Enjoying sunny (but cold) Japan at the moment. The guitar culture is totally alive here. They absolutely love them. It feels like 1990 here .... (aside from the brilliant high-tech toilets).

Ochanomizu in Tokyo is the Mecca for all guitarists. I have never seen so many guitar shops in one small area anywhere else in the world.

The Japanese guitars are amazing quality. Some are actually much cheaper in Australia than they are here in Japan. The locals know how good they really are, whereas the rest of the world still thinks they are just copying the US guitars and price them unfavourably.

A great place to visit all round. I can see how their culture has facilitated their development.

Video by Patrick McHaleFrom the album Gon' Boogaloo.http://vevo.ly/p5Nzxa

This guy (C.W. Stoneking ) is an awesome guitarist. But not in the way we might normally think. This video has great animation.

Why did the guitar teacher go to jail?
                Because he fingered Am

                (guitarist joke)
                Am = A minor

                    Why isn't this guy famous?
                    Oh the mystery.

Sweet acoustic riff that I decided to turn into a rock epic haha

Now all that's left is to add a little more reverb to that snare

“There’s a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart, that you can’t take part, you can’t even passively take part, and you’ve got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus and you’ve got to make it stop, and you’ve got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it, that unless you’re free, the machine will be prevented from working at all” - Mario Savio

                              And now for something different.

My recent trip to Japan inspired me. The wonders of technology allowed me to create most of the song on my iPad on a bullet train in Japan and I finished things off when I returned to Australia.

I recently purchased a mandolin and used it to try and achieve something Asian sounding. It was really fun and I can listen to myself for hours. I am my biggest (and possibly only) fan.

Anyway, a mandolin is a little guitar, right?

A peaceful ambient tune utilising some lovely soft synthesizers and a recently acquired mandolin. Inspired by a recent trip to Japan with much of the tune created in the bullet train from Kyoto to Osa

Samo edno kavalche ti fali to complete the sound. I think the kaval is always a good accompaniment to the mandolin/tambura. Both have relaxing and soothing sounds. That would make an interesting mix - Asian sounds with a hint of Macedonian in the background.
