Hi Guy's, I thought I’d start a thread on an important Macedonian revolutionary who sadly is not that well known among Macedonians.
Apostol Petkov was born in the village of Bojmica (Aegean Macedonia/Gevgelija Region).
He was active from the early years of VMRO and personally recruited into the Organisation by Dame Gruev, Apostol Petkov was very influential during the period after the Ilinden uprising in the fight against the Greek propaganda bands.
The marshes around the Enidze Vardar lake was a strategic point where the Greek propaganda tried to gain control, however their ambitions were thwarted by Petkov and his band. This area was an important strategic location, this is due to the fact that whoever controlled the area would control the route to Voden, Gumendze and Solun.
What is fascinating about Apostol Petkov is that both the Turks and Greek propaganda bands could not beat him on his home turf, this is due to him being a native of the area and knew the marshes around Enidze-Vardar inside and out.
