Ah but RTG if not for cloud technology with all your sensitive data floating about how are they going to achieve Big Brother knowing your every move second by second like in George Orwell’s 1984 written in 1950...I guess they got the date a bit wrong.

The National Broadband is also a bit of a concern…just my spidy tingles or is that spydie tingles…considering it will be one network setup by the government wholesaling to ISPs…I wonder how hard will it be to stick a filter on it tracking your exact data uploads and downloads.

For Video Download Helper to work as mentioned you need to have the video already playing but once the download has started properly ie its telling you 3 percent 4 percent downloaded ect a neat trick to make the download go faster is to pause the video being displayed while the same file is being downloaded. It isn’t the fastest program but seems to download from more sites…where DAP fails…and hence its real advantage.

Hackers steal cars no problem with smart keys

Идејата за користење на паметни картички наместо кодиран автомобилски клуч може да изгледа пософтицирана и попрактична, но далеку е од сигурна, сметаат европските научници.

The idea of using smart cards instead of coded car key can appear more sophisticated and more practical, but it is far from certain, according to European scientists.

Scientists from the Swiss Institute of Technology have managed to break through the protection of ten different systems with smart car keys using publicly available computer equipment whose value does not exceed 1,000 U.S. dollars.

Using a pair of wireless antennas Swiss managed to steal the signal that emits a smart card and using the other antenna successfully nadmudrile security system to the car and fire engine. Scientists have even managed to drive the car despite the fact that our original key at one point was not present in the vehicle.

If we bear in mind that the security system did not noticed the false signal, the scientists successfully nadmudrile alarm device for sound and light notification.

To achieve its goal the Swiss have used the two holes in existing software - which is not the first key is as follows away from the vehicle at any time, and second, which, after starting the engine checks the presence of the key in the vehicle because of the possibility of intelligent life key bin, which would cause the extinguishing of the engine.

Swiss results from the study will be presented at the end of the month forum for computer security forum in San Diego.

iPhone 5 - What can we expect?

Apple нас не навикна на изненадувања кај ергономијата и функционалноста на своите гаџети и додека iPhone 4 бележи неверојатни резултати, во полна подготовка е верзијата iPhone 5.

Apple us used to the surprises of ergonomics and functionality of their gadgets while iPhone 4 has amazing results, preparation is in full iPhone version 5th Sources from China, where much good produce parts for the iPhone, claiming that the new version of "smart" phone from Apple can we expect in the second quarter of 2011.

Rumors say that Apple iPhone in 5 will incorporate the new processor. In fact, competition is working on dual core processors or better CPU, you probably will lead to integration of new processor in the iPhone fifth Until now the information available iPhone 5 will use ARM A8 processor, most probably a dual-core, although the characteristics of the processor is not yet known.

And while competitors based operating system Android drew several models of smart phones and tablet computers and have enough time to upgrade, Apple comes out this year with only 5 and iPhone iPad second

The plan of the Apple team is those two products to impress potential buyers and re nadigraat competition. Design and other details remain strictly guarded secret. We are left to wait until June or July, when the new flagship Apple should be presented to the public.

New Contact Lenses With LED Displays is Must-See TV, Literally

ExtremeTech is the Web's top destination for news and analysis of emerging science and technology trends, and important software, hardware, and gadgets.

                  January 14, 2011
We recently profiled a new crop of Augmented Reality video games designed for your mobile phone. How adorably 2010. The whole concept of mobile AR is already behind the curve, the real future will be in Augmented Vision—a virtual layer on reality, no smart phone necessary. And "AV" may have just taken one giant step closer to feasibility. A research team at the University of Washington has designed a contact lens that has the ability to project LED displays directly into the irises.

The concept originated in 2008 when the UoW team developed a proof-of-concept contact lens embedded with electronics that gave diabetes patients the ability to monitor glucose levels in their tear fluid. The prototype contained a single red LED that would project feedback to the lens bearer. The team has since crafted blue miniature LEDs, leaving only green to be developed for a full-color display. The lenses are powered remotely by nearby "loop antennas," which transmit electricity directly to the lens.

