    Venezuelan Flag

The current Venezuelan flag FLAG has 3 equal horizontal stripes, 3 colors, 8 stars.

    Yellow: wealth of the land.
    Blue: the great ocean.
Red: courage and blood of the freedom fighters.
8 stars: (they used to be 7 stars representing the 7 provinces that declared the independence of Venezuela in 1811). These are Barcelona, Barinas, Caracas, Cumana, Margarita, Merida and Trujillo. The 8th star represents Guayana, which was liberated on the same year but 'not included' at the time. This star was incorporated in 2006.

Hugo Chavez changed the flag to 8 stars in 2006 and the 7 star flag is still flown today by the people who oppose Chavez' regime.

Those who fly the 8 star flag are seen to be supporters of Chavez's dictatorial regime.

So what do people who support the ventilator in Macedonia actually support?

At the close of the Miss Universe 2010 pageant, Stefanía Fernández, winner from 2009, pulled out a seven-star flag of Venezuela.

Nice to see some tough and patriotic people out there.
I wouldn't dare wrestle with her.

Cypriot soccer teams, lol. On a serious note, I have never looked into this. Was there any reason why the Venezuelan flag didn't include the 8th star from the beginning? Why wasn't Guayana considered?
In the name of the blood and the sun, the dagger and the gun, Christ protect this soldier, a lion and a Macedonian.

I was actually there earlier this year.

Before going there I should my Venezuelan friend the Macedonian t-shirt I would wear once I arrived in Caracas. He said anyone who wears red is a Chavez supporter. He explained you would either be abused or loved, depending on who saw you wearing it.

I bought a hat from there as a souvenir, it has the new Venezuelan flag. My friend was anti my hat when I showed him. I would have been as well.

By the way, all their women look like Miss Universe! A very good reason to visit this country!

I was able to find some Macedonians there. A old Macedonian couple still run the ex-Yugo embassy, now the Serbian embassy. They are pro-Chavez and pro-Tito. The Croatians and Serbians both have an organised diaspora in Venezuela.

The real Macedonian and Venezuelan flags.

          Thanks Blagojce.
I have a disproportionate number of Venezuelan clients for some reason. I really get along very well with them.

A lot of passion from Venezuealans about Venezuela. Nice to see.

I fear that if she had me on the mat, I would give her my best shot but ultimately would fear the consequences of such emotional and physical abuse.

Why are people against Chaves? Wasn't he the one pushing the USA, and other Western influences, off the people's backs and urging other South American countries to do the same.

He was planning to organise all the South American countries to get together and form a 'Latin America' bank to loan only to South American countries and avoid the Western banks and IMF all together, and their evil control over Latin America. This could only be a good thing - right?

Could it be the anti-Chaves people are the 'Crvenkovskis' of Latin America, prepared to sell-out to Western interests controlling their resources and economies, all for a huge, quick, personal gain?

Have I missed something? or is Chaves the good guy?

Yes Brian, I know where you are coming from.
I applauded some of his self-sustaining (anti-American) sentiments in the past. But speaking to people at the coalface (Venezuelan immigrants) it seems apparent that the talk has not matched the deeds.

Either way, the following link explains the seemingly whimsical nature of his rhetoric:

This is how bully and Dictator Hugo Chavez runs Venezuela. Law and order be damned. When a couple told Chavez that they had not been able to move in because Banco Provincial had not approved a loan…

This is how bully and Dictator Hugo Chavez runs Venezuela. Law and order be damned. When a couple told Chavez that they had not been able to move in because Banco Provincial had not approved a loan or given them the money, Chavez called the President of the bank and told him if the bank was not willing to fulfill the Constitution, decrees and the laws, then Chavez said:

“You have to begin to give me the bank, I will pay what the banks costs…do you have something to respond to me?” Chavez said.

At this point the President of the bank requested that his voice also be broadcast on nationwide TV, like that of Chavez.

Chavez said no, telling him he could go to the Government’s TV channel and ask for time.

“This is very serious” said Chavez “Tell me how much the banks is worth, I will not argue with you”

Then Chavez says that the President of the bank is saying the information is not correct. Chavez points at the guy with a document. The guy shows it. Chavez tells him that someone is not telling him the truth.

Threatening him Chavez says: “you are involved, you have to assume your responsibility… you have to meet with this people… tell me how much the bank costs, I buy it” the President off Banco Provincial says the bank is not for sale, Chavez says he can perfectly expropriate it.

Like a true despotic Dictator, Chavez threatens the President of the bank, without even knowing the details of the case, who is right or not, whether an illegality has been committed or not. There are laws and procedures for all this, but not for allmighty Hugo.

That is the way the bully runs Venezuela, like his own personal fiefdom, where he can do what he wants, if he desires something, it becomes “the public interest”, without even finding out the truth of the case.

If the same method were to be applied to his incompetent Government, he would have left long ago, as he is the one that does not follow the laws and abuses all of the time. Government owned banks have the lowest ratios for loans and are not forced to lend to the agricultural sector and the housing sector as strictly as private banks. But in any case, Chavez did his bully act without knowing anything about the case.

But he is the all powerful Dictator and ruler of Venezuela. With this he creates rumors, instability and people fear for their money. He then will say the opposition creates the instability.

                              So, beware!
