            Italian newspaper: Macedonia's success story

It takes four hours for a foreign or domestic investor to register a company, the tax rate is 10%, among the lowest in Europe. If you add Macedonia's educated workforce in the mix, it is no surprise that the country is becoming a hotbed for direct foreign investments - says Italian newspaper Libero in its editorial on Macedonia, calling the country the "Balkan's pearl".

Libero, to its Italian readers explains that if a company invests in an infrastructure and hires over 100 full time staff, the company is not obligated to pay utilities and has a tax reprieve upward to 500,000 euros.

"The clever plan to attract and keep foreign companies is devised perfectly by the Macedonian Government, in fact, Italian company Condotte has already announced a 15m euro investment" says Libero adding the country was ranked #22 out of 183 countries by "Doing Business Report 2012". In 2011 it was 34th.

-Interesting to note is the leap the country has made in only few years in the tourist sector. Low budget airlines continue to sign up and add fligts from and to Skopje and Ohrid. In 2012, the country registered 2 million night stays, which for the size of the country is very good - adds Libero.

-Their newly built airport has increased the capacity at least five fold, which means there will be larger flow of money, which means Macedonia can enter in direct competition with our(Italy's) neighbor, Austria.

Libero doesn't fail to mention the bizarre name dispute Greece has with Macedonia.
The Macedonians originates it, the Bulgarians imitate it and the Greeks exploit it!

With friends like this who needs enemies

Philip Reeker, wolf in sheep's clothing PDF Print E-mail
              Monday, 24 June 2013

I am not aware where is currently Philip Reeker, last time he was touring local bars, today he could be in his comfy chair at the State Department, drafting plans how to rule the world.

Reeker, arrived in Macedonia for a chit chat with NATO's Adriatic group, which we are a member of. Then, just out of boredom, I suppose, Reeker introduced a sub-idea, more like the real reason why he visited. Namely, Reeker called on the Macedonian Government to kick start a democratic debate to solve the problem with the name. This was done subtly, as if in passing. Just by coincidence Reeker 'advised' us to take a look at the latest proposal from Nimetz... Upper Republic of Macedonia?

First of, Philip Reeker, WE, the Macedonians do not have a problem with our Name. This is a problem for the fascists in Greece who are determined to wipe out the name and identity of our people and remove it from the world map. This effort by Athens is fully supporterd by you Mr. Reeker, the US, and the EU.

This is utterly shameful for you as a person, your contry and the fascists to the south, because you're missing the basic principle for justice and truth, values that you seem so proud of, yet you and your country don't have.

What type of friendship do you offer if you recognize our Name (clever - because then you collaborated with Macedonia's quinsligs to introduce the new territorial law in 2004) and now are pushing to change our name. What do we do with 130 countries who recognized our Name? Do we tell them to wait until Greece and yourself decide on a different name? What do you think, Mr. Reeker, we are that unintelligent and people without self-respect? Is that your diplomatic conclusion after staying in Macedonia?

You are terribly mistaken if that's your opinion, and stop your cowardly suggestions for "debates". Once again, WE do not have a problem with our name.

If you absolutely require a debate, I will offer you several. Lets debate Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Guantanamo, lets debate the Native Indians in the US and the genocide there.
Should you require a Macedonian theme, lets debate 2001 and the fact that your current ambassador stated the conflict was an agenda born in the US. In 2001, your human rights fighters used knifes to write their names on the backs of Macedonian civilians. Was this part of the agenda as well?

Lets debate the Ohrid Framework agreement, which was written prior to 2001. Lets debate the terrirotial redistricting which, once again had disastrous consequences for the Macedonians. Lets debate the Macedonian census, which Albanians refused to do at all cost out of fear their true percentage will be revealed. Maybe this is also Your agenda.

Do you Mr. Reeker, just like Greece's senile president belive that the end of the Macedonians and their name is near? Do you believe that NATO and EU are enough for us to commit suicide?

Neither the Macedonians, nor the Government is allowed to touch our historic name. You should understand this, for once. No one will touch our name. Unless you sent your imperial bombers, drones which apparently do very good job in spreading democracy world wide. Or perhaps via a new Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Give up on your futile attempts to rename us, it will never work.

As for you taking picture and hugging Macedonian handball players while stumping on the very Macedonian in them, I will leave that up to you conscious. //Gorazd Velkovski
On Delchev's sarcophagus you can read the following inscription: "We swear the future generations to bury these sacred bones in the capital of Independent Macedonia. August 1923 Illinden"

what a puppet for the greeks.Does he know how the greeks came into possession by military occupation of the aegean area.It never befoe set foot in the area.So much for its liberation from what? The landsgrab that went on & the genocide agains't the macedonian people. What a joke you are for not knowing the real history only being led by the nozejust like a bull with aring on their noze. You are no better. If you only knew your history.Taking over a country called macedonia & its people were macedonians.Where are the so calledgreek macedonians a greek propaganda to cover up the fact that the greeks were never macedonian. The propaganda has actually backfired on them when one considers the attrocities that were committed.Ever since they forced the partition of macedonia the greeks have been denying macedonian existence.rior to partition there was only 10 percent of the population were greek.Up until 1988 they never called the place as macedonia.THey renamed the place the province of macedonia & now it says it has a problem with the name.Of course the real problem is that it stole the macedonian lands 51 percent.

