We are Macedonian and we have been dealt a harsh card by Greece. There is no doubting this.

There's a reason why I'm in Australia and you're in America, and that's because Greece isn't a very friendly place.

I live in Greece Mikail. Its not such a harsh place, if you ask me we have too much freedom here. Anybody can do what they want, thats why we are in this financial mess. Trust me on this. Let me tell you this as well, because you seem like a nice person. I used to hate Turks like no tommorrow because I was a Diasporite like you. Then I went to Turkey and my opinion changed completely due to the people I met and how they treated me. Dont mix politics with people. Come and see for yourself if you will have problems speaking Macedonian or even telling people you are. One of my best buddies is a Turk. Its not all what it seems Mikail.

You do have options Mikail. If you dont like Greek Orthodox then dont go. Go to Macedonia one day and baptise your child there and completely disregard the Greek Church. Why is that not doable ?

I a proud Macedonian from the Aegean have decided to go and baptize my son with a Macedonian name. So he does not have to pretend like me, I have a Greek name but only use it in official matters, at home and with friends I go by my Macedonian one.
Said and done, I went to Bitola and baptized him. I also reverted his last name to our old family name.
Now I need to apply for some official documents in my son's name, passport and the like. Can my son even be a Greek citizen without a Greek name and last name?
What will happen, will this whole scenario even be possible to do?

I do have relatives from the Kozani region. Hellenised Vlachs as are my cousins. But my primary ancestral home is from Constaninople and Peloponnese.

My point exactly. So you have nothing to do with Macedonia, since your relatives are Vlachs. Try to be more open on what might has actually happened to a region that has seen all Turks, Bulgarians, Greeks, Macedonians, Vlachs etc etc over the centuries.

As a matter of fact you can. I personally went through the process myself. I was given my full Greek name when I became a citizen. I prefered to use my First and Last American name ( My last name was shortened in the USA, my dad changed it when he arrived ) I was born with my US last name and lived with it all my life until I became a Greek citizen. The Greek municipality does not recognize any changes made in a foreign country ( which make sense ). I went through the name change process and after 6 months it was done. Nothing was said to me. I only had to write the reason why I wanted it change and they had to do a background check to make sure I wasnt a criminal trying to hide from the law. Today I have my anglosized name on my Greek ID. I can give you more details on how its done if you like.

First, you state that your cousins are HELLENISED vlachs and then you ask me if I am refuting Vlachs as Greeks. Are YOU ok man?

All I said is that you haven't lived in the region and you don't have experience about it.

No your not fine. If I was to just say Vlachs in comparison to Hellenised Vlachs such as Sarakatsanoi then you would of gotten the wrong picture. Dont know what your trying to prove, but you dont have to prove it to me. katalaves ?
