Keep in mind, Sweden are one of the favourites to take the title.

Did anyone watch the game? something sounds suspect, according to the report by the official EHF web site below, Macedonia broke away with huge leads on many occasions only for the favourites to claw back.

      A draw on the rollercoaster

      Group B: Sweden 26:26 (14:13) FYR Macedonia
      Sportski Centar Cair, Niš
      15 January 2012

A nail-biting thriller full of tension until the very last second – and a deserved draw after a real rollercoaster ride between Sweden and FYR Macedonia. Both teams gave all they had – and the Macedonians celebrated the draw like a victory.

Swedish national team coach Ola Lindgren has good memories of the Sportski Centar Cair in Niš. His international career started there with a European Cup match, and he scored his last ever goal as a player in a preparation match with his German club Nordhorn, when he was already their coach.

On Sunday evening he added another memory with a hard-earned 26:26 (14:13) draw of his Swedish team in their starting match of the EHF EURO 2012 against FYR Macedonia.

Supported by a huge, impressive and loud “wall of red and yellow” on the stands, the Balkan team had the better start and could early achieve a lead of four goals (4:8) thanks to their bigger efficiency in attack and the four goals of Stevche Alushovski.

But from the middle of the first half on, the Swedes had found their pace and goalkeeper Johan Sjöstrand made seven very important saves. The arena, stuffed with 4.500 spectators, calmed down a little, but still shouted for every goal of FYR Macedonia.

After the 7:10, Sweden scored four straight goals and took the lead for the first time at 11:10 in minute 25 and extended this gap to 14:12. But nothing was decided after 30 minutes.

The Balkan team really exploded after the break, pushed by some extra-ordinary saves of their goalkeeper Borko Ristovski – and the crowd made the arena to an infernal witch’s cauldron. In ten minutes the south Europeans scored an impressive 6:1 series, and even the players on the bench went crazy when Naumce Mojsovski scored twice to 19:15 in minute 40. Without Sjöstrand the gap would have been even huger.

And those saves gave additional power and new hopes for the Swedes. As FYR Macedonia was stopped by their tough defence, the Scandinavian team turned the rollercoaster, equalized, took the lead after a 7:2 series at 22:21 and then forced Macedonia to take their time-out at the 25:22 in minute 52.

A successful measure – as the up and down continued with four consecutive Macedonian goals to 26:25 –then Balkan players were fighting like lions. Two minutes still to play. Sweden equalize. FYR Macedonia in attack, but their last chance – a direct free throw of Mojsovski - missed the goal.

Yeah I watched it, it seemed we got pumped up at the start of eachhalf only for Sweden to bounce back, they had more class but we played with heart especially to come back level when we looked to be down and out.

If Sweden had more class, then each time they bounced back, Sweden should have skipped away. What i was told, was that each time Macedonia skipped away to a healthy break, a Macedonian player would get sent off (unfairly) by the French referees in order for Sweden to claw their way back. I did not watch it, so i don't know how true this is.

While all the hype with the Handball going on, a water polo match between Macedonia vs Greece is flying under the radar. Its due today 11am (Macedonia time).

You can watch it live if you have access to MKTV channel.
Another option would have been a Greek TV channel, but this happened,

Greek State TV Cancels Broadcast of Waterpolo match vs Macedonia

The European Championship in waterpolo is under way and Macedonia had started with an impressive win against Turkey 16-4.

The next match is against Greece, and MINA finds Greek State TV has cancelled an already scheduled broadcast between Macedonia and Greece.

MINA finds the decision to cancel the broadcast was unilateral, while the pressure came from Greek politicians who were afraid Macedonia will defeat Greece and such thing will not be good for Greece's psyche.

If Greece is too afraid to broadcast a sport event, why even send a team to compete?
If thats the reason why its cancelled......Bloody Cowards!.

On Delchev's sarcophagus you can read the following inscription: "We swear the future generations to bury these sacred bones in the capital of Independent Macedonia. August 1923 Illinden"

Serbia prepared to mediate in Greece-Macedonia open issues, says president

Thessaloniki. Serbia is prepared to mediate in the settlement of open issues between Greece and Macedonia, said President Tomislav Nikolic in Thessaloniki on Saturday, Tanjug reports, Macedonian MIA news agency reported.
Summing up the visit to Greece and talks with the country's top officials, Nikolic told a press conference that if such initiative was launched, Belgrade could mediate between Athens and Skopje.
"You can imagine what it would look like if we all cooperated. This would be a supporting pillar of the Balkans, maybe of whole Europe", said Nikolic.
He assessed Serbia-Greece cooperation as excellent, without any open issues, adding that Greece unconditionally supported Serbia on the EU path.
"It is obvious that Serbia could be the bridge between the east and the west, the north and south. We have reconfirmed what Serbs and Greeks have always nurtured complete understanding and cooperation, relations which have not been disrupted by anything", stressed Nikolic.
During a recent visit to Macedonia, the Serbian President voiced readiness to mediate in settlement of problems between the Serbian and Macedonian Orthodox churches.

Good news every one, our friends the Serbs want to help end the name negotiations. Them being the balkan sweet hearts are looking for a "solution" that will please both greece and macedonia.

So lets make this interesting, what do you predict will be some of the "fair" suggestions from our serbian orthodox brothers?

To me it seems like the serbs are very sad about yugoslavia ceasing to exist, so i predict that they will offer the name "Yugoslav Macedonia". It would be pretty funny if they suggested "Vardaska Banovina" LOL

"Serbs and Greeks have always nurtured complete understanding"

Doesn´t the above pretty much say it all?