Lead researcher Babak Parvis comments "You won't necessarily have to shift your focus to see the image generated by the contact lens," it would just appear in front of you and your view of the real world will be completely unobstructed when the display is turned off.

A Swiss company, Sensimed has created a contact lens with embedded electronics for glaucoma patients that allows doctors to accurately and continuously monitor fluctuations in intraocular pressure (pictured above; not yet approved for the US). Like the UoW team's device, Sensimed's lens is fitted with a ring of electronics around the periphery, which gives the user a very cyborgy appearance (and, at this point, with TVs pasted on our eyeballs, I suppose the term "cyborg" may be fitting).

As for what can be done with this technology, the possibilities are nearly limitless. Anything that we are preparing for with Augmented Reality could be done while leaving your hands free.

Of course, on the more nefarious side, we would have to maintain strict control over when the eyeball TV is turned on and what it would show. Since the display sits underneath your eyelids, you would never be able to escape it. Popup ads could invade your dreams; spam could follow you to work. Like that scene in A Clockwork Orange, except it would never end.

Tatooine's twin suns - coming to a planet near you just as soon as Betelgeuse explodes

                    January 21, 2011 8:37AM
IT'S the ultimate experience for Star Wars fans - staring forlornly off into the distance as twin suns sink into the horizon.

Yet it's not just a figment of George Lucas' imagination - twin suns are real. And here's the big news - they could be coming to Earth.

Yes, any day now we see a second sun light up the sky, if only for a matter of weeks.

The infamous red super-giant star in Orion’s nebula - Betelgeuse - is predicted to go gangbusters and the impending super-nova may reach Earth before 2012, and when it does, all of our wildest Star Wars dreams will come true.

The second biggest star in the Orion constellation is losing mass, a typical indication that a gravitation collapse is occurring.

When that happens, we'll get our second sun, according to Dr Brad Carter, Senior Lecturer of Physics at the University of Southern Queensland.

“This old star is running out of fuel in its centre”, Dr Carter said.

“This fuel keeps Betelgeuse shining and supported. When this fuel runs out the star will literally collapse in upon itself and it will do so very quickly.”

When this happens a giant explosion will occur, tens of millions of times brighter than the sun.

The bad news is, it could also happen in a million years. But who's counting?

The important thing is, one day, night will become day for several weeks on Earth.

“This is the final hurrah for the star,” says Dr Carter.

“It goes bang, it explodes, it lights up - we’ll have incredible brightness for a brief period of time for a couple of weeks and then over the coming months it begins to fade and then eventually it will be very hard to see at all.”

The interwebs is being flooded with doomsday theories saying the impending supernova confirms the Mayan calendar’s prediction of the Armageddon in 2012.

These conspiracies aren’t helped by the word “Betelgeuse” being associated with the devil.

Though it is a derivation of the Arabic phrase “yad Al Jauza” meaning the “hand of Al-Jauza” referring to a mysterious woman that controls the order of the universe, it hasn’t stopped some people from clearing out their bunkers and stocking up on tinned food.

Far from being a sign of the apocalypse, according to Dr Carter the supernova will provide Earth with elements necessary for survival and continuity.

“When a star goes bang, the first we will observe of it is a rain of tiny particles called nuetrinos,” says Dr Carter.

“They will flood through the Earth and bizarrely enough, even though the supernova we see visually will light up the night sky, 99 per cent of the energy in the supernova is released in these particles that will come through our bodies and through the Earth with absolutely no harm whatsoever.”

Stars such as the supernova produce elements that are critical to life on Earth.

Quite literally, the whole of Earth and our solar system is made of star stuff, including most of the heavy elements of the Periodic Table.

“It literally makes things like gold, silver - all the heavy elements - even things like uranium….a star like Betelgeuse is instantly forming for us all sorts of heavy elements and atoms that our own Earth and our own bodies have from long past supernovi,” Dr Carter said.

