This even goes back in Ancient times...

When Alexander the Great felt that his life was threatened and he is said to have called for his guards in Macedonian. When his life was threatened he reverts to his more primitive psyche, which could be interpreted as "overpowering his expressed intellectual preference for the Greeks, i.e. the Greek part of his own nature". "But the answer is probably simpler than that", writes Badian. "He used the only language in which his guards could be addressed".

[Note: The guards could be addressed in Macedonian only.]

Alexander. A "dialect" that Alexander the Great himself called "our Macedonian language".
The Macedonians originates it, the Bulgarians imitate it and the Greeks exploit it!

I remember the huge outcry when Macedonian's graffitied a tourist bus from Greece. Will this get a mention and will the "greek" politicians milk it for all its worth?

Over 10 years ago Greece sent soldiers to fight with the Serbs against Croatia. Apparently the Croatians did not forget. Some of our people are willing to forget.

Greece as a state didn't sent anyone to fight against Croats. It was a private initiative of some individuals, nothing in official level.

I believe this incident has not so much to do with the events that took place during the war in ex-Yugoslavia but rather with the treatment that Croatians suffered by PAOK fans in the first match in Thessaloniki.PAOK ultra fans are very notorious in Greece for their aggressive behaviour and the violent incidents they frequently provoke.Αnd not only in Greece, you can ask Onur or Ottoman:
YouTube - Paok Hooligans Attacks Fenerbahce Fans-PAOK FANATIC HOOLIGANS-Fanatik Yunan holiganlar-
So it was a matter of retaliation, but purely out of footbal reasons.Oh,i almost forgot it:PAOK beat Dynamo Zagreb 1-0 and went into the next stage of Europa League.Congrats, even though i am fan of Aris,PAOK's archrival in Thessaloniki!

The silent involvement of Greek Politicians and hight profile Figures of the Greek Govt involving and forwarding Greek FM during the Bosnian Wars and Greek support of Serbs are deniable but true, cut the crap will you.

Cant wait to hear their reaction once the cables come out regarding Greece's involvement with the Ethnic albanian terrorists in the Macedonian crisis.

                Agamoi Thytai, Akzion,

How is it that these PAOK supporters can speak the Macedonian language?
was Tito responsible for this? or the Macedonian orthodox church mabe? or does it go back further during the time of Alexander the Great reign?
Why is it that people in the south of Macedonia can speak Macedonian, but those over the border, cant speak grik?

So many questions, but i am a curious person by nature.

                  Bill77,
I don't speak your language, so I could not confirm if it is clearly spoken and who spoke it. What was said exactly? (English translation).
I did recognize some shouts in Greek and their... amazing English (water, reee!) What was the language of the bus driver?
I don't know how many can speak the language in Greek Macedonia and how often they use it. In the city of Florina you can here it in the streets about 5-10% of the times.

Another thing, you later ask what language was the bus driver. Only someone that understood what was said would know it was directed at the bus driver pinocchio.

what has that got to do with the price of fish? the conversation is these Greeks can speak Macedonian and nothing to do with the driver.

                      Akzion,

Do you have a problem referring to my language as Macedonian? Is it too painful to be at all decent?

You won't be speaking any language here at all should you decide to omit reference to the Macedonian language as Macedonian once more. Let that be your first and last warning on this matter. If you can dribble out the word 'Greek' when making reference to your own language, then you will show us the same courtesy by using the name of our language. Or, you can get lost.

He speaks Macedonian because he is from Florina,or Edessa or any other place where we know that people speak Macedonian.PAOK is very popular in all Northern Greece from Thrace to Thessaly. His fans are not only from Thessaloniki and when he plays abroad many of the fans that follow him are from these regions.
I have though an alternative explanation.Someone said something to the driver (who is in all probability a Croat) in Macedonian, however it's debatable whether it was really in Macedonian or not.Did he say отвори вратата еба си мајката or отвори вратата еба си майката?I don't speak neither Macedonian nor the other language, but using the latter to get an online translation the results make more sense than in Macedonian.Judging by his accent,he is surely not a native speaker of that language, regardless of whether it is Macedonian or not.Compare his accent with the driver's accent,it's apparently not Slavic.Where did he learn it?Maybe he picked up some basic Macedonian words and expressions because he frequently visits Macedonian towns close to the borders with Greece, like Bitola,Gevgeli,Strumica e.t.c.I know many people who do it from Thessaloniki,Kilkis,Pella and all the Western Macedonian regions.Similarily people from Thrace visit Bulgaria and once i was told by a middle aged man from Xanthi that he learned Bulgarian because he visits Bulgaria over the last 15 years.
