Macedonia Sends Two Fire-Fighting Planes to Russia

Hopefully this will improve our relations even further.

Macedonia will send two airplanes to Russia to help the country's combat against fires, the Government decided on Thursday.

Two Fire-Fighting Airplanes wil soon be sent to Russia, along with a group of 20 firefighting experts, the Government's Information Service said in a press release.

Russia has faced devastating fires for more than two weeks now, engulfing thousands of acres of land, endangering small town as well as large cities.

That's all very well macedonia helping Russia.But i just heard on the news that there's fires
in chernonbyl out of control & officials are worried about radiiation escaping & causing damage.I just hope none of our people are sent to chernobyl where they will die from radiation.

Where did you get that info from?

Macedonia does not have the CL-415. That aircraft was in MK in 07 when the country was under flames, it came from Croatia.

Macedonia has air tractors At-802. They are also from Canadair but single engine, single pilot, pretty much are smaller version.

We are there for everyone, even when Greece was burning we offered help but they quickly refused it.

Blagojce, Im pretty sure that our Government got a few planes this year, i know they got new fire engines for the municipalities. If they are getting 2 planes out to Russia then surly they have another 2 in Stari Kraj just incase we get caught in a wild bush fire. There is a heat wave at the moment the temperatures are around 40 degrees.

I know they recieved 2 aircraft last year and maybe one more this year. from what i know the order was for 3 aircraft. so there must be one more in SKP right now. depending on where the aircraft are based in Russia, they could arrive back in MK within 24-48 hours.

In his interview for ITAR TASS news agency, State advisor for foreign affairs of Macedonian President Gjorgje Ivanov, Darko Kostadinovski said that Macedonia and Russia will soon sign a cooperation and friendship memorandum, adding that Russian President Dimitry Medvedev is likely to come and visit Macedonia.

The relations between the two countries have reached the level, when two countries should sign a cooperation and friendship memorandum, Kostadinovski said.

He pointed out that this initiative has been expected, adding that Macedonian President Ivanov has already supported this step.

Macedonia is ready for such a deal, as it will boost constant political dialogue and deepen the cooperation in several areas: economy, energy, culture, education, tourism etc, Kostadinovski said.

He expressed hope that the two presidents will meet in Macedonia and sign this deal soon.
