    An Idiot Abroad - Macedonia

    I would like to get people impressions on this episode, could they have done it differently.

    An Idiot Abroad Season 3 Episode 1 Part 3 - YouTube

      how does it relate to macedonians.Yes it's kind of crazy.
      "Ido not want an uprising of people that would leave me at the first failure, I want revolution with citizens able to bear all the temptations to a prolonged struggle, what, because of the fierce political conditions, will be our guide or cattle to the slaughterhouse"

        I think they are only interested in the most weird and crazy so the show is more entertaining, but they do it in a way that implies that this is Macedonia. They even mention that this dervish cult is popular which implies that everyone in the country is doing it.

            Something similar happened on another show I think it had something to do with weddings. The whole show was about 3 weddings and choosing which wedding was the best, I don't know the details since I didn't watch it. A girl at work says to me "hey your Macedonian, last night on this show they had a Macedonian wedding. It was a little weird". So I asked ok what was so weird? "well they were doing this like ritual, and there was some kind of chanting, and people were praying to a dead pig or something like that". I said to her I don't know what you saw but what you've described is not Macedonian what so ever and I have never heard of anything like this in my life.
            I never bothered to find the episode because I was so insulted and pissed off at the show. God only knows who or where they filmed but it couldn't have been Macedonians, if it wasn't some shiptari or torbeshi or even dzupsi.
            They do it for ratings but at the same time I don't think they realize how degrading it is to actual Macedonians. Then we wonder why most people around the world know nothing about us and have all these prejudices and judgments. A few million people probably saw that show and probably none of them knew about Macedonia before hand and now they all think we are some kind of pagan pig worshipers.

              I'm not sure if anyone has seen Michael Palin's New Europe;

              He visited Ohrid. It was a brief visit, but it was good to see.

                Is this the one where they showed him on a boat in the Ohrid lake for 10 seconds then cut to Bulgaria and Turkey?

                  classic example of minorities dominating the majority, although this is the nature of the show, where they focus on Karl Pilkington’s reactions to cultural differences and idiosyncrasies in the countries he visits. If your ever in Macedonia and you are searching for something weird just ask a guptin or a shiptar . its not hard

                  although i do agree, Macedonia had a tendency to publicise minority groups,

                  Eg: latest example......Esma and her gypsie shit, who knows wtf she is saying in that queer eurovision spectacle.

                    Esma Redzepova is a musical icon in Macedonia, just like Ferus Mustafov. I am not sure of their political views (I haven't heard anything anti-Macedonian about them, if somebody has, then feel free to share it), but there is no shame in the fact that they're ethnically Roma, you racist knucklehead.
                    In the name of the blood and the sun, the dagger and the gun, Christ protect this soldier, a lion and a Macedonian.
