SYRIZA important question of discrimination against Macedonians political refugees
The Greek team on the Rights of Minorities (MRG) and the Greek Centre Helsinki Monitor (GHM) highlight today's extremely important question of SYRIZA members to demand the government to stop the discriminatory legislative treatment at the expense of "non-Greeks in genus (ie Macedonians) political refugees allowing the free repatriation, the return on their citizenship removed and, by implication, their assets or similar damages, as was the "Greeks by genus" political refugees. MRG and GHM are only general Greek NGOs have consistently worked on this issue thus contributing, inter alia, the question referring to the recommendation of the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance of the Council of Europe (http://www.coe.int / t/dghl/monitoring/ecri/Country-by-country/Greece/GRC-CbC-IV-2009-031-GRC.pdf).
QUESTION
To Mr. Ministers
Internal Affairs
Foreign Affairs
Subject: Refugees of the civil war
After the law 1285/1982 "for the recognition of the Resistance of the Greek people against the occupying forces 1941 - 1944," Interior Minister George Gennimatas and Public Order Minister Ioannis Skoularikis government of PASOK issued a joint decision (106841/29-12-1982) on "Free repatriation and restoration of Greek Citizenship to political refugees ..." under the policy of the government on national reconciliation and unity "and decided that" to return to Greece all Greeks by genus, who during the Civil War 1946-1949 and due to that fled abroad as political refugees, even if deprived of Greek citizenship.
This distinction, which excluded all non-called "Greeks by genus" Greek citizens is clearly unacceptable discrimination, ethnic discrimination and has not been abolished yet, despite the repeated commitments of PASOK and recommendations to Greece for European and international organizations.
Features mention that the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance of the Council of Europe in its report on Greece in 2009 "recommends again that the Greek authorities to take steps to implement non-discriminatory manner, the measures taken to reconcile all those who fled the civil war. "
Because it can not be extended so far Civil War syndromes against Greek citizens, political refugees of the civil war who live in other countries because of different state from the Greek ethnic origin
Asked the k.k.Ypourgoi:
1) More than sixty years after the end of the civil war and twenty-five after the return of most political refugees in Greece, what purpose it serves to prohibit the return of the remaining political refugees?
2) Recognize that this is still an open wound of a civil position on human rights in Greece?
3) When planning to remove the above laws the biased, racist and sectarian discrimination "Greeks by genus"?
