In today's press conference of the Special Prosecution, 4 new investigations were revealed, 2 of which involve media editors of the known pro-government TV house - Sitel.
In the first case, codenamed "Total", the chief editor of Sitel, Dragan Pavlovic - Latas is suspected of tax evasion of around 180 000 euros.
Namely, Latas as the owner or manager of companies Total Marketing Agency LTD, Total Marketing LTD, Mediamax LTD and Total Media Center LTD has evaded taxes by failing to report personal incomes, reducing the basis for calculating the income tax, and abusing the VAT refund for personal gains during the fiscal years of 2008 through 2015. This way the legal subjects of these companies evaded taxes of around 120 000 euros, and he himself of around 63 000 euros.
The Special Prosecutors suspect that Latas used the legal subjects of his companies as a cover to purchase material goods for his own need, such as a 2341 eur-worth Swiss wristwatch, 2 Magic Touch mattresses worth 3060 eur, 4635 eur-worth of Persian rugs, 3780 eur-worth of kitchen items etc.
In the second case, codenamed "Tiffany", the mother of Latas' right hand man (or should I say woman), Sitel editor Ivona Talevska is suspected of tax evasion of around 55 000 euros.
Limba Talevska (Ivona's mother) is the owner or manager in companies Smart Centar LTD and Smart Group LTD, companies with 0 or just 1 employee, and the Special Prosecutors are suspecting that similar scheme as Latas was used here too, expensive items were bought as if they were for company use, while in fact they were used for personal use and tax was evaded during the process.
Lingerie, skirts, purses, shoes etc with worth 33 508 eur, sunglasses and makeup worth 1009 eur, dishes and decorative items worth 4672 eur etc, while at the same time there was no one in the companies that would use these things because they had 0 or just 1 listed employee.
Ivona Talevska through her mother had also concluded a multi-million contract with local hospitals a few years back, but the Minister of Helath had to cancel it when everything went public.
It is also worth to mention that Sitel representatives (along with the ones of Vecer and TV Nova, also pro-government media) left today's press conference as "an act of protest for SJO's pressure on media", probably referring to the indictment of TV Nova's owner, businessman Sead Kocan, who fled the country after the case was opened a couple of weeks ago and is still unreachable to the authorities.
