    He will be remembered as probably the most successful businessman of Macedonian roots in the diaspora, Forbes Magazine estimates that his net worth is $6.1 Billion. He also did a lot for the city of Detroit.

    I don't know what village his parents are from but I think they are from the Bitola region. His wife's family was from Bouf Lerinsko, in fact she had a grandmother still living in the village as recent as the late 1980s/ early 90s.

    I don't think Mike Ilitch was involved much in the Macedonian cause, his support to Macedonian organizations was minimal. He was the last of what I refer to as "the big 3" Macedonian businessmen/sport moguls of North America, the other 2 being the late John Bitove and Steve Stavro.

      Wow...We (3 friends and I) were talking about Mike on Thursday night over dinner (some pizza of all things) and a few drinks...we were trying to determine where his father was from...I'm thinking he comes from my neck of the woods but difficult to confirm.
