    New MTO Facebook Page

    Dear All,

You can now follow MTO Inc. on its new Facebook page at:

If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

The Revolution was in the minds and hearts of the people; a change in their religious sentiments, of their duties and obligations...This radical change in the principles, opinions, sentiments, and affections of the people was the real American Revolution. John Adams

    Good idea Tom.
Everyone take the time to 'like' the MTO page on facebook. Others will be more inclined to join if there is a larger following. I'm sure a number of people here are associated with facebook in one way or another.

There's an interesting program on right now on the History Channel called 'The Virtual Revolution'...

The internet, google, g mail, facebook, etc...the problem is the permanence of the information that is readily coughed up by the unsuspecting, it's future ramifications are unknown...what may appear 'innocent' today could be exploited in the future.

An example given in the program was an initiative by the Dutch government in the early 1900's to record the religion of its citizens with the aim of providing an appropriate burial to people who may not had surviving family...this 'bank' of information was then used for sinister purposes during WWII by the Nazi regime...

I still find it unbelievable that the Facebook generation will cough up so much information about themselves...information that is stored pretty much forever. Somebody will have your every move digitized and catalogued.

Information of value has already been collected, long before the digital era. FB is mostly just useless nonsense stuff anyway.

The information is permanent, the danger is how it is used in the future, whether that's by a potential employer or advertising companies or governments...your entire 'profile' is built up by 'likes' and then clever little algorithms fill in the missing info to craft tailor made advertising directing you to certain consumer choices...nobody saw this coming ten years ago, what will the next ten bring...the only certainty is that all of that information is being stored by somebody.

Exactly why I look back and regret putting my real name and details upon subscribing to facebook. Personally I think what they do is an absolute crime, selling your information to organisations, but I guess that's the consequences of ignoring 'the fine print' within the terms and conditions.

At the end of the day they too are a business and I'd love to see them collapse, but while it is around, it presents a great opportunity for the likes of MTO to spread their message to the masses.

EM, its not just FB...even g-mail operates in a similar fashion, each time you draft an email a program scans for keywords and you get bombarded with advertising and spam that coincides with those keywords in your email.

The big problem is the attitude of the users and their acceptance of what FB does as simply a 'consequence' of the 'service'...this attitude was discussed in the program.

Everything is still relatively new, the consequences are yet to be known and they may not be evident for decades to come...

The Government has much more important information on you than Facebook could ever dream of. For example, information from the census, financial/taxation, health records, family records among a host of other stuff. And if they're really interested, how many times you wipe your backside in any given sitting.

As for corporations, I couldn't care less if they knew I prefer Heinekin over Becks. Mabye they'll send my some free beers?

Yeh that's true, I don't really use email that much though but have one address set up for everyday use and another for 'professional' use.

Not only could facebook pose a threat to employment prospects for example, new bullying laws also account for cyber bullying. So basically, you may be liable and can even be imprisoned for 'bullying' someone over the 'social networking' website. As ridiculous as that may sound, that's the sorry reality today. People aren't even safe now, even behind their keyboards.

I understand the govt has all of those records, including the internet stuff...the danger is the FB profiling and info that is coughed up, the photos and other identity issues, the consumer choices that you make and your personal 'interests'...I'm not sure what is more dangerous, the government having all of this info or the Zuckerberg's and Bezos' of the world...

The point I'm trying to make is that nobody understands the consequences of where the hell all of this is heading...it's moving that quickly.

                        Phoenix,

I think you overestimate corporate 'power' and their interest in your life. I would be much more concerned about what future governments may do with all the information that they have.

Besides, you shouldn't be putting anything up on facebook that you don't want anyone to know about

This is the closest I come to FB my friend...talking about it.

That's the point you're missing TV, your underestimating corporate power in the computer age...

Governments always had much of this information to a certain degree, now the corporates have access...

Other than make money off you, there is really nothing corporations (i.e., businesses) want from you. And, you're not obliged to give them any money.
