Velija's Son Still on the Run...

            Saturday, 25 December 2010
            Image

The Macedonian police has filed an internal warrant against Hedi Ramkovski (36), the son of embattled A1 owner Velija Ramkovski. According to the police, there are indications that H.R. is still in Macedonia while for three Kosovo and one Turkish citizen the police has filed an international warrant with Interpol.

The police in a statement released earlier says their operation "Spiderweb" will not stop, rather it has expanded to numerous other companies tied to Velija Ramkovski.

According to the police, defrauding the public revenue service and money laundering were only a small part of what took place at "Pero Nakov bb".

A1 TV: To Tax Or Not to Tax

To tax (from the Latin '; "I estimate", which in turn is from '; "I touch") is to impose a financial charge or other levy upon a taxpayer (an individual or legal entity) by a state or the functional equivalent of a state such that failure to pay is punishable by law.

This is the universal definition of a Tax, understood by Everyone. The only exception is A1 TVs Owner Velija Ramkovski, who for 18 years has not been able to understand several rather simple legal obligations: pay taxes to the state, pay utilities to the city, obtain a food permit when manufacturing food, pay back loans
Why does one pay taxes? So the Government can re-invest the money in schools, better roads, hospitals, parks etc.

For 18 years, Velija Ramkovski was untouchable, due to his friendship with SDSMs leader Branko Crvenkovski who just yesterday went as far as to quit parliament in order to show support to his partner in crime. A1 TV has been essential for the SDSM party to get back to power via dark scenarios and destabilization of the country as showcased during the 2001 crisis when the current opposition lead by B. Crvenkovski found itself in power without holding elections.
Needless to say, Crvenkovski is hoping to reproduce the 2001 scenario in 2011. SDSMs job is to claim the country is in chaos and stage protests, while A1 TV is there to confirm/inflate such statements and inflate the number of protesters 10 fold, hoping it would bring more people out.

              Velija Crvenkovski and Branko Ramkovski

The relationship between the media magnate V. Ramkovski and the opposition leader dates back to early 1990s. A1 TV has long been considered the PR machine not just for Crvenkovski, but during the last three years for Athens in its infamous name dispute.
Because of Ramkovskis friendly relations with the SDSM, A1 TVs owner was never audited, or visited neither by the Tax Office, nor by the Food Administration despite overwhelming evidence that he was illegally producing food, drinks, even detergents (all in the same facility).

For years, Skopje mayors tried and failed to collect close to 500,000 Euros in unpaid utilities by A1 TV and other firms located at Pero Nakov BB. Each time a Skopje mayor tried to collect their unpaid utilities, they were relentlessly attacked by A1 TV as bad and unfit mayors. Ask Trifun Kostovski. No City office was allowed to enter the offices at Pero Nakov BB out of fear they will make the nightly news. It explains why the city of Skopje doesnt have a blueprint of A1s building which has been expanded and modified numerous times without obtaining permits for it.
After 18 long years, the present Macedonian Government is the first to challenge and convict Velija Ramkovski for tax evasion and fraud. A1 TV employees claim their owner is innocent, although his son is still on the run, with police sources believing he is hiding in Kosovo. Innocent people dont run!
A1 TV employees today are following the advice of Crvenkovskis Slovenian consultants - when confronted for abuse of media power or illegal business dealings one should always counter the allegations with there is no democracy and our freedom of speech is in danger.

The above two phrases are mentioned by A1 TV around 200 times during their news broadcast. The station's attempt to attract foreign attention by reading news in nature (outside) has failed.
All of this could have been avoided if Velija Ramkovski paid his taxes. I learned the same lesson the hard way. I owed $900 to the IRS since 2000. In 2007, I noticed $900 were frozen from my bank account without any warning and were already on their way to the beloved agency. Lesson learned!
Time for Velija Ramkovski to learn his 4.5 million euros lesson! //Gorazd V.
When the Macedonian opposition leaves parliament to protest this act, it makes me wonder how any Macedonians could vote for them.

Risto, They are starting to show their true faces, i think SDSM is doing this because sooner or later some of their big faces will be behind bars.

Zoran Zaev now openly states that should SDSM come to power they will sack all workers who are not part of their political party. I dont know how anybody can trust these animals, they should be kicked out of Macedonia once and for all

At least the SDS leadership are openly treacherous, whereas their equivalents at DPMNE still pretend to be 'patriots' while negotiating our identity with foreigners.

This is a good example of the rot that is infesting the thinking of many Macedonians - that they have no responsibilities.

But, I do agree with SoM, at least SDSM is honest about its intentions and the motivations behind them.

The danger of DPMNE is that many of its committed followers will go down with the ship in the mistaken belief that Gruevski and Co. are patriots fighting the cause. Many will awake once its too late, claiming, as they now do in relation to Georgievski, they could not have known. But the obvious question arises - how could they not have known, considering DPMNE's treason in accepting the Interim Accord and the Framework Agreement was pointed out to them very clearly?
If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

The Revolution was in the minds and hearts of the people; a change in their religious sentiments, of their duties and obligations...This radical change in the principles, opinions, sentiments, and affections of the people was the real American Revolution. John Adams

A1 Shocks Viewers with Unprofessional Interview as PM Stops By

Just when you thought you’ve seen all the shenanigans by A1 TV, there is always some more…
The Macedonian Prime Minister this evening was a guest on A1 TV’s nightly news in order to voice his opinion regarding the situation the private station has found itself in.

