    Peshna Cave - Makedonski Brod

I just wanted to share this:

EXPLORING PESHNA CAVE AND THE FORTRESS BUILT, ACCORDING TO LEGEND, BY THE 14TH-CENTURY KING MARKO FOR HIS SISTER, MAKEDONSKI BROD, MACEDONIA, JULY 6, 2007 Alek Gavrilovski, 20, from Skopje, Macedonia, on summer break from his studies at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta. “I’ve studied in the States for three years, and pretty much every summer I go back to Macedonia. I’ve traveled the world, and I’ve never really taken a good look at my own country as much as I am now. I’d never been to the Peshna Cave; I’d only heard about it. The castle’s actually built inside. It looks exactly like Helm’s Deep from ‘Lord of the Rings.’ It’s kind of sad to compare it to that — but it’s actually incredible when there’s something you’ve seen from somebody’s fantasy, and then you see this and it’s almost exactly the same.” As told to Austin Considine

I wonder, if anyone has more pictures of it!

Thanks Makedonin, I have been looking for more information relating to King Marko, this seems very interesting.
In the name of the blood and the sun, the dagger and the gun, Christ protect this soldier, a lion and a Macedonian.

I remember reading somewhere that the story has it that Marko's two sisters would communicate via the cave's echo, from the castle's built for them, on opposite ends.

Quote: "There is also an interesting legend related to the Peshna cave and Deva's Fortress that are 4km away from the cave. Legend says that both Deva and Peshna (Krali Marko's sisters) lived in this region after they were married. As in those days women were not allowed to go out unaccompanied, and in order for the sisters to still be able to communicate, Krali Marko built a castle for Deva opposite the one of Peshna (which was at the entrance of the large cave named after her). Thus, the sisters communicated every morning by utilizing the echo produced by the interior of the cave".

One of the most fascinating caves of Macedonia. At its entrance one can see the devastated watermill and the remains of a medieval tower. A river sprouts from the cave - it is the river Krapa which is partially subterranean. There is also an interesting legend related to the Peshna cave and Deva's Fortress that are 4km away from the cave.
