Onur, Its not just Emirates and Etihad Airlines that are going after the football teams, Turkish Airlines must be spending alot of money in order to get these world class teams.

All i know is that turkish airlines are the cheapest around when travelling to macedonia.That
is travelling from bangcock to turkey then to skopje.I found the emirates much dearer but their aircraft were newer.I suppose they are all chasing for customers one way or the other.

George S, Turkish Airlines is expanding and so is TAV Airports i think they took control of an airport in Latvia recently.

Hopefully once TAV completes renovating the airports in Stari Kraj, we will see regular flights from Turkey and the cheaper airlines will start offering their services so that people can travel for much cheaper.

Its much better for us to fly to Skopje or Ohrid via Istanbul because geographically its much closer, where as if we fly to a Western European city its going to take much longer especially when you count the waiting period.

Right now Melbourne-Dubai-Istanbul-Skopje is the best travel route and the closest, there was talk of Qatar Airlines opening a flight Doha-Skopje thats going to be even better.

Got return ticket Adelaide - Singapore-London -Sofia for $2400 flying British airways whole way through. Includes 9 day stopover London (and go Scotland and Ireland). Reverse back. London had to be a stopover for us. will probably catch bus running every evening to Lake Ohrid, or see how much domestic flights are once there.
Good to know Turkish airlines are cheap as planning to base in Ohrid, and travel to Turkey for a few days.
