Risto, you would be very hard pressed to find any Macedonian that would dispute what is being posted here towards the UMD because as much as they don't want to read about it, it's the truth and the wishes of the Diaspora.

UMD, have never represented their paid membership the past 5 years like they're suppose to be doing and the only real voice is that of the board and their alias names.

    NO ONE HAS BEEN FOOLED!

        Welcome MK.

I feel your pain and anger and we have all the right to feel this way.

I can handle (only just) other Nationalities and their Organizations being negative or anti Macedonian. But when its your own people, it's intolerable.

I seen this coming for many reasons and here's a few ..

          - many oversized hats in 5 years
          - area's they had no prior knowledge and learn on the job
          - poor judgement and timing (trips over main concerns)
          - don't understand how to represent the macedonian diaspora
          - the american factor (nemitz and reeker)

Does ANYONE care about a boat cruise?

A short summary, but fairly accurate one at that!
On Delchev's sarcophagus you can read the following inscription: "We swear the future generations to bury these sacred bones in the capital of Independent Macedonia. August 1923 Illinden"

thanks, really no need to go into great great detail regarding the UMD - very simple stuff at the best of times.

This is an MRHMI and AMHRC campaign, they decided to do it themselves and I hope it is a successful one. Sorry for not replying earlier (family matters).

Its good that UMD now has a resolution stating its support to end the negotiation process.

Perhaps you will create a campaign of your own with another set-up that calls for human rights and the rigth to self-identification?

What I'm saying is, it would be good to follow-up the new resolution with some sort of action. Or maybe you have?

                      Once again blaming everyone else.

If UMD have released statements calling for name changes, and released statements defending the negotiations - which we have produced again and again, is it not reasonable for Macedonians reading those statements to assume that that is what UMD actually stand for?

Are they now 'liars' because Meto and yourself have been caught out calling for name changes, defending the E.U ...etc?

What is this constant reference to 'liars' of good ordinary Macedonians? If there is any confusion about UMD - it comes from UMD. The Macedonians cannot be blamed for being critical of yourself, of Meto and UMD in general - given the gaping contradictions you make in your statements.

The only thing an objective observer can point to for certain now are the obvious contradictions emerging in UMD statements about what you stand for.

UMD has to ditch this ideology that between our right to exist and the Greek terms for our political extinction, there exists gradations open to negotiation and interpretation. That has to end.

Secondly, if our entry to the E.U means we have to negotiate (something which you have stated yourself as necessary), in other words if the E.U institution is demaning we change our name (and we all know that it is), then UMD has to ditch the other part of its ideology which has been defending the E.U institution, tooth and nail, praising it and gloryfying it and instead hold it to account, be more critical of it. I mean whose interests do you represent?

You also have to drop this sickening habit you have of labelling anyone who expects nothing less from others that they accept us the way we are - as 'nationalists'.

This kind of labelling simply sends signals to Macedonians that you really have absolutely no idea what you stand for.

What is UMD doing to help the AMHRC with its campaign to end the negotiations?

                        Onur, hi,

Turkey was great! We went to Istanbul, Ankara, Cannakkale (Gallipolli and Troy). We met with several businesses, NGO sector people, Jewish community, Ecumenical Patriachate, Turkish Foreign Ministry, etc..

We have a matching grant, and a scholarship program with TCA.

Please check tc-america.org for the press release on the Turkey trip.

Every September from now on will be UMD Membership Month, where UMD encourages its current members to renew their support of UMD for the upcoming year, and for new people to join UMD. UMD Board Chairman Stojan Nikolov kicks off September as UMD Membership Month with a letter discussing previous accomplishments of UMD and future goals/plans for the organization.

I think its safe to say that most Macedonian organizations or the Macedonian government supports the entry into EU, regardless if they "glorify" EU institutions or not. What is clear, is that they now all support entry but not under blackmail or change of constitutional name.

With this in mind, Macedonian organizations, wether human rights, lobby or government, are taking the position to represent the vast majority of Macedonians.

If I read between the lines from the above UMD response, I think they may do something on their own, perhaps another campaign or some other project that focuses on human rights issues - AMHRC will do fine with its campaign, even if UMD has not been involved with the process. It is what it is now, time to move forward and set new projects into work.

Alek, to say you don't support a name change and now we fully support the END of the negotiations is another matter all together. To date we have seen NOTHING in writing stating the UMD demands an END to the name process, why not?

Do you think by saying we are against a name change is the exact same as an END? If so, UMD will find themselves holding a single candle.

                              NOTE

At some point the UMD will have to make a decision, to represent the Macedonians in Diaspora or governments. One or the other as an NGO never both.

                              - we don't support any one political party rather work with them all. (includes crvenkovski)

In their resolution they CALL on the Macedonian government to end name negotiations.

Do you think that if UMD wrote "we demand the Macedonian government to end name negotiations" would make the difference so much that the Macedonian government ends the name talks?
