![]() Thank you SoM. I'm sure everyone had a safe New Year night and didn't drink too much :P
I for one cannot say this as I stumbled out of the Marakana Kafana at 5:30am and plodded across the park covered with snow back to my apartment steps (just couldn't make it into my door). ~_~ Here is to a prosperous and hapy new year to all of us and Macedonia! Four of the five permanent UN Security Council members: United States of America (NATO and G8 member ): The federal government uses "Republic of Macedonia", while the US Congress uses the mixed designation "Republic of Macedonia (FYROM)". United Kingdom (EU, NATO and G8 member) People's Republic of China Russia (G8 member) Bosnia-Herzegovina Croatia Montenegro Serbia Slovenia (EU and NATO member) In addition, the following countries have also recognised the nation by its constitutional name: Algeria Argentina Austria (EU member) Azerbaijan Belarus Bolivia Botswana Brunei Darussalam Bulgaria (EU and NATO member) Cambodia Canada (NATO and G8 member) Chile Costa Rica Cuba Czech Republic (EU and NATO member) Ecuador El Salvador Estonia (EU and NATO member) Honduras Hungary (EU and NATO member) Iceland (NATO member) India Iran Ireland (EU member) Kazakhstan Kosovo Kuwait Kyrgyzstan Laos Liechtenstein Lithuania (EU and NATO member) Malaysia Maldives Moldova Mongolia Morocco Myanmar (Burma) Nauru Nepal Nigeria Norway (NATO member) Oman Paraguay Poland (EU and NATO member) Qatar Romania (EU and NATO member) Saint Kitts and Nevis Saint Lucia Saudi Arabia Singapore Slovakia (EU and NATO member) Sovereign Military Order of Malta Sri Lanka Sweden (EU member) Switzerland Thailand Turkey (NATO member) Ukraine Uzbekistan Vietnam http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macedon...#cite_note-128 Ok, so that is about half of the countries that recognise us by our rightful name. I have some friends who work in the government and I will ask them if they can provide me a list with the rest of the countries. |

![]() Thanks Six Guns, if you could make some inquiries to increase the list then that would be excellent.
Sounds like you had a good time for new years, убо се испијанче изгледа ![]()

![]() I say that Republic of Macedonia should continue to insist on it's constitutional name in front of the international society. If the word "East Albania" appears in the name of Republic of Macedonia, this means, all the lands from Skopje to Debar and Struga to become part of Albania. And I don't want the hometown of my grandmother to become part of Shipteria! And this would be traitory to the people, the Macedonians and the memory of the heroes that stood for the liberation of these lands from Ottoman Rule.
The only possible compromise, that won't hurt nobody would be Republik Vardar Macedonia, because it's geographically correct. Also as I recall the name of Vardar river is included in many Macedonian songs. "More sokol pie voda na Vardaro." |

![]() NiGhtPiSH, why do I get the sense that you're a Greek?
You realise for 'Vardar' to be entirely accurate, the Republic of Macedonia would also need to control the entire river sub-basin. Here's a map for you. Look closely: ![]() Excuse the 'FYR' on the image, it was taken from: http://www.inweb.gr/workshops/sub_ba...5Cimage002.jpg |

Thats the Wikepedia article i was telling you guys about, it is incorrect. No western europen country recognizes macedonia as ROM. Do you honestly think the UK, with its greek prince and pro greek attitude would recognize macedonia? If the UK did recognize macedonia then you would have australia have recognize macedonia in a heart beat. The UK and Austria use ROM when dealing with us, but technically we are still "FYROM" with them. And as others have stated Sweeden and Norway have not recognized macedonia as ROM and still use "FYROM". |

![]() Big Bad Sven,
The UK does recognise Macedonia under the Constitutional name for all Bilateral purposes as have other EU nations. |
