Top officials have harmonized stance on continuation of name talks under UN aegis
Skopje, 20 December 2010 (MIA) - Top officials have harmonized stance, clear positions and commitment for continuation of the Macedonia-Greece dialogue under aegis of the UN, which is the best place for defense of Macedonia's principles, national interests, but also in the efforts to find a way in getting the trust and will from Greece to move forward, Foreign Minister Antonio Milososki told reporters after Monday's promotion of "Crossroads" magazine.
"As UN member-state, the Republic of Macedonia has undertaken certain obligations with the 1995 Resolution and the Interim Treaty, including UN's mediation in overcoming the bilateral differences through a special envoy", said FM Milososki.
According to him, undertaken commitments need to be respected, while the suit against Greece before the International Court of Justice is entirely separated from the UN-led talks, having legal basis and dimension.
Milososki expects Macedonia to get an EU accession talks date in 2011, based on the fact that the next couple of EU presidency holders - Hungary and Poland - should possess a larger sense and and give more attention to the enlargement process.
"I believe their public and media are not overburdened by certain taboo topics and prejudice related to the enlargement process as is the case with other EU members, and I believe 2011 could be the year when enlargement gets the deserved attention. I would not like to underestimate the internal problems that the EU is faced with, especially in the Eurozone, which will continue to consume the time of the EU member-states", said FM Milososki.
Pertaining to Israel's position following Syria's recognition of Macedonia's constitutional name and Skopje's support for Damascus's UN resolution, Milososki stated Macedonia and Israel have excellent relations placed on sound foundations, which cannot be jeopardized by other issues, bilateral or international.
"As an UN member-state, Macedonia abides by a joint position of EU countries when declaring itself over certain resolutions. However, when a position is divided over a resolution, Macedonia determines its stance in line with the country's national interests", emphasized the Foreign Minister.
FM Milososki voiced satisfaction from the establishment of diplomatic relations with Syria under the constitutional name, which opens possibilities for bilateral cooperation, especially in the economic sector. ik/fd/14:41

Steve Stamkos of the Tampa Bay Lightning is the best Macedonian player ever in hockey and I would say the 2nd best player in the hockey world right under Sidney Crosby. Here's what was nominated as the best goal of 2009:
MK & TM, thanks guys re: NHL/Stamkos...I'll keep an eye out for games featuring Tampa Bay...(I think we get one live game per week on our pay tv provider, Foxtel)
