![]() The following are collected from the book by Aleksander Donski - The descendants of Alexander the Great of Macedon...
Theophilactus of Ohrid on the Music of Macedonia 11th to 12th century (in Macedonia Music 1979 page 39-46) A letter from Theophilactus of Ohrid - wrote he was in the “barbaric land - Macedonia,” where the population of Ohrid received him by singing: “some military victory songs” and of “their glory days.” Greek newspaper neologos published in constantinopole 29/04/1892 “The Bulgarian newspaper ‘Svoboda’ vigorously attacks the slavo-Macedonians in Bulgaria and intimidates them. And why? Because the Slavo-Macedonians, deceived, leave their ancestral homes move to Bulgaria where after they become familiar with the Bulgarian people, their language, character and customs, and after they realise that they are foreign to them, they recognise the deception and begin to work out their own language publishing various periodical journals in it.” Article“The Macedonian Question,” Published on 18/01/1871 Petko Slaveikov (Bulgarian activist, intellectual and church official) wrote; “I have heard many times from Macedonians that they were not Bulgarians, but Macedonians, descendant of the ancient Macedonians, and we have always anticipated evidence of that, but it never came...” In response Dimitri Makedonski in the article “On the Macedonian question” 16/02/1871, wrote: “The Macedonians did not disappear from the face of the earth, as same take liberty to assume, because as far as we know, they did not commit some offense sometime, so the earth would open up and swallow them.”

![]() Count Marcellinus and his Chronicle
Around the year 429 Constantinople was a very cosmopolitan place, and importantly, divided in ethnic enclaves. For example, there is an enclave for the Goths (and their Arian cult), for the Cappadocians, for the Armenians, and temples and churches built to various cults and Gods. Marcellinus writes: Quote:

![]() A Macedonian by Birth:
It has been reported that during the 14th century, one of Dushans generals had been a man named "Helja" who was "a Macedonian by birth". Source, The Macedonian Historical Themes, by Lazar Mojsov, page 80 |

![]() interesting thread.
there is also a document put together by Risto Stefov of the same type of nature, for those of you who might not have had a chance to see it http://www.oshchima.com/Historical%2...ents/hdoc1.pdf it did bring up a few questions for me though. generally, when a person writes their own history (something they've witnessed first hand) they are considered a great primary source. herodotus wrote (essentially) fairytales, yet is still considered the father of history. however, when a Macedonian writes about their own history, they are considered heretics, biased, manipulators, propagandists. why is this?? also, you can come across many writings and extensive works in favour of the Macedonian cause by the (so-called) enemies (ie, Greeks Serbs Bulgars Germans etc) but I've never seen a Macedonian go to battle for the flipside of the coin, other than a few sensational and out of context statements made by politicians and rambling professors who think they know better. surely his has to something? |

![]() “Tsar Alexander three hundred years before Christ with Macedonians had conquered the whole universe … And today in the Macedonian Kingdom our brothers suffer Because we are th only ones left in slavery Therefore we also want our own fatherland…Brother Macedonians of Orthodox faith, lets unite and courageously fight, the same as our ancestors led by Tsar Alexander, to revive the old glory.”
Giorgi Pulevski “Macedonian Fairy” 1878 “Mother Macedonia is very weakened. After she gave birth to the great Alexander, after she bore Saints Cyril and Methodius, since those labours mother Macedonia lays on her bed terribly exhausted. But a mother that bore such sons, in the future will bear others like them…She will produce many other Cyrils and Methodiuses, who will be the beacons of light of our schools and pillars of our faith and will restore the fame of the Macedonian name!” Gligor Prlichev, Macedonian Poet, intellectual and activist, 1885 “Consider, dear children, the great Tsar Alexander, whom we venerate until the present day!” Marko Tsepenkov, Folklore compiler, 1899 “There at Pindus and Shar, at Struma and Vardar where everything is covered by deep wounds, noble descendants of the Great Alexander, are fighting heroically against centuries long tyranny.” Peter Zagorov, Poet, 1903