                        New “Studio” settings:

In a somewhat bizarre fashion, the private Skopje based TV station has been broadcasting its news for several days now from a public sidewalk, right across the Government building. Pedestrians aren’t capable of crossing the street because A1 TV had usurped public property. The Skopje police hasn’t done anything regarding this matter, nor have they sanctioned the TV station.
A1 TV is not prohibited from being at/inside their premises at Pero Nakov bb, however for ‘media effect’ and to make the Government look ‘undemocratic’, the broadcast booth is set outside.

                        The painful Interview:

You can find out everything you need to know about A1 TV’s owner, by simply seeing who is employed at his TV station. A1’s editor-in-charge, Mladen Chadikovski started off the interview by calling the Primer Minister “boss” as if the PM is a member of a mafia clan. Chadikovski confirmed his utter unprofessionalism and outright stupidity by asking the Macedonian PM “Why did you shoot A1 TV in the heart by freezing our accounts”. This was his first question.

Remarkably, the PM kept his cool and answered questions, adding he didn’t do anything to A1, rather it was its owner, Velija Ramkovski.
“The prosecutors’ office and the Macedonian courts simply follow standard procedures when dealing with tax evasion. Freezing accounts is one of the procedures” stated the Prime Minister.

During the entire interview, A1’s editor in chief and ‘journalist’ Borjan Jovanovski kept interrupting the PM each time he had something to say that wasn’t favorable to them…
Chadikovski later provoked the PM by accusing him of ownership of the Macedonian Courts! The PM reminded A1's editor in chief that just a year and a half ago, a Skopje based court had frozen the Government’s accounts for owing money to several companies, noting once again this is a standard procedure, even when the Government owes money.

For students studying journalism, the interview conducted by A1’s Editor in Chief is a great example how not to conduct an interview with anyone, let alone a Prime Minister.
To view the interview in its entirety follow the link: http://www.a1.com.mk/vesti/default.aspx?VestID=133719
The Macedonians originates it, the Bulgarians imitate it and the Greeks exploit it!

                              SDSM leaves parliament

SDSM leaves parliament after its possessions like A1 TV have been convicted of illegal activities. I say don't come back!

The socialist opposition in EU candidate country Macedonia has announced it is leaving the country's parliament, in protest against a move by the centre-right government to block the bank accounts of several media companies.

The socialists have 18 MPs in the 120-member parliament.

The ruling coalition consists of centre-right affiliated parties with 53 MPs (the VMRO-DPMNE alliance) and the ethnic Albania Democratic Union for Integration, with 18 MPs.

Crvenkovski, who has in the recent past served as prime minister and as president, said his party took the decision to leave parliament following the blocking by the prosecution of the bank accounts of TV channel A1 as well as daily newspapers Vreme, Spic and Koha e Re.

Crvenkovski rejected claims by centre-right Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski that TV channel A1 is guilty of fraud, ties with organised crime and tax evasion.

The opposition leader said Gruevski's only motivation had been to "hide its own criminal activity" and to silence the opposition in the media.

Crvenkovski said that his party SDSM was now "on the barricades".

The Vreme daily carried the headline 'Execution!' on its front page, writing that by moving to block the bank accounts of media firms, the government is "killing democracy".

An anonymous commentary piece released by press agency MINA, a media run by immigrants from Macedonia, asserts that the owner of A1, Velija Ramkovski, was untouchable for 18 years due to his friendship with Crvenkovski. A1 has never been audited, nor has it been visited by either the Tax Office or the Food Administration, despite overwhelming evidence that it was illegally producing food, drinks and even detergents in the same facility, MINA says.

It adds that A1 TV was "essential" for the SDSM party to return to power "via dark scenarios and destabilisation of the country".

A smaller party, New Democracy, which has four ethnic Albanian MPs, has also decided to leave parliament, according to press reports.

Asked by EurActiv to comment, Natasha Butler, spokesperson for EU Enlargement Commissioner tefan Fle, said the European Commission's position was that political debate should take place in the institutions that are designated for that purpose meaning national parliaments.

She also said it was important for political players across party lines to find solutions that work for the country's EU integration and deliver on its broader European agenda.

She said that this was something the Commission had been saying for the last 18 months regarding the parliamentary boycott in neighbouring Albania (see 'Background').

But she declined to comment on whether the parliamentary boycott in Albania may have had a contamination effect in Macedonia.

Why Go To Work When You Get Paid Either Way

                                Wednesday, 02 February 2011

Around 30 Parliament members that people have elected to represent their interests and solve their every day problems opted to boycott all Parliament sessions, quit their duties, but did not give up on their pay, which averages to 60,000 + denars per month.

Parliament members belonging to the SDSM, NSDP, ND, NA and the Liberal Party decided to quit parliament last friday, for a rather peculiar reason, a Court case against a private TV station. Their absence will cost taxpayers over 30,000 euros per month.

If you think this is strange, the absence of DPA's members in parliament which have been away for over two years, have cost Macedonia's taxpayers over 100.000 euros. DPA's leader Menduh Thaci over the last decade has been present only 20% of the time, but he has never failed to collect his pay!

According to SDSM MP Vlado Buckovski, some parliament members don't say anything, but still collect their pay, so it doesn't really matter if the MP's are present or not. Slavica Grkova of the SDSM flew to Washington yesterday, the trip paid for by Parliament, to be present at the Breakfast prayer. This means she is not boycotting parliament, at least not when it comes to overseas traveling!

While most Macedonians barely manage to make ends meet and can easily get fired from their jobs for being late, the same doesn't apply to our elected politicians. They never have to show up to work, and will still collect their pay, paid by us, the taxpayers.