Samaras with finger pointing at Brussels

U.S. commitments and aggressively imposed on Macedonia agree with Athens fell into the water. Samaras is absolutely right that after Bucharest 2008 blockade of Macedonia's EU integration sets Brussels. It does not diminish the responsibility of Athens, as a part of that consensus to block Macedonia again violated the Interim Accord, which opens the possibility for re-trial before the court in The Hague said the ambassador to "Vecer" Nikovski.

The answer to Samaras's letter of Macedonian Prime Minister shows that the initiative of the Prime Minister was at the right time. Moving the ball at Brussels, under the direction of Washington is extremely significant in favor of Macedonia. Samaras actually told us that the policy that we impose Washington and Brussels is wrong and that the key to the problem is not in Athens, but, above all, to them, says Ambassador Nikovski, commenting on the contents of the letter sent to the Greek Prime Minister the Prime Minister in which Samaras again refused to meet with his Macedonian counterpart.
                        - This U.S. commitments and aggressively imposed on Macedonia agree with Athens fell into the water. Samaras is absolutely right that after Bucharest 2008 blockade of Macedonia's EU integration sets Brussels. It does not diminish the responsibility of Athens, as a part of that consensus to block Macedonia again violated the Interim Accord, which opens the possibility for re-trial before the court in The Hague. Samaras open our eyes and took the key to the solution of the problem in Washington, with some assistance from Brussels, not in Athens. It should be our benchmark in all subsequent activities of this plan, ambassador told EVENING Nikovski.

The Foreign Ministry confirmed that Samaras has shown mood for dialogue, and the Macedonian side is fully geared to overcome all possible objections, including the artificially imposed dispute.
                        - That's why we took the initiative for dialogue at the highest level and desire to solve problems. It means complete dedication and desire for integration of the region. Samaras in this way confirms that it desires. Prefers not to focus on the need for progress and positive move in the process. We need you now more commitment and relationship that brings our countries and region integrated in a unified Europe. In this direction will further strengthen our efforts, the Foreign Ministry said Thursday.

SDSM, through press release expressed the view that the letter of the Minister Samaras indicates nekonstruktivnosta Greece's dispute with Macedonia. Social urged authorities to meet briefed all political parties in the country during the negotiations name.
                        - For neprincipielnosta of Greece and abuse of position of the EU and NATO, contrary to the standards and principles of the EU and NATO, it is necessary to be aware of the international community involved in trying to find a solution, according to a statement from the SDSM.

EU urges the leadership contacts between Skopje and Athens
Ambassadors of Member States in Skopje who EVENING requested comment on the transfer of guilt by the Union Samaras, refused to state their position before seeing a letter from the Greek prime minister.

The European Commission reached the familiar message that is necessary mutually acceptable solution on the name issue, under the auspices of the United Nations. Maja Kocijanchich spokeswoman High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy, Catherine Ashton, commenting on the negative response to Samaras yesterday's press conference that bilateral contacts and their reported an increase between political leaders of the Republic of Macedonia and Greece are good for finding solution the name issue, reports Reuters. Kocijanchich stressed that the position of the European Commission is known that it is repeated many times, "citing four consecutive recommendations to start negotiations with the union of the country.
                        - There was hope that the latest initiative by UN mediator for formal negotiations with the new time would bring a breakthrough in this regard. In this context, the European Commission welcomed the reports of recent bilateral contacts between FYR Macedonia and Greece, says Kocijanchich.

Croatian MEP Andrew Plenkovikj, speaking to Reuters said that Greece, not the EU, is the reason that Macedonia's accession negotiations started, and the problem is not just the name of the country, but the Macedonian identity.

Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras negative response to the Prime Minister to direct meetings at the highest level, to intensify talks on the name issue between the two countries. Twenty days after the Minister wrote to Samaras, Greek Prime Minister doors that did not require meetings since Greece was that the block European integration, the blame for blocking the country shifts to the EC account.
Shifting the blame for every problem in Athens back the EU has become a habit of the Greek prime minister. Once Samaras accused Brussels of economic reforms, clearing the debts of Greece, now as much wants to get rid of and responsibility for solving the problem that Athens has the constitutional name of Macedonia, and it just confirms Greek policy block Macedonia, because rejection of all initiatives and extension activities ambassadorial level that two decades have not yielded result does not suggest anything else.

