Why don't Macedonians ask for "war money" from Greece.

After all Greece invaded Macedonia unprovoked in what can only be described as a unjust war.

Greece took our land, our villages, our towns, our property, our titles and have been wiping us out culturally ever since.

What about all the money and produce these invaded lands have been producing for the Greek State - the amount of revenue and income produced by this strip of occupied land.

Put a price on that?

Public opinion in Germany wants to see Greece sink.

If there was similar opinion in other parts of Europe - Greece would be in serious trouble. Myhope is they get rid of Greece and poor all of that money into the Macedonian Republic. That Europe "Brokers" a Federation For Peace initiative where Bulgaria and Albania (and eventually Greece) give up some land.

Up to 25 bln euros in aid mooted for Greece-report

Berlin, February 20 (MIA) - The countries using the euro currency will together provide aid worth between 20 billion and 25 billion euros for Greece, according to Germany's Finance Ministry, a magazine reported on Saturday.

Citing "initial considerations" by the ministry, German weekly Der Spiegel said the share of financial aid for Greece would be calculated according to the proportion of capital each country holds in the European Central Bank.

A spokesman for the German finance ministry said he would not comment on the report, which stated that the financial assistance should take the form of loans and guarantees.

The report said all euro countries would shoulder the burden and that Germany's share in the package would amount to four billion or five billion euros, and be handled by state-owned bank KfW.

According to the German planning, the aid should be tied to strict conditions, the magazine said, adding that loan tranches should only be paid out once these are met.

Chancellor Angela Merkel's government has so far resolutely deflected appeals to promise Greece aid despite fears that failure to help Athens could threaten the euro.

In public, Germany argues that leniency would take pressure off Athens and other euro zone debtors to cut their budget deficits. Behind the scenes, lawmakers acknowledge that Berlin has prepared measures if a rescue becomes inevitable.

A senior financial official in the ruling coalition told Reuters last week Germany was considering using the KfW to buy Greek government bonds. A separate proposal saw the KfW issuing guarantees to German banks that bought the Greek bonds.

Separately, Der Spiegel said that an internal report by Germany's financial market watchdog BaFin concluded that German banks could be seriously threatened if Greece or other countries including Spain, Portugal and Italy become insolvent.

I wouldn't doubt that some type of help may be on the way for the brat 'Greece' as the Euro's are faced with a dilema in deciding which is worse or more expensive; to bail or not to bail? Politicians who are accountable to their voters and taxpayers know that they can only successfully sell the latter. However, to protect their currency and stability of the Eurozone they would have to act with no political support and pony up.

They don't want to do that, they want the ECB to start issuing it's own debt in an effort to consolidate the debt markets of the EMU. As it currently stands there are 11 debt markets in the EMU, meaning, that to buy EU member debt, you must deal with 11 different central banks, customs, regulations and so on and so forth. If the ECB was to set a precedent and issue it's own debt, they could conceivably unify the banks of the EMU.

A lack of leadership within the European Union has worsened Greece's financial crisis by failing to calm market fears the country might default on its massive debt load, the Greek deputy prime minister said Monday.

Theodoros Pangalos said EU leaders were "not up to the scale of the task" in dealing with the crisis.

He spoke as officials from the EU and the International Monetary Fund were due in Athens to begin a rigorous inspection of Greece's public finances. The EU has given Athens a March 16 deadline to show improvements in its budget or face tougher spending cuts.

"I'm of the opinion that today's Europe has no political leadership," Pangalos told Greece's private Skai Television.

Asked about the financial crisis, he added: "The people who are managing the fortunes of Europe were not up to the task."

"I believe if Delors was in change in Europe, Mitterrand in France and Kohl in Germany ... things would not be the same," he said, referring to former EU Commission President Jacques Delors, late President Francois Mitterrand, and former Chancellor Helmut Kohl.

Greece's Socialist government has promised to take tougher measures if needed to meet its target for reducing the budget deficit from a projected 12.7 percent last year to 8.7 in 2010 -- despite mounting opposition from labor unions, which are planning a general strike Wednesday.

Union protests have already caused fuel shortages. Supply problems eased after customs officials called off a strike late Sunday in the wake of a court decision declaring their protest illegal.

A poll published Sunday by the daily Ethnos newspaper showed an estimated 57.6 percent of Greeks believe austerity measures taken so far are "in the right direction," while 75.8 percent think unions should show restraint until the end of the crisis. No margin of error was given.

Greece Bracing For Nationwide Shutdown Over Austerity Measures

(RTTNews) - Greece is bracing for a nationwide shutdown Wednesday when over three million public and private sector workers will resort to a 24-hour strike to protest the austerity measures announced by the Papendrou government.

Normal life is likely to be paralyzed as the call for the shutdown has the support of employees in ministries, municipal offices, hospitals, schools, universities, banks, courts and factories.

With mediapersons too expected to join the protest, there is the possibility of a virtual news blackout across the country.

Greece has been in political turmoil ever since the ruling socialist government announced a series of austerity measures including wage freeze and wage cuts to bail it out from a swelling budget deficit.

However, financial analysts were of the view that the current unrest in Greek society would do more harm than good as seen recently, when global investors brought down the Euro's value and increased the risk premium on buying Greek government bonds.

Athens pledged to bring down its budget deficit to the European Union mandated three per cent by 2012 with a four per cent reduction planned at the turn of the current year.

A weekend poll showed that 55 per cent of Greeks favored the austerity measures and 74 per cent felt that the authorities were too slow to react, while 75.8 per cent wanted a moratorium on strikes until the crisis passed.
