Compared to Modern Greek, how much is Classical Greek different? I know some of you speak Greek, so I was just wondering what's your lay opinion about it compared to the ancient version. How much can you understand and what about the accent?

To me, ancient Greek kinda sounds like Hungarian for some reason. The accent I mean, but Hungarian accent has nothing to do with Greek.

Slovak, do we know what language the Iliad was originally written in, was it 'Homeric' Greek or Pelasgian or something else?

Who knows! But use logic. The author(s) of Iliad favour(s) the Achaeans not Trojans. I would say the Iliad is the Greek version of the story, so it was most likely in Homeric Greek or it's older version or some dialect of it.

I have read, that there is a bigger difference in the Greek of Homer to the Greek of Xenophon, than the Greek of Xenophon to todays Greek.(hope that made sense, lol)

Are we able to obtain a list of words from Homeric Greek? I have seen all sorts of theories thrown out there, even proposing connections to the Albanian (Shqiptar) language.

The Iliad and Odyssey were reformed during the time of the Athenian dictator Hipparchus (d. 514 BC). They were modernized and placed into a canonical form that we know today. It was mostly concerning the recitation of the texts.

The idea of a fake language is propagated by nationalists who think that language is made for the people and not by the people. Language is not an intellectual property, or property of any kind. It cannot be faked since it is always unique no matter what you do with it.
