More than 600 Slavic language experts from 40 countries around the world will take part in the 14th Slavic Congress, to be held in Ohrid from 10-16 September.
Only the Slavic specialists from Greece refused to participate in the congress, a move silently welcomed by the rest of the participants.
In the course of the congress, Turkey, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Spain and China are to be promoted to members of the International Slavic Committee, our correspondent said.
The event will include an exhibition of more than 3.000 scientific works in the field of Slavic culture, which will remain in Macedonia's property.
"The congress in Ohrid will have a positive impact on the resolution of certain controversies. Even though the gathering is not of political nature, it can indirectly influence the settlement of the current political issues," said scholar Milan Gjurcinov, President of World Slavic Congress.
"Macedonia assumes a huge responsibility to provide conditions for civilized and democratic dialogue among congress' participants," Gjurcinov said.
The 14th World Slavic Congress will open on Wednesday.
