ND and DPA want Macedonians to speak Albanian language

Skopje. Parties of Albanian political block in Macedonia made new request for use of Albanian language, Macedonian Vecer daily informed. While New Democracy / ND / of Imer Slemani wanted bilingualism at the parliament, which was later supported by the Democratic Union for Integration /DUI/, now the opposition Democratic Party of Albanians / DPA / demanded Albanian language to become a second official language throughout Macedonia, regardless that in certain areas over 20% of the population speaks this language. Party of Menduh Tachi even threatened to leave that parliament if their demands would be ignored again at today's meeting with Chairman of the parliament Trajko Veljanoski.

    the best joke today
    1) Macedonians belong to the "older" Mediterranean substratum...
    2) Macedonians are not related with geographically close Greeks, who do not belong to the "older" Mediterranenan substratum...

Thaci the terrorist can leave the parliament, and leave the country while he is at it.

Dimko, your title is misleading, and while you do stipulate it as a joke, one would need to open the thread to realise this. Otherwise, somebody looking at the front page will assume that this is really the case. Therefore, I have taken the liberty of making a slight alteration to the title, hope you don't mind.

I don't see it as a joke, I actually think this is going to happen but not as soon as they want it. All massive companies, embassies, hotels employ Albanians because they speak three languages, most Macedonians will be forced to learn the language. Soon more people will be speaking Albanian while the demands of their politicians will not stop and sooner or later we'll give in.
They have got everything they wanted. The got a country in Serbia, I think we should take them a bit more seriously and deal with the problem now/

Indeed, this is what we get for allowing them more than they should have in the first place, as if they are any better than the other minorities or the majority Macedonians themselves.

When the majority do not care about themselves or their future, there is no hope.
            Apathy is never rewarded.
At least the French protest when they feel wronged.
Our people just say it is fate or some other stupid thing.

Tetovo, Gostivar etc Albanians is the first language, any shop, restaurant, place you enter they speak to you in Albo first, if you say i don't understand they say Makeondi and start speaking to you in Macedonio-Serbian. Part of Skopje is the same, have you tried going to the shops in Bit Pazar? They are everywhere, they have demands and they will want them met. If you go Western Macedonia you will see signs, billboards etc only in Albanian, like it's Albania. Arachinovo, Lipkovo etc are the same story. In this places we don't exist. I am not sure if there is still time for us to take control or not
Serb were laughing at the Albanians fantasies in the 90's, look who is laughing now?

Jankovska, doesn't Macedonian law oblige them to have dual-language signs? Exclusively Albanian signage, particularly the official type such as streets signs, shouldn't exist.

It looks bad guys, but it isn't over yet.

I guess but than who is to sto them. I mean they never put the Macedonian flag up in these places, they never put a single sign in Macedonian, they don't allow Macedonian celebrations etc. No one is really giving them a smack on the hand.
How are we going to get that par back? How are we going to return our Macedonian families back to the houses they destroyed in 2001?
I don't know, when it comes to the Albanians I just find it more and more difficult to stay positive

What do you think needs to be done, by who, and how do they go about it?

I think the goverment should take a firm step up and create a fond that will help all the families that lost their houses in 2001 return to these places. There should be new movments of Macedonians from East to West
Secuirty must be massive, place special police that will control the local police in these places formed mainly of Macedonian who will be there to keep the peace
help re-build our churches and inforce the use of Macedonian as first language
Make sure Macedonian flag is raised above all goverment buildings in the whole of Macedonia
Create jobs, private schools to get Macedonians to have a reason to move that way and than do a lot to keep them there. Example Macedonians with 3+ kids get a free flat in Tetovo etc. Even out the numbers so that we can have more control
Something along those lines. Return the Macedonians in these parts but provide security for them

A reasonable and sensible response, thanks Jankovska. I suppose the next thing is, what can we or anybody else do to get things moving in that direction, to get the government to start taking this action?

This is all part of the plans of the MacedonoAlbanians to federalize the country. They are attempting to make Albanian an official language in the entire country.

The same as English and French are the official languages in Canada. While many of you might feel threatened, I don't see this as being that bad. It will help Macedonia improve relations with Albania and Kosovo and also help foster better economic ties.

Well it is a good thing that you are not Macedonian and don't have a say in the matter either way, you banana, where do you see the justification?

Many countries have 2 official languages with Canada, Belgium etc being prime examples. Not sure why this is such a big deal or you feel threatened by it.

This will show to the World that we are secure in who we are as a people and also that we are the pillar of human rights in the Balkans.