Samaras in response stated that his country has done enough and believes that the Macedonian authorities to move, but gives no idea how dialogue and meetings can lead to moving process. It seems to Athens and meets current situation status quo in the matter when it allows you comfort refusal initiatives at a time when all European and American diplomats suggest that dialogue is necessary, especially now that the table has a concrete proposal from the mediator the dispute Matthew Nimetz.

Now comes the time for the govt to grow some serious balls and say good bye NATO good bye eu and go back to the United Nations as the republic
                          Of macedonia. The Greeks although
Still have a vast investment couldn't possibly do the same damage as the trade embargo in 1995. Tear the interim
Accord up and show them that Macedonians mean business. On top of that it would show the Albanians that we are not afraid!!!!

"The greek prime minister again refused dialogue - there was nothing to discuss about because greece does not block R. of Macedonia"

Surely the Eurocrats, Americans, Nimetz etc would see the gReeks for what they really are. Expecially in the face of this statement.

To everyone concerned the name dispute is just a game at Macedonia's expense.

O'Neal: greece avoids talks, the eu and nato to find a way of unblocking Macedonia

It is time the international community and, above all, the governments of the member states of NATO and the EU to seriously resort to the name issue than they did in the last 20 years and decide to open negotiations on Macedonia. After the final response of the Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras of the draft proposal of the Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski is clear that the Greek government wants to negotiate a solution to the issue, says Robin O'Neal in an interview with the "Voice of the People" Sonce TV.

                                - The time has come for NATO and the EU to find a way to accept Macedonia under its cap without delay, and to agree to open negotiations. Greece's prime minister tried to shift the blame for the delay of the EU, not Greece. But the statement of the European Commission it was rejected, with the conclusion that a report on Macedonia's readiness to start negotiations from a technical aspect to be announced in October. I hope that the Government of Macedonia has to solve technical issues with the EU institutions and some other issues that members have raised, said O'Neal, who was first negotiated in Greece-Macedonia name talks.

He underlined that it is a fact that there is no "dispute" between Greece and Macedonia, but it is a situation where there is a requirement of Greece Macedonia to use the name that its residents have chosen.

                                - According to international law, every state has the right to choose a name for itself. Now it is difficult to understand why the governments of the EU Member States and allow Greece to even maintain position on this issue. However, in the interest of good neighborly relations, Macedonian governments were constantly looking for a solution and an agreement with Greece for an alternative name for the country for which the two governments would agree, says former British diplomat.

According to him, any attempt to Macedonia to make progress on this issue was blocked by Greece, now is the time for all other governments to recognize it and draw conclusions. The issue remained unresolved for over 20 years and can not tolerate the attitude of the Greek issue and has refused to discuss and decide. But he says, Greece does. It also points out, can not tolerate the fact that the members of NATO and the EU continue to allow Greece to veto Macedonia's name, especially since the past 20 years the use of the name Macedonia in international law on any basis not hurt Greece, says O'Neal.

                                - Time for governments of the member states of NATO and the EU to recognize that there is no genuine dispute just complaint by Greece to Macedonia using its name chosen for domestic political reasons, and that Greece's position is completely without cover. Macedonian Government should also take the view that it is a legitimate issue in the UN. In 1993 the adoption of the recommendation for admission of Macedonia Security Council determined that "differences occurred (not called the dispute) the name of the state (ie Macedonia) to be resolved in the interest of maintaining a peaceful and good neighborly relations region, says O'Neal.

If there was such a question, he said that it is already resolved. Greece and Macedonia have agreed formally that neither side has teritorijani claims, the border between the two countries had no disputes in the last 20 years and the use of the constitutional name of Macedonia by no means lead to destabilization of the northern Greek province of the same name.

Given that Greece has consistently refused to cooperate with Nimetz's efforts to bridge the gap between the two countries, he said while Macedonia is to initiate a request for admission to the United Nations under its constitutional name.

                                - I think the time has come Macedonian government to address the UN General Assembly and seek a solution by extending the accession of the Republic of Macedonia under its constitutional name, saying conditions ruled in 1993 over Macedonia's name is never given its legal legitimacy and that after more than 20 years of interference by one to solve the so-called dispute is based on erroneous application over time proved to be unfounded (the use of the name Macedonia has not destabilized the region) and that the time has come to resolve the issue). The question whether Macedonia may itself be called Macedonia was never a problem. Time to get rid of the fiction that here we have a legitimate dispute. And when you make the international community will accept that Macedonia's just that the supposed difficulties in the past 20 years will disappear like you never existed, says O'Neal.

Macedonia, according to him, is supported by the official London and added that support for Britain in the country is very extensive. As an example outlining Masonic Lodge in 1717, which is the oldest in the world dedicated to supporting the constitutional name of Macedonia.
