    Macedonian dialect of Australia

Ever wondered how the Macedonian diaspora in Australia speak the Macedonian language? well this song is a good example of how in a way the Macedonians of Australia have created there own Macedonian dialect.

    It's a very funny song.

This is a serious question, could this be considered a Macedonian dialect?

No because they just replace the Macedonian words with English and pronounce them with a Macedonian accent.

hmm i think it's just a hybrid language. I don't know what the official definition of a dialect is though.. maybe we need some linguists to determine if it constitutes a dialect.. the song is hilarious all the same

by the way that MusicOfMacedonia channel on youtube is great!!

Well here is one definition of a dialect.

A regional or social variety of a language distinguished by pronunciation, grammar, or vocabulary, especially a variety of speech differing from the standard literary language or speech pattern of the culture in which it exists.

Here is another Macedonian song created in Australia. I actually think it's a great song.

I find it really funny. As to being a dialect perhaps one of the resident experts at the MTO either the Daskalot or SOM might like to examine it & see what they reckon.

The word that is used alot by Macedonian Australians is "Orajt" (Alright), but then again i also here the Italians using that word as well.

So if I mix Macedonian and Australian words and pronounce them with Macedonian accent, it becomes a new language? wow.

I never got into the Macedonian Australian dialect. I always talk proper Macedonian at home even if I've been here for 11 years. My parents are shifty they started using Macedonian Australian dialects within 3 months.

Now I'm just wondering what will they say in Macedonia when we go there, Shopping or Pazarejne... lol.

I'll never get into that dialect even if everyone around me uses it, only proper Macedonian for me.

I thought the same, until i went to Macedonia a few years back and i stood out. They can tell you are not from Macedonia straight away as soon as you open your mouth, no matter how hard you try to speak proper Macedonian.

                            DC,
can i ask you how would you say traffic lights in Macedonian if you spoke to your parents?

Unfortunately with the number of loan words used in Macedonia you might be outnumbered even there.

YouTube - Slatkaristika - Shopping (Jovanov Records)

I also try not to use menglish too much, especially not leading up to and while in MKD, because it really sounds funny when u hear Aus-Macs over there speaking this strange tongue.