Some experts have speculated Betelgeuse’s explosion may cause a neutron star or result in the formation of a black hole approximately 1300 light years from Earth, but Dr Carter says it could go either way.

“There’s a reasonably even chance of a neutron star or a black hole”, he says.

“If it were me, I’d suspect it would more likely become a black hole at 20 solar masses.”

Betelgeuse 'not likely to explode in 2012'

                      January 22, 2011 10:33AM
THE super-giant red star Betelgeuse in the constellation of Orion is destined to explode, but maybe not next year as some recent news reports have suggested and will not be as bright as some predicted.

FoxNews.com reported Betelgeuse has already become a red giant, which indicates it will explode and become a supernova.

But experts say it is not likely to happen soon and it will happen far enough away that it will not hurt Earth.

US astronomer Phil Plait noted on his blog that a supernova would have to be no farther than 25 light years away to "fry us with light or anything else and Betelgeuse is 25 times that distance".

The story at www.news.com.au predicted that a giant explosion will occur, tens of millions of times brighter than the sun, and suggested the event could happen before 2012.

                      Technology - Product Finder

The story quoted a physics lecturer at the University of Southern Queensland, Brad Carter, who predicted that when Betelgeuse blows, night time will turn to day for several weeks on Earth.

“This is the final hurrah for the star,” Dr Carter told www.news.com.au.

“It goes bang, it explodes, it lights up - we’ll have incredible brightness for a brief period of time for a couple of weeks and then over the coming months it begins to fade and then eventually it will be very hard to see at all.”

That story is helping fuel internet rumors and doomsday theories by confounding the impending supernova with the Mayan calendar's conclusion in 2012 - which some believe is a prediction of the end of the world.

But there's no reason to think Betelgeuse will blow in 2012, Mr Plait explained, or even this millennium.

"It's hard to know just when a star will explode when you're on the outside," he said.

"Betelgeuse might go up tonight, or it might not be for 100,000 years. We're just not sure."

Dr Carter followed up his comments today, saying he knew of no scientific basis to suggest the star would go supernova in time to satisfy doomsday followers' predictions.

He instead pointed to a New Scientist article that quoted Nobel prize winner Charles Townes as saying there was no way of knowing how red giants behave at the end of their life cycle.

He said that while it will shine with "incredible brightness" it would be more like a full moon, rather than Tatooine's second sun.

"Killer" of the iPad arrives in March?

И HTC се вклучува во борбата за удел на брзо растечкиот пазар за таблет компјутери: Flyer наводно пристигнува во март.

And HTC is involved in the fight for a share of the rapidly growing market for Tablet PCs: Flyer reportedly arrives in March.

Already some time flake that the market will appear HTC tablets killer iPad.

Even though the Taiwanese company has no official announcement about the new device, officials stress that the new HTC model with their signature will work on Android 3.2, version for which Google says is optimized for tablet PCs and tablet HTC expected to have a 3G connection.

Until five years ago for HTC nobody knew, and then the light of day saw the first mobile phone operating system Android. Since then, smart phones have flooded the U.S. market, and HTC recently introduced the first 4G phone models.

Although the company long refused to engage in the production of tablet PCs, is now certain that the first tablet HTC will appear on the market, so the competition is serious cause for concern, says TG Daily.

A Laptop that can be Rolled-Up, Other Flexible Bendable Displays

ExtremeTech is the Web's top destination for news and analysis of emerging science and technology trends, and important software, hardware, and gadgets.

Mobile technology is getting too powerful for its britches. The pocket-sized devices of today have surpassed the desktop units of only a few years ago. Unfortunately, with all this portable computing power at hand, we are still only able to interact with our mobile computers via relatively small, static interfaces.

Remember processing video on your desktop in the late 1990s? Well, now the smartphone in your pocket has sprinted ahead in terms of speed and resolution, but only has a 4-inch screen to showcase it all.

So much computing fury with so little to show for it.

