Moving To Bitola For 1-2 years to open a Cafe/disco?

A good friend's daughter just married a Bitolcanec. She can't get work over there and is treated like scum by most. In fact, every time she is in Australia she gets incredibly high paying jobs (given her lack of tertiary education) and always lands on her feet. Over there, she can't seem to do anything right. It probably doesn't help that she is attractive (unlike over here).

She learned quite a lot from living there. Basically everyone is corrupt. The government truly reflects the people! What a pity they haven't moved forward.

Probably a couple of things at play there...

1) In Macedonia it's not what you know, or how good you are at your job but rather who you know and what strings they can pull for you.
(there's an element of that even here in Oz but not to the extent of the rampant corruption and nepotism that is an integral part of the fabric of Macedonian society)

2) It probably doesn't help that she is considered a foreigner...you know how arrogant they are when it comes down to the so called 'stranci' thinking they know everything, when the belief is that only the Macedonian's know 'everything'...

It's these beliefs that will keep that place locked down in the dark-ages for many generations to come but unfortunately it's a culture that is set from the highest places in Macedonian society and those people won't change because they're too stupid to see beyond their self interest.
