This gentleman had been a regular face I always enjoyed seeing at any of our local Macedonian events here in Adelaide. Always a smile and a funny one liner to me as a child and nothing changed as I matured into a man. His mere presence was always uplifting for me.
He was born in selo Visheni (Greek occupied Macedonia) in 1930 and will always be remembered by me.
Why did I bother posting news of his death here. I would like to call it a tribute to the fabric of our Macedonian communities in the Diaspora. Chiche Petre was not necessarily involved in any executive committees but would always be willing to lend a hand and would always attend events. People like him made our Diaspora communities a cohesive and family spirited place. I will be attending his funeral today and will mourn the loss of a lovely man and also the loss to our community.
