Oh it will be the first thing Obama does.
    Change Macedonia's name.

Actually, i predict much more of the same (in this regard).

      I hope U>S policy doesn't change.

I think its a small ray of light with Obama there, but isn't it strange how his middle in is Hussein.

        his father was a muslim.

its undersatdnable he has been pro greek given his close personal friendship with a greek, the size and power of the greek lobby and the prevailing pro greek veiw of the ancient world in most western circles.

obama so far has shown hinself to be a moderate and cautious , he is also a person who may be able to cahnge his mind once exposed to another view of the balkans.

what will be more important to him to appease the greek lobby or to maintain continuity in us foreign policy in the balkans.

we will see personally i dont think he will be as pro greek in office as he has been as a senator .

Like any other president, he is only a front men, but the desissions are made by others.

He like person has little to say. he has to represent the interests of his Party or his master who are pulling the strings behind.

I don't know if in such critical times for America, they will have interest in dealing the Name Dispute.

And for the Greks, they are always vocal about everything.

Barking dog does not bites. They just wan't to provoke fear tenssion among Macedonians.
To enquire after the impression behind an idea is the way to remove disputes concerning nature and reality.

If he has a Greek in his ear, I'd be a bit more worried.

We might just yet see the hypocricy unfold. I would hope not ofcourse, but who knows what will happen.

I'm more worried by what the Macedonian leadership might or might not do - than the U.S.

One thing I read yesterday in the paper is sort of something that woke me up from this Obama this, that and the other. It said that yesterday for the first time he was briefed on US security, interanational plans and US INTERESTS. Maybe Macedonia is still one of US's interests

The U.S are looking for allies in Eastern Europe and that part of the world.

I think Macedonia might be one of them. Greece has lost its cold war advantage of being the last outpost of the West before the communist bloc begins.

The lobby groups could not even get close to these issues at federal level. For a damn good reason.

                        That's a good point RTG.

I'm still confused about the U.S position though. What have they said in the past about this "dispute"?

                          American position on Macedonia

US President-elect Barack Obama will usher in new rules to restrict the role of lobbyists as he puts together his administration, says a senior official.

"President-elect Barack Obama has pledged to change the way Washington works and curb the influence of lobbyists."
More good than bad for Macedonians in my opinion.

obama has talked the talk but will he walk the walk , willl he be able to actually deliver in deeds the hope he preached. martin luther king said you can judge a man not by his colour or creed but by his words and deeds, most of his advisors are recycled clinton era hacks.

Hilary in Charge of Foreign Affairs

Wonderful, one of the world's biggest 'Slav' hating families in charge of foreign affairs.

Can we expect more 'humanitarian wars'?
