It looks like the Turks wont give up inviting international superstars to the Turkish Cyprus. This time Rihanna signed to perform in northern Cyprus for the opening of another hotel

I wonder if Greeks will manage to prevent this gig too but things will be more difficult for them since this hotel has partners like "Fashion tv" and "Bvlgari".

Rihanna to perform at TRNC hotel opening

Popular R&B star Rihanna will take to the stage at the inauguration of a seven-star luxury hotel in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (KKTC) next month, several Turkish daily newspapers reported on Thursday.

Yılmaz Bektaş, owner of the Fashion Castle Hotel to be opened on Sept. 7, will pay Rihanna $1 million, the Vatan daily said, noting that Rihanna was a friend of Bektaş’s spouse, 2006 Miss Universe Zuleyka Rivera Mendoza.

Silvano Bvlgari and Michel Adam -- founder of Fashion TV -- are also partners of the luxurious hotel, Vatan said, adding that Bektaş said the hotel would rival the Burj Al Arab Hotel in Dubai. Rihanna’s show will also help promote the KKTC, the daily said.

Last month, Jennifer Lopez cancelled a planned concert at the $220 million Cratos Premium Hotel and Casino in the KKTC, leading to anger both among Turks and Turkish Cypriots, although she apologized to disappointed fans. The Latino star was due to mark her 41st birthday with a gig at the hotel. But she pulled out of the show after angry Greek Cypriots launched a protest campaign, collecting tens of thousands of signatures on a Facebook page. Announcing the decision to cancel the appearance, a statement released by Lopez’s staff on the official website read that the singer “would never knowingly support any state, country, institution or regime that was associated with any form of human rights abuse.”

Lopez’s website had been flooded by messages from Turks expressing disappointment and anger at her decision to cancel the show and from Greeks praising her. The statement was later removed from Lopez’s website.

I wonder if J Lo's management will now falk out the $40 Million in damages?

These hotels are massive in Northern Cyprus, i guess you wouldnt invest in something if you didnt believe in it.

Onur, Do you believe that Turkey will continue to finance Northern Cyprus? Cyprus has the potential to become a holiday haven, like Monaco or Malta however there is too much politics invlolved.

Well, she has been rightfully sued and she can ask Greco-Armenian diaspora in USA to pay the possible 40 million dollars damage now. J-Lo took 3 million dollars to her pocket and then she didn't come without a proper reason.

As for the Cyprus, i think Turkey is finally fed up with trying to negotiate with former Eoka terrorists(now presidents of Greek Cyprus) for 20 years cuz it`s obvious that they will never accept to give the rights of Turkish people in the island who lived there for 500 years.

Several politicans in turkey, including PM and FM announced that Turkey have a deadline `till 2011 for the current and last attempt of peace negocition. After 2011, EU and USA will be forced to recognize Turkish Cypriot state and lift the unfair embargoes. Otherwise there will be a referendum in the Cyprus to be part of mainland Turkey. So, either they recognize the Turkish Cyprus or Turkey will annex the island, there is no other way but i am sure they will accept our demands because Turkey controls every energy pipelines which goes to the EU from Azerbaijan and Russia and sooner or later we gonna start dictating our demands to them.

I heard in several newspapers that Turkey decided to make northern Cyprus as a center for ultra-luxury tourism center of the Mediterranean and there are 100s of new continuing projects for it atm. They say that in few years, Cyprus will be able to compete with Monte Carlo and Ibiza and i bet it can be even better because none of them have the sun and sea of Cyprus.

Onur, What if the Greeks isolate Northern Cyprus? They will use the UN to their advantage you know how they play dirty. I think somebody there should learn how to negotiate not to dictate what their terms are, instead of forming a coalition government they are looking for every way to exterminate the Turkish Citizens.

Prolet, northern Cyprus is already isolated with embargoes since 1974. This is the maximum harm they can do to us and it doesn't work either since Turkey helps northern Cyprus in every way and we donate them about one billion Euro every year for free. This isolation and embargoes only effects Turkish Cypriots psychologically because this is not something they deserved. They didn't produce nuclear bombs nor they did anything bad. Their population is already not more than 350.000.

So, this is the best they can do already but as long as Turkey stays determined to support northern Cyprus, they cant do any harm except disturbing Turkish Cypriots psychologically.

Greeks now attempt to pose obstacle for Rihanna concert

After Greek Cypriots successfully thwarted a scheduled performance by US singer Jennifer Lopez in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, it appears they are now attempting to have Rihanna cancel a scheduled performance for a groundbreaking ceremony for a hotel in Girne. It appears, Greek Cyprus sympathizers have begun a campaign on the popular social networking site, facebook.

Twenty three thousand people petitioned against J-Lo’s performance by joining a facebook page titled “AGAINST JENNIFER LOPEZ PERFORMING IN OCCUPIED CYPRUS”

According to the Greek Cyprus Politis newspaper, in an article entitled, "War for Rihanna", it was announced that the internet campaign initiated to cancel the Lopez concert is now also being staged for Rihanna.”

This is becoming more and more stupid. I don't know but i wonder if Greeks realize that this is turning into a promotion for Turkish Cyprus

Whatever happens in the end, i gotta say that the Turkish Cyprus never had such free worldwide advertising. A great PR, haha

Onur the greeks will stop at nothing>i heard that they are willing to pay to get the remaining turks out of cyprus & Greece will allow turkey to join the eu without a veto.
I don't think anyone would be so willing in turkey to agree to it.ONur i don't think Greece is a proper "komsia" where as Macedonia & turkey know what it is & are alliances<ithink that if we are like that we would achieve more together.Greece cannot be allowed to bully people to get their way.Cyprus is so close to turkey that you could almost touch it.The greeks want to make it "pure"greek. You know i have cypriot greek friends who hate what the mainland greeks are doing. The cypriot greeks beleive if they opened the borders the two sides can coexist without outside interferrence.Mainland greece has irrendist claims, they even claim greek waters extending into turkish territorial waters.
Greece's inability to compromise is the thing that hinders any peaceful settlement of
                  the cyprus uissue.

It seems like somebody beat them to it

More provocation from Greeks. I think neo-nazi clowns got bored and wanted to kill some Turks. Btw, Turkish consulate in Salonika is not just a regular building. Ataturk`s home is inside the garden of the consulate. It`s a museum now, with lots of personal belongings of him inside. In late 1950s, 100s of Greeks tried to
