Greece eyes veto on Macedonian automobile gasoline

A group of Greek citizens from Florina staged a protest at the Niki- Medzitlija border checkpoint at the Greek-Macedonian border on Tuesday, October 30. The demonstration was organised to express dissatisfaction with the fact that most people living in the region were going to refuel their vehicles in Bitola, writes Macedonian Dnevnik daily.
There were fuel traders among the protesters, who wished to react against the vicious practice of their compatriots.
Dnevnik comments that most of the residents of Florina and the nearby regions knew about the strike and went to Bitola to refuel their cars in the afternoon.
“Greece has the most expensive fuel in the region. The price of diesel in Macedonia is EUR 1.1, while in Greece – EUR 1.6. The cost of a fuel trip to Bitola runs to EUR 55, while to Greece – EUR 80.”
