The study, like others, shows a far more complex intermixture of peoples in the region over a number of different eras than the 19th Century Nationalist Model erroneously projects. Language doesn’t necessarily convey biological ancestry. It’s interesting to note that there may be a significant minority population descended from the Phrygians in the region. There’s even people living in the area that appear to be descended from the Hittites from what I’ve read in studies.

                                J1 = 9% - Typical amongst people from the Arabian Peninsula.
                                J2 = 24% - Typical amongst Near Eastern and Western Asia peoples.
                                R1a = 6.9% - Typical of Eastern Europeans and Central Asians
                                I = 5.3% - Typical of Central Europeans and Balkan populations
                                R1b = 14.7% -Typical of Central Asia and Western Europeans
                                G = 10.9% - Typical of people from the Caucasus
                                E1b1b = 11.3% - Typical amongst populations of the Balkans.
                                N = 3.8% - Typical of Siberian and Altaic populations
                                T = 2.5% - Typical of Mediterranean and South Asian populations
                                K = 4.5% - Typical of Asian populations.
                                L = 4.2% - Typical of Indian Subcontinent and Khorasan populations.
                                Q = 1.9% - Typical of Northern Altaic populations.

                                I think oversimplification tends to lead to unrealistic perceptions regarding other peoples. You guys could very well be related. Now, that would be a wake up call.

                                It`s known fact that all Balkan populations shows genetic similarity between them. Greeks, Turks and southern Italians are being closest.

                                These DNA group combinations above even suits the historical events and populations here;

                                "R1a, I, R1b, E1b1b" are typical DNA of Europeans, total of %34 in Turkey.
                                "J2, G, N, Q" are typical Eurasian DNA highest among Azerbaijani, Georgia to Finland, total of %41 in Turkey.
                                J1 are highest among Kurds of eastern Turkey. %9 representation also suits their population here.

                                So, local people didn't vaporize in Anatolia as Spartan and Greek history books claims and this DNA analysis is the proof but ofc god forbid if Greeks accept this, people understands that their "racially pure ancient Greek" idea is fake and they might start feeling closeness to their neighbors!!!

                                I think i posted this link here before but check this out;

                                The Etruscans: A Population-Genetic Study;
                                For modern day DNA samples, we chose the Basques as representative of western Europe, the Turks as representative of the eastern Mediterranean region, Karelians and Volga Finns as representative of northeastern Europe, and Egyptians and Algerians as representative of North Africa. Etruscan specimens in this study are ∼2,500 years old.

                                The shortest genetic distances between the Etruscan and modern populations are with Tuscans (FST=0.036; P=.0017) and Turks (FST=0.037; P=.0001). Other southern and eastern Mediterranean populations also showing relatively close genetic relationships. In the MDS plot, the Etruscans fall out of an unstructured cluster comprising most European and Caucasus populations, including the Turks. In particular, the Turkish component in their gene pool appears three times as large as in the other populations.

                                http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1181945/

                                So, even ~2500+ year old DNA is still exist in Anatolia. This is also another proof of the predominant DNA of the very first Eurasian immigrants(Etruscans to Cumans and Oghuz people) to Balkans and Anatolia was "J2, G and N"