Some manufacturers are working on ways to project your portable device's screen, but this is not an ideal solution: You are at the whim of the physical environment around you—it would be difficult to use when your surrounded by trees and grass, for example; the clarity of the image will suffer via the process of projection; and your "screen" is subject to the lookieloos of the world.

The best solution would be to have a physical screen that could be readily manipulated into different dimensions for different situations. And it seems that technology is on the precipice of making this solution a reality.

The team at German design firm Orkin has developed a conceptual solution with their ROLLTOP computer. The computer utilizes a flexible OLED display, so it is able to physically "roll-up."

                          YouTube - Future Designer laptop - ROLLTOP //Diploma Thesis//

he ROLLTOP can fold part-way to create a classic laptop shape with a 13-inch display and touchscreen keyboard. Or it can be fully flattened out to create a 17-inch display (or perhaps, tablet computer).

Orkin's site is less than forthcoming on what innards the ROLLTOP would allow—the computer seems to bend at defined points, meaning the motherboard and other electro-organs remain in static containers inside the machine. It would still necessitate an external speaker/power source to connect to the display. No word on battery life.

The tech here is promising, but raw. Is the knapsack shown in the animation really less of a hassle to carry than a 13-inch laptop?

Nearly all the major manufacturers (and several smaller players) are working on developing computers and displays in Fruit Roll-Up form. For those looking for tangible (non-animated) example of bendy displays, Sony had their flexible full-color display shown here:

YouTube - Sony Flexible OLED display

The development of Gumbyesque displays was, until recently, largely being propelled by companies seeking their piece of the e-reader explosion. The last few years saw several manufacturers unveil prototypes for anorexic readers that would more closely mimic the feel of paper. However, this dream of a paper-thin reader was ultimately, rejected by consumers. Not enough people harbored a nostalgia for the reading experience provided by the large, unwieldy newspapers of yore. For daily mass transit riders, a small solid display a la the Kindle or Nook is far more practical than a mess of dead trees.

The push into foldable readers seems to have taken a break as Kindle and company settle into the lead in the category. However, this research and knowledge could be integrated into the flexible, foldable pocket tech of the future.

Last year, LG unveiled thin (.3 mm) monochromatic screen that they have been able to develop into an intimidating 19-inch display size. The screen only uses power when refreshing, so it also boasts a long battery life. The company had plans to start mass production on an 11.5 inch e-reader last year, but as for now, it seemed to have failed to take flight.

In 2009, Arizona State University's Flexible Display Center unveiled a flexible, ultra-thin touch screen. They are currently working with HP on developing a pliable color display. Here is video of an early monochromatic version:

It's feasible that before the end of the next presidential term everybody will carry a pliable 20-inch display in their pocket. Forget this new rush to the tablet market, in the future; technology will more likely resemble a handkerchief (try very hard not to confuse the two).

The latest stable version of Pardus Linux has been released 10 days ago. It`s called as "Pardus 2011" and it has been developed by "The scientific and technological research council of Turkey (TUBITAK)". I`ve installed on my laptop and it works great.

                            I`d like to let you know cuz i just saw that one of my friend shared a review of it from an Australian web site. It seems they`ve liked it a lot;

                            This review is for the release candidate version, but we have final stable release now;

Thanks Onur for your contribution. Following Franks lead I think the experiences we have with software can help short list for others what software to get and vice versa. Judging by the reviews Pardus Linux is definitely one to put on that short list.

I have the HTC Desire with Android and to be honest it kind of disapponted me. Its a lot more "buggy" than the iphone and I already had it sent in twice for repair. Had the board on it changed once after it kept rebooting on me. Its a lot cheaper than the Iphone with a better camera and no bluetooth restraints but thats about it. Unless I got a lemon, the Iphone is alot more stable. Im not an Apply fanboy btw, They have become just as evil now as Microsoft was a decade ago.

Since I hate conglomerate companies, I also became an Ubuntu Linux desktop user, only problem with that was it does not have a webcam functioning for Yahoo Messenger or Skype apps which basically forced me to switch to Winblow$ again, unless somebody figured that part out recently.
