Lubi (Maknews) was the owner. I think there were a few disagreements between individuals there which led to a group of members forming the MTO.

A lot of valuable information was also lost apparently when the server went down a few times, so I guess others just gave up on investing their time and effort on that website.

In my opinion the MTO caters far more in terms of essentially 'making a difference.' It all starts with the defined Macedonian cause that has been developed here.

I'm sure Lubi began Maknews with the best of intentions and it probably served a good purpose in the 'early' days.
Unfortunately, where Lubi 'failed' was his tolerance for grk wankers having their say on the forum and later the forming of a destructive alliance with the totally incompetent UMD.

It is without doubt or hesitaion that what you state is 100% correct, I am living proof of someone who had limited knowledge/education or understanding of the truth of the Macedonian people. The online presence of the MTO is so far ahead of anything else on the web that empowers Macedonians through knowledge and critical thinking that I believe many Macedonian institutions could learn some valuable lessons here, just as I have. The enormous empowerment I have developed in dealing with ignorant people has lifted my confidence significantly, to the point where I am able to educate the ignorant or at the very least expose their ignorance for what it is and enable others to see it as well. MTO=#1 Macedonian enlightenment site...by plenty!

RTG you are 100% right.I look at it this way in the past others have dictated to us what we are & have written our history for us with their own slant.On this forum it gives us a chance to explore new ways of how to change people's attitudes & thinking & biases & prejudices.Allready i don't know if anyone else,i know RTG & admin have come accross to macedonias woes & the solution is there.I don't know if you could use stumbled or it's part & parcel of legitimate questioning & defintion & redfinition.The defining of the macedonian cause as defined by the mto is the real thing that has shown macedonia has detracted from it's real destiny.It's like as if macedonia has strayed off course partly due to itself & partly to others influence.If we concentrate on teaching our people about how we have lost our way by not following the real macedonian cause due to a host of many reasons. Also there have been so many destructions by its very people being anti macedonianThere is an answer or a solution.There needs a renewal of the macedonian spirit,like rekindling of a fire & there must be a revolution not only of the mind but a real physical revolution that is how macedonians can once again wake up &take up their position of a respected ,prosperous nation able to stand on her own in the world.All macedonians must unite as one throughout the world not just where they have been divided & together as one voice we can change our status or condition so that we are noticed for our existence as macedonians & as for our real identity as Macedonians.

I'd like to think i'm doing my bit, opening up a few facebook groups of my own, one called Macedonian Ancestry to get Macedonians to share their personal stories & photos on there, and one called Macedonian History - On this day, to educate less-informed Macedonians of their history

For all the good that can be generated here, it is just as quickly negated on fb with stupid 'friendship' groups like the one mentioned in another thread.

The challenge is bringing the type of focus that a site like this can generate to the 'masses' of that behemoth, facebook.

Facebook has the demographic that potentially can initiate future change for the good of all Macedonian's, tapping into that demograthic with the right message of empowerment is the key.

Yeh you're right. As bad as facebook can be, it is a really good opportunity to reach out to thousands of Macedonians. Most businesses and organisations have utilised this resource for the better, ultimately making use of a powerful advertising tool.
