Slovenia was the economic powerhouse of Yugoslavia. Doing ok as part of the EU wouldn't be a problem. But you can't polish a turd ... Hence Bulgaria, Romania, Greece etc.

Macedonia rightfully shouldn't be granted EU membership. Macedonia is a shit hole that is light years away from the core EU countries. I think they regret hastily accepting countries like Bulgaria and don't want to make those mistakes again.
Macedonia has no economy. A fucked up legal system and no independent judiciary. Corruption and crime is rampant. It can loosely be considered a democracy, certainly not a functioning one. There is no press freedom, or at least no independent press. The infrastructure is shit, the schools are shit. The populace is under-educated and under-qualified for most modern work. The baking system is one decline away from collapse.
If I were the EU, I would not grant Macedonia membership.

Lets say that places like Germany decide to offload some of their asylum seekers to another country, then a destination such as Macedonia could be a good option (for Germany)...all the krauts would have to do is dangle the EU-carrot to our corrupt and spineless politicians and all of a sudden the doors would open to tens of thousands of the displaced...
Already thousands of young Macedonians are queuing up for jobs at McDonalds in Germany (mostly the same people reluctant to work in similar and often better jobs in Macedonia)...this is happening in the entire western world, nobody willing to fill the lower paying jobs.
Macedonia can fill these gaps in EU countries...a form of slave labour in the 21st century from a very qualified servile people.
Friends of mine just got back from a trip to Macedonia and they were telling me about some factory (auto components) just outside Bitola that is bringing in workers from the Ukraine and has begun to close off parts of the factory because lazy Macedonians don't want to work there...

I think all this riff raff has to do with NATO and not EU. I think the EU accepting MKD in the EU is the price the west is willing to pay for aggressive NATO expansion.
Two things will happen with EU membership:
1) Expedite the departure of the best and brightest. How will Macedonia prosper with no doctors, teachers, labourers or innovators?
2) The shit that remains behind will die out naturally.
The west is going through a population decline, the only way to sustained their economies and pensions is by importing employable youth.

China is getting old also. They have about 20 years before they suffer the same fate. And they won't be letting anyone become citizens readily. It's why they're trying to hock up as many countries as possible right now.Risto the Great

Once Macedonia becomes a completely compliant American statelet (as of Oct 1 2018) the US and its western lackeys will focus their efforts on Serbia (and their dysfunctional relationship with Kosovo) using the Macedonian capitulation model as their blueprint.

Wasn't there previously a referendum in Macedonia regarding the introduction of Albanian authorities in heavy Ethnic Albanian populated areas (or something like that) where 97% voted against it but EU declared it a failure due to 47% cast a vote meaning not enough due to being under 50% turnout?
Just another case of hypocrisy we should remember.http://www.macedoniantruth.org/forum/showthread.php?p=120873#post120873

EU's treatment of Catalonia should be evidence enough for Macedonians that they are not what they say they are and that we will never be fully accepted into their little union.I know of two tragic histories in the world- that of Ireland, and that of Macedonia. Both of them have been deprived and tormented.
