Thank you all for the greetings!
I come from Germany, i am a student in Master of Ethnology and having a phD related to Balkan history.

I have lived in your beautiful country twice for short periods (once for a month and once for almost a whole summer!) during my studies.
I have also had Erasmus 6 months nearby, in Thessaloniki.

Well freifrau, you must know quite a lot about Macedonia!
      Looking forward to your contributions.
Please start a thread anywhere and provide some observations about your time in Macedonia ... discussions with you about ethnology would be fascinating.

That's fantastic! Welcome here again, could you please give me your definition of ethnicity?
On Delchev's sarcophagus you can read the following inscription: "We swear the future generations to bury these sacred bones in the capital of Independent Macedonia. August 1923 Illinden"

Well asking an ethnologist for a definition of Ethnicity is like asking a psychologist the definition of Pscyche (=soul)!!

Well i could give you the definitions by some important ethnologists..or my own humble attempt...

but i really prefer to "live" it rather to define it.
cultural diversity and the striking similarities between defferent people is my motivation in Ethnology-anthropology.

As i can see many of you live abroad, so is thsi a forum for Macedonian Diaspora?
Pardon me but i didn't really had time to read much yet !

            Hello FF

Maybe this will be also in the spectrum of your interest:

reconstruction of the historical process of Slavic ethnogenesis
The purpose of the media is not to make you to think that the name must be changed, but to get you into debate - what name would suit us! - Bratot

Then it seems that you did the best choice to study Balkan history for your Phd.

I think you can find many interesting threads in the forum if this is your area of research. For example, i am an MBA student myself at comparative history and i also have special interest with Balkan history and I`ve found many interesting threads and info here. I believe, it would be useful for you too, to read different opinions here.

Well, although i have already read some about the subject i am not a specialist on it.

Actually, this seems to be an alternative theory, really interesting but yet quiet away from proof.

ps-the article as well as many of the bibliography are written by Polish.
Poles after socialism collapsed appear as fathers and protectors of the Slavs (not negative at all...just marking it )
They are also maybe the most interested in Macedonian ethnology -most of the foreign students during my stay in Macedonia were actually Poles!

                ps2-I love Malonowski !

"Erasmus" is a students' exchange program in Europe ...students can have their lessons for 6 months or 1 year at a university of another country. (i was in Greece)

Obviously this always ends up to an endless 6 months' party with students from all over Europe (or the world) !

The use of my nickname is not literal.

I tried to send you a pm to explain you (it is really simpler) ,but you have chosen the option of not permitting pms.

As i am re-thinking it...it is better to go on with the correlations,it is really amusing.
