    Avtonomia,

I don't know about you, but me being proficient in the Macedonian language, does not help me completely understand the bulgarian speech in that video. I understood possibly 10%.

What makes you think that the majority of Macedonians on this forum would understand any better?

A transcript of the relevant parts in Macedonian or English, would go a long way to promote further discussion on this thread.

That's what I was thinking. It might be interesting if I could understand it.

Basically bearded Chetnik guy says that Macedonian people are made up. That Skopje or rather "Skoplje" is Serbian! The host of the show then interjects that Ohrid is Bulgarian. Chetnik guy then says that "well we will just sit down and discuss this together once we get the Turks off our land.

This is how I understood it. These characters are pretty weak. The morbidly obese Bulgarian with the block for a head and the Chetnik guy with the beard do not impress me much. All of them for that matter probably still live at home with their elderly parents and use their parents pension for cafe money. If these guys had careers or a future maybe they wouldn't blame others for their lot in life.

In what Macedonian language are you so proficient?
For there are many dialects in macedonia, today people from vardarska macedonia hardly understand people from egejska or pirin
And Certainty, it is not 90% difference between Macedonian and Bulgarian language so If you being proficient in the Macedonian language if you concentrate and listen carefully, you will understand enough.

Did you understand the Serbian language in the video?

Avtonomia, I'm living in Macedonia and it’s not hard for me to understand people who speak Macedonian from Egej or Pirin at all. I’m a much more than proficient in Macedonian, and i’m proficient in Serbian and Russian (both of them i learned in school). But Bulgarian is another story, i had leaved with Bulgarian guy when i was in US and we needed at list two months to start understand each other in 90 % of our conversations.

I guess all they needed to complete the party, was a hrvatski ustasha on the other screen...

No, i do not understand Serbo-Croation completely at all, as with Bulgarian.

All Macedonian dialects are easily intelligible to my family and i.

As TojSum said, it took him/her 2 months of living with a bulgarian, to understand 90% of the conversations, and thats from someone being proficient in Serbo-Croation and Russian.

Anyway, i hope you did not take any offence to my first post. Its just that there would have been more discussion if the majority here could have understood it, or read a transcript in Macedonian or English, thats all.

There has always been dialectal difference, but to suggest that they can't be understood is just wrong. My family is from Bitola and Risto the Great's family is from Lerin. We have never had any issues communicating with each other and we often speak Macedonian in conversation. Dare I say, I can understand somebody from Lerin just as good if not better than someone from Skopje.

That is not the point. And I don't really see what the point was in posting this clip, given that we are all aware of how idiotic some Bulgars and Serbs can be. We don't need to promote their stupidity here.

In fact, I can only understand SoM when he speaks Macedonian. If he speaks English, I just can't make any sense of it with his eastern accent & dialect'n'all.
