Skopje. An attempt to attract attention or radicalization on the part of Democratic Party of Albanians (DPA) leader Menduh Taci, writes the website evesti.mk.
At a forum of the party, while presenting mayoral candidates, Taci said that if the party came to power, they would ban the song Makedonsko Devojce (Macedonian Girl) in the municipality of Cair and that the Albanian flag would not be smaller than the Macedonian one.
Focusing on the nationalistic rhetoric, the DPA leader said the party would not allow investments only in municipalities where Macedonians lived.
“Ramush Haradinaj’s support is a major election trick of DPA,” writes Utrinski Vesnik daily.
The former Kosovan prime minister, who was acquitted and released by the Hague-based Tribunal, was expected to be a main guest at the presentation of the DPA mayoral candidates in Skopje. On Sunday Menduh Taci’s party neither denied, nor confirmed the information, saying that if it was necessary to announce such a guest, they would have done it. Still in the political and journalistic circles there were comments on Sunday that Ramush Haradinaj would be a main guest at the presentation and he could even take the floor.
In an article titled NATO is also silent about the threats to the neighbors in the Balkans Nova Makedonija says: “Macedonia should press NATO harder in relation with the nationalistic threats of Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha about independence of Albanians in all Albanian territories from Preveza to Presevo, from Skopje to Podgorica. The Alliance should express its opinion also about the attacks Golden Dawn made in the Greek parliament against Macedonians. The Macedonian foreign ministry should demand an explanation also from the Albanian ambassador in Skopje, Arben Cejku. What are the recommendations regarding the statements about overt territorial claims coming from Albania and Greece? Both countries are NATO members. According to the practice, when such situations arise, the Alliance reacts, as it was the case with the nationalists in Austria.”
Sali Berisha: “Albanophobia is lingering over the Balkans as a shadow,” reads a title in Macedonian Vecer daily.
It adds: “The national issue is a main issue to the Democratic Party, said Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha, addressing the youth forum of the party. The national issue is in the basis of the program of the Democratic Party. Albanophobia is lingering today over the Balkans as a shadow. In the past our neighbors considered us to be second- or third-hand citizens, added Berisha.”
