Would "RtG, SoM or you" have been more appropriate??? Again with the commas. I keep telling you - people are smart enough to figure it out with or without a comma.

My old computer decided to retire by shorting the USB ports (useless to connect to them) and also not connecting to a router properly so I'm in a transitional faze porting stuff to my new computer.

As I already had paid for a good anti-virus program on my old computer I didn't want to buy another one for the new computer for the temporary time until I could port my data across deciding to wing-it on the new computer as it didn't have any data on it. Wouldn't you know it! - I copped a virus!!! Well, winter is coming but I guess the flu-shot doesn't protect you from the "DoubleClick" virus. Someone ought to blow up virus makers! - no offense Dirty Hard Coding.

Anyway, I saw an article about free-by software and the writer recommended AVAST Anti-Virus free version. I gave it a try, guessing my new computer had a virus because of a sudden drop in performance. AVAST repeatedly told me my computer was clear even though I could just sense there was a virus.

From my experience AVAST is a useless piece of crap!! not worth wasting your time on - or money if you feel tempted to succumb to their offers for their paid version.

Fire Fox 4.0 is Fan-bloody-tastic!




From past posts you may know I am a fan of Fire Fox so my opinion is not entirely unbiased, but that said, I have just recently tried Fire Fox 4.0 and it screams with speed and has had a nice face-lift (I guess 4.0 is old in software years like dog years.)

Yes Fyrom the real reason i asked you where you were from to see if you knew.You know the story "men are from mars & women are from venus".But in your case you don't know so

I agree with you about Avast it's crap .I heard that Avg is the numer one in popularity & is recommended.I haven't tried it but i heard it's improved & it's free.But like all things you get what you pay for.
You certainly know it when you have a vrus,I found by using norton 360 it picked up what was slowing the computer -trojans/& identity stealing.The norton 360 caught them & fixed it.The symptoms i had was slow clicking you click & it takes 2 to 3 minutes to respond.The other thing i noticed the pc slowed completely everything was lagging.Also i noticed was i had to rformat the hardrive & start again.:

Both are a piece of crap. Just Sandboxie your browser and you'll be fine. I haven't had a virus for 3 years now and I don't have anti-viruses or Sandboxies.

The only anti-viruses that are good is Kaspersky and Malwarebytes, everything else will slow down your computer and won't protect you.

DCH norton does slow down pcs.I prefer google chrome it's very fast.I have use of both firefox & internet explorer.Avg i heard is good it may not be the best.I think you want total protection you may have to pay.I heard also & seen atmicrosoft has antivirus etc windows defender etc available.I don't know how good they are.Funny thing with avast as it finishes updating a voice comes on (a lady) that avast is uptodate.I had the volume up a bit & it gave me such a scare.

Actually I tend to do a decent amount of research before I buy software and I wouldn't go for Kaspersky (for goodness-sake the guy can't even spell his name right) nor AVG and only put Norton in about 3rd or 4th place.

I thought sandboxing was for Linix only? Guess I got another avenue to look at in the future - I already got rid of the virus. If I could get access to my data I have a whole arsenal of Anti-Virus stuff so this time I had to go off memory.

Ha Ha - you'd be surprised where viruses lurk.

I'm running raw - no firewall, anti-virus, malware, proxy...ect anything and RTG still can't read my IP.

I guess Big Brother doesn't bother any of you. Roll-on NWO. India is now considering banning Skype unless they can monitor it.

If the GPS is turned off and the "location" parameter is switched off, I don't think we are giving any more information than a regular 10 year old Nokia phone.

Now I understand why you refuse to use a smart phone, you go to extreme measures hiding your ip address, heaven forbid if you used a smart phone and somebody was to determine your every move and the fact that you largely post from your dunny...wow, I wonder what your 'movements' could be used for...
