number since mobimak days :-( gonna miss my 070 number

Oh well with the way of the ozzie dollar it's ok to go for a holiday.

I had no idea anyone took this forum so seriously.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Melbourne Macedonians are strange.

What seems to be the problem Bij...?

Through this and other forums I've had the great pleasure in catching up with other guys from Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney and Perth.
I've done exactly what this thread is all about, I've caught up with a couple of Sydney guys at Rascekor...so I don't understand what it is that you find so "strange" about Melburnians...

Clearly some blokes like 'prolet' like to keep their identity a secret, that's his business but to tar everybody else with the same brush and label them "strange" is a bit strange...

You're right GS, I'd much prefer to be at the Tassie end of business...

Pheonix, I certainly didn't mean to offend you. Clearly there are exceptions to every rule (and you just may be it??).

I've spent the better part of the last year working in Melbourne, and other than going home every second weekend, I spend most of my time here, so I feel that I can throw out some social commentary without it becoming a Sydney v Melbourne thing (which, by the way, only people from Melbourne bring up).

In the time that I've been here, I've tried to reconnect with Macedonians from Melbourne that I met in Bitola, as well as relatives, family friends, forum friends and randoms that live in Melbourne and I've found the following:

(these are all generalisations that are going to offend you. take them with a grain of salt, but remember YOU ASKED what the problem was)

                  - Melbourne Macedonians are .... tight arses. Sorry, there's no better word or title for it. I've been out with guys who will take you out on a first date and then make suggestions as to what you should/shouldn't eat based on the price of the item and then want to split the bill I've been out with relo's who have wanted to split a $12 pizza because it was "expensive" (even though I offered to shout) and I've been taken out by "friends" for "dinner" who have suggested fast food outlets like maccas and KFC to save a few bucks I thought this was just me, but speaking to a Serbian girl who lived in Melbourne her whole life, she told me Macedonians in Melbourne have a reputation for being tight. What amuses me is there appears to be no shame in discussing how to stretch a dollar... This is just on the social front which is one of many aspects where I've seen Macedonians skint a few dollars... trying to keep this post short.

                  - Melbourne Macedonians are Fashion Challenged... especially the men. I found this funny considering Melbourne is the supposed fashion capital of Australia but alas... most Macedonian men prefer to wear trackies and jumpers around... sigh. This may have something to do with the below point.

                  - Melbourne Macedonians are a little bit old fashioned. The homes I've been to have had furniture and decorations in them I haven't seen in Sydney since the late 80s. It's really weird seeing piperki hanging up around the house still but that may just be my family (we don't have a bafcha or anything made of vegetation hanging around the house). I don't know if this is because the Macedonian community in Melbourne is much stronger and has more solidarity than the one in Sydney and therefore seems to be sticking to the olden days a bit more?? Neznam..

Having said all of that, I think Melbourne Macedonians are much much nicer than their Sydney counterparts. Sydney Macedonians are a pretentious, snobby bunch. Think they are cast members for jersey shore or something. If the Melbourne Macedonians weren't such tightwads I think I could look past the weird fashion and taste in homewares and it might even be a little kitsch in a cute way, but no... very little respect for a man who takes you out and asks you to drink water so you don't have to pay for beverages because "why pay when you can get it for free??". I wish this was a once off experience

So, Pheonix, with the reported behaviours of Prolet, that's my problem with Melbourne Macedonians.

Sadly Bij is correct. The Melbourne Macedonians still wear those awful slippers that used to be prevalent in the 1980's and they all have horrible accents. In direct contrast, the Macedonians from Adelaide are the George Hamiltons of the Australian Macedonian community. Suave, endearing and fashionably poignant.

i'll be taking some friends of mine to Macedonia. They were really keen to come and see what it's like. I also noticed that since Macedonia was mapped on google maps, local businesses have jumped on and geo-tagged their accommodation and got themselves on trusted sites like expedia and tripadvisor. It's great to see, and goes to show what an impact google maps can have on small business. All excellent for Macedonia's tourism industry, which can now use the fact that it has non cookie-cutter hotels and attractions, attracting those after a more personalised and genuine experience.

Looking forward to it.. it's been years!

Her rambling tirade about so-called pizza cheaters actually says more about her and the company she keeps rather than Macedonians in Melbourne.

This is rich since you keep rejecting my offer to meet up. But that's OK, I've been told I can be intimidating to men. Must be the stikli

Honestly I find Melbourne a bit lonely. Tough to go from a family home that is always brimming with people and gosti to an inner city flat on my own. Sooooooooooo I go out with anyone who wants to, at least once. What can I say? I'm friendly!

sigh..... I said the most flattering things about Melbourne Macedonians and you're hung up on the tapestry that's on the wall in the lounge room.

I've never seen them, so I wouldn't know how intimidating you look when you're wearing only your stikli.

There are probably some other adjectives that could also be applied, but let us not get caught up with the tapestry on the wall
